After reading the mixed reviews we went to the hotel with low expectations but didn’t need to worry. We did have a few small issues with the room but these were dealt with quickly by the staff. The location is perfect on the beach but with all the local shops and restaurants round the corner.
Highlights/positives - the hotel and surrounding areas are spotlessly clean. Breakfast is average, evening meals are fantastic, every night had a different theme and the quality was superb. We had planned to eat out a few nights however the food at the hotel was so good we went every night. The beach is beautiful and we enjoyed snorkling with the kids every day.
Negatives - as all the other reviews mention, the pool is far too small for the size of the hotel. Beach is very busy. Sunbeds round the pool are reserved early on, we didn’t see anyone removing towels but equally managed to get beds round the rest of the resort at any time. Noise from the evening entertainment is too loud for a family resort and runs on until 11.30pm (our kids loved the mini disco until 9.30pm and managed to sleep through the noise but I understand how others with very young kids can be annoyed).
Overall we had a lovely holiday, I’m not sure we would return purely because of the pool and how busy it was however if you have booked already I’m sure you will enjoy the trip.

A heartfelt thank you to Daniela and Tom!
During my trip to Palma, my luggage was delayed by the airline, and I was told it would be delivered to this hotel. Since my stay was only for two nights, I was extremely anxious and stressed. I visited the reception desk several times, and every single time, Daniela and Tom kindly reassured me without showing the slightest sign of annoyance.
Even on the day of my checkout, my luggage still hadn’t arrived, and I didn’t know what to do. Daniela went above and beyond—she personally called the airline and requested that my luggage be delivered directly to my home in Korea.
As someone who doesn’t speak Spanish well, I truly appreciated their patience and support. Their kindness made a difficult situation so much easier to handle.
Everything about the hotel was amazing—the view, the service, the atmosphere—but what truly made my stay special was the warmth and care from Daniela and Tom.
Thank you so much! If I ever come back to Palma, I will definitely return to Esmeralda.
(I may not remember the exact names of the staff correctly, but they were the ones working at the reception desk on Friday morning, October 10, 2025. Thank you so much.)

Overcrowded nightmare! When I booked the pictures on their website were of the previous large pool overlooking the sea with 2 large child sections along with a larger deep pool. Since we booked they have had an 'upgrade' the pool has been completely changed and is now much smaller, it no longer overlooks the sea but instead the infinity feature looks into a bar! Why it was designed that way I don't know. You can't get a sunbed for love nor money and when you're in the pool you can't swim properly because it's too cramped. The very small child pool is only suitable for toddlers and the larger pool is mostly too deep for older kids.
The beach is also extremely crowded, you can't find space close to the shore, the beach is packed like sardines. there's too.many people for you to be able to swim and enjoy it comfortably. Really disappointed overall and although the staff are lovely, the food and drinks are nice and the place is kept extremely clean, there is no way I would stay here again.

This was, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We were fortunate to have only booked a three-night stay.
While the rooms were quite decent and the staff was helpful, the overall experience was severely let down by several major issues. The swimming pool is far too small for the size of the hotel. It's so crowded that people who can't find a spot resort to calling security to "forcefully" free up sun loungers.
We were victims of this chaotic situation ourselves. We arrived and found the last two available loungers, so we placed our belongings on them. After a quick dip in the already-packed pool and a five-minute walk to the beach, we returned to find our spots taken and our things moved onto a nearby chair. We had only been away for less than 20 minutes!
On top of that, the restaurant was also extremely crowded, and the food quality was very mediocre.
In short, while some aspects of the hotel were acceptable, the overcrowding and the aggressive atmosphere it created made for an incredibly unpleasant stay. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Our stay at this hotel was overshadowed by a deeply distressing and unacceptable incident. We were trapped in the hotel elevator with my infant when it malfunctioned and dropped down and the emergency call alarm failed to function delaying our rescue. The way hotel management handled the situation was nothing short of appalling. The staff communication was unprofessional and dismissive. Being locked in a confined space with a baby is terrifying — the lack of a proper maintained elevator placed our safety and wellbeing at serious risk.
What makes this worse is the hotel’s response afterwards. Rather than acknowledging the seriousness of what happened, management brushed it aside and made no real effort to take responsibility for the trauma and inconvenience caused. This is a clear breach of the hotel’s basic duty of care.
Guest safety is not optional — it is the bare minimum any hotel should provide. Until this property takes accountability and fixes its safety protocols, I cannot recommend anyone stay here. Travelers deserve peace of mind, not negligence.
