The staff here are excellent. I feel so looked after. Manuela, Anna and Angela are exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I have a dietary requirement and Manuela talked me through the menu. Fantastic 😍 Hotel is beautiful and it's a great location overlooking the sea. Food is excellent and plentiful. Highly recommended!

We've have spent a week here and we had the best time. The location is amazing, right next to the beach.
The two younger women at the reception were incredibly helpful and friendly and made sure we had a smooth check in and welcomed us so warmly. We appreciated their help regarding different informations about the resort policy and local transportation. We were welcomed with a taste of their local wine, which was so good, we bought three bottles to bring home 😅
The room was big, clean and nice. The bed was so comfortable and the view was just the best.
The food and drinks (you have to try their sangria) offered were diverse, with different a theme for each day. I am a vegetarian and i must say that i had plenty of delicious food to eat, so if you are one too, i wouldn't worry.
The staff in the eating area were also very friendly and helpful and made sure we had a pleasant experience.
The terrace is big and nice, holding an amazing view. I really appreciated the dedicated smoking tables here, which are far enough from the others so you don't disturb the non-smoking guests, but still have an amazing view.
They also have a nice pool and plenty of chairs in the pool area, as well as a sauna.
All in all we had an amazing experience and will definitely choose this place if we get a chance to come back to Madeira.
Special thanks to the hard working staff! ❤️

The food is bland and most of it is not prepared in the kitchen but from frozen or canned. Location is beachfront and while the sound of waves at night is very pleasant - you don’t have easy access to public transport (you need to climb lots of stairs) and the beach is not fit for bathing. The included drinks are so-so - Pepsi and Ballantine and the local lager. If you want a better quality they have those on display but at a 25 EUR surcharge for five upgrade tickets.
Rooms are dilapidated with broken mirrors, no coat rack and a left-behind kitchenette from when the hotel was not all-inclusive. Low water pressure. OK beds. TV of no use due to pixelation and Portuguese-only channels. Wi-fi was good. Staff try hard to compensate for the poor quality.
Pick a hotel on the main road instead.

This is the second time we're staying here and I am extremely disappointed. First time when we were here with my family 9 years ago it was a wonderful experience, but this time I am straight up disgusted. The hotel is crying out for a major renovation, the rooms are dirty, the quality of the food is beyond criticism. Most of the staff do not speak English at all because they are from Asian countries such as India, Pakistan, Indonesia etc. The receptionists are not particularly adequate, they cannot provide accurate information about almost anything. Upon check-in, we found hairs in the bathroom around the sink, as well as on the sheets. The shower is broken and leaks, there is no plug for the bathtub, which I would not use anyway because it is extremely dirty and disgusts me. During our vacation, the hotel was undergoing noisy renovations at hours when people are supposed to be resting or taking an afternoon nap. We are not paying to be on a construction site. We have traveled over 6000 kilometers to rest and I receive questionable service.
I wish luck and success to everyone who is planning a vacation in this hotel. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
P.S.: Don't expect AC in your room. Best that you are getting is a fan. Also the photos from their website are at least 8 years old. It doesn't correspond to the reality at all.
If for some reason you decide to visit the hotel - take some power strips because there are 2 sockets in the room, one of which does not work.
The TV is at least 10 years old (not smart TV), doesn't have many channels, all are in Portuguese, and don't expect "extras" such as Youtube and other modern platforms from this century.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Pestana Ocean Bay Resort and would like to say a special thank you to Manuela Garanito.
Manuela is quite simply one of the nicest waitresses we have ever encountered. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and accommodated throughout our stay. Nothing was ever too much trouble, she always had a warm smile on her face, and her kindness and professionalism made a real difference to our holiday.
The hotel itself was lovely, the food was wonderful, and the location is absolutely incredible, with beautiful views and a fantastic atmosphere.
We would not hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Madeira.
A heartfelt thank you to Manuela and all the team for making our stay so memorable.

Rooms were fine , cleaning was a little haphazard. Some cleaners better than others. The tea/ coffee facilities weren't filled up daily which I thought was strange.
The food was really good. Plenty of choice and was always hot. Hubby was quite pleased with the choice of puddings and I was impressed with the salad bar.
Pools were clean, sunbeds always available but some folk choose to ignore that the lower pool was adults only as was the jacuzzi, luckily there weren't many kids but it might have upset a few folk otherwise. The cleanliness of the pool toilets needs to be done more often too. They got smelly and ran out of toilet roll by early afternoon.
The staff were really friendly.
We had a good holiday and the points that I have raised were minor and wouldn't put me off recommending the hotel.

Had a week here as part of Jet2 package and we were really impressed. The rooms were comfy with everything we needed including aircon, safe, toiletries and pool towels changed every day if required.
Vibe of the whole hotel was really nice and never felt too busy with lots of options of where to go from tree shade cafe/snack area, to busier main pool with swim up bar or lower quieter pool area. Never a problem getting sun loungers or sunshades and normally served straight away for drinks which were all decent quality from local Coral lager to branded spirits (although some premium spirits/cocktails were only available to higher banded guests but not a problem for us).
Entertainment was also great if you wanted it, foam pool party (a lot better than it sounds!) and karaoke were particularly good fun.
Good location to easily get down to the promenade and beach down a lift - beach was mainly steep into the water and stony but still nice for a swim. You could walk all the way to Funchal (east) or the lovely harbour of Camara De Lobos (west) if you wanted to but also we used the free shuttle to Funchal which was a big coach so enough room for everyone.
The food and service was always excellent, quick service when entering the restaurant to provide drinks while the choice and quality of food at the buffet was really good and plentiful. We were a group of 6 but could always easily get a table together as required.
Snack options were good, we all particularly enjoyed making our own stacked burgers with all the trimmings.
We also made use of the pool table and crazy golf which were a bit tired but still good fun, too for us to try the tennis though!

We enjoyed our stay in Pestana. With all inclusive you won't be missing on any food or drinks. Whole place is very clean and safe. Staff is super friendly and hotel offers quite a number of activities including tennis court, table tennis and minigolf. Our room was vey spacious and had a great view on the ocean that's on your doorstep. Although the hotel has 11 floors everything is very accessible by a lift but this can be challenging for people with limited ability. Location is great too with few extra steps down to the beach promenade. We also rent a car right within the hotel and it was very straightforward for reasonable price. We would recommend to everyone who wants to have great holidays and spend a few days in paradise.

We have recently stayed at Pestana Royal and overall had a pleasant holiday.
The hotel makes a great first impression. The foyer and public areas are grand and have a great aesthetic, are mostly well maintained and create a welcoming atmosphere. The staff throughout the hotel have been friendly and helpful, which has contributed significantly to an enjoyable stay. A special mention should go to Rosan, who has been excellent throughout our holiday and a real credit to the hotel.
Our room on Level 0 was comfortable but felt a little tired compared to the public areas. Unfortunately, the wardrobe had a noticeable musty smell which meant we chose not to use it during our stay. We also encountered cockroaches in the room, which I do give a sort of give some exception to due to Madeira's climate, what isn't the best though is dead cockroaches in the corridors of level 0 for multiple days.
The main disappointment was the "Premium All Inclusive" offering. We booked expecting the all inclusive package to include the standard range of holiday cocktails, only to discover that drinks such as Mojitos and Aperol Spritzes require an additional Premium All Inclusive upgrade costing €20 per room, per night. These are popular cocktails that many guests would reasonably expect to be included in an all inclusive package and it felt frustrating to find an additional tier of all inclusive within the existing all inclusive package. The drinks themselves did not feel particularly premium, which made the extra charge harder to justify.
Despite these issues, we have enjoyed our stay thanks to the friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and excellent public areas. With some attention to the rooms and a review of the drinks package structure, the overall guest experience could be improved further.

The staff are the magical ingredient at this hotel. Everyone we met was friendly, helpful & professional. From the reception staff happy to advise on trips or anything required during our stay, the staff in the restaurants who work tirelessly to make mealtimes an enjoyable experience. The cleaning staff who attentively cared for our room, the bar staff always serving with a smile. The animation team providing a wide range of activities with such enthusiasm. Senior members supporting younger team members to provide a professional & happy experience for guests. We have thoroughly enjoyed our holiday & would not hesitate to recommend the Pestana Royal.

I just drove here half an hour to do a site check. An unfriendly guy at the gate told me i need to book a room online and then i can have a look. I wanted to discuss group options, wanted to see if they have boardrooms. Nope. You need to trust a picture online and book online. Your not allowed to look. Or even just go to a reception and ask for booking options. So thats obvioulsy not made for business at all, more for leasure one time tourists. Even if: very unprofessional. He told me: "everywhere in the world you need to book first before you can have a look." Welcome to professional hospitality!

The property is very big. We stayed in one of the sea view suite rooms and it was lovely. The room was really big and had the most fabulous view of the sea from the balcony!
This is like a small village with own swimming pools, restaurants, shops, parking places, the marina, bars, promenade, beach and even church!! Perfect for a quiet holiday. If you are looking for nightlife this isn’t the place for you. We enjoyed the sea pool and terrace during the day and were lucky to have some good weather!
The surrounding area is fantastic for hiking.
We had a hire car for the week, which was a great way to see the island, and to get to the hotel from the airport.
A nice thing was that we were greeted with welcome drinks at reception. The staff and service were very helpful and friendly.

Very nice Resort with a beautiful view from some of the rooms over they bay or little harbour. However the staff (especially the older ladies at the restaurant) is not really polite. The younger staff is very kind and willing to make your stay a great experience. Very good location to start a hike to the east end of the island and to rent a kayak tour to paddle the bay.

Quinta do Lorde resort was fantastic. It surely exceeded our expectations even for a short stay. We wished we would have booked longer. They allowed us to check-in early upon request, offering friendly service accompanied with a welcome drink. They also were so nice as to upgrade our room without request or charge to a beautiful sea view room. We couldn’t have gotten luckier with our stay. They also offer a number of pool amenities along with a private stone beach. The marina was one of the best parts with a little market and the BEST diving center in Madeira. You never really need to leave the resort. The only improvement could have been the food. It was by no means bad food, but not as traditional tasting as other restaurants in Madeira. We would definitely recommend this beautiful but quiet getaway!!!!!

This excellent hotel was a real gem in our trip to Madeira. The hotel itself has a big territory, private beach with a pool with ocean water ( and also a regular pool in the territory). We had a suite, which was very nice, big, with comfortable bed and huge bathroom.
The hotel offers a free parking, and it is better to have a car if you are staying here, it is far from anything else.
Breakfasts are good, some time the refill of the food is coming late, but in general there is nothing to complaint about. You can have a breakfast on the balcony with a spectacular view to the ocean.

We had a wonderful stay at Enotel Lido Madeira, travelling together as a mother and son. From the moment we arrived, we felt very welcomed by the friendly and helpful staff, who made us feel comfortable throughout our stay.
Our room was perfect for us, with two comfortable beds of a great size, making it ideal for our trip. We really appreciated the little thoughtful touches, including the two travel tags that were left in our room during the last night’s room service. It was a lovely gesture and a beautiful reminder of our stay.
The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning views, excellent facilities, a great location, and delicious food with plenty of choice. Every member of staff we met was kind, professional, and always willing to help.
Thank you to everyone at Enotel Lido Madeira for making our holiday together so special. We created wonderful memories and would happily return in the future.

We did a couple of nights here by default, and while there was nothing intrinsically wrong with the hotel, we wouldn't return by choice. You couldn't fault the cleanliness, service, or food, but it was just too big, noisy* and impersonal for what we usually go for. And, it's location isn't great for those with health/walking issues. The room was fine, but the bed was far too hard. Necessitating actually sleeping on top of part of the duvet for padding. The food choice and quality were very good. Though again, the huge dining hall resembled a cafeteria. The staff were very efficient and polite in removing finished plates etc. All this said, other guests who had also been plonked there by Jet2 due to flight issues, thought it was great in comparison to where they'd just checked out of which they'd picked themselves for their holiday.
* the noise part, came from guests who I suspect were also dropped there in haste - Liverpudlians, going on the two shocking renditions of 'you'll never walk alone', who would ordinarily be at a lower grade hotel due to cost. And not believing their luck at free alcohol on offer - so caned it for all it was worth. Well, they were on their 'olydays!
Craig Graham
Very nice rooms, cleaned every day.
Restaurants aren't overcrowded and it's great not having to claim a sun lounger with a towel!
Very nice hotel with very good service, a little outside of Funchal centre but easy enough to get in.

I don’t understand how Enotel Lido is rated as a 5-star hotel. In my opinion, it’s much closer to a 3-star experience.
The food was one of the biggest disappointments. Most meals tasted like canned or frozen food that had simply been reheated. There was very little variety or quality, especially for a hotel that advertises itself as luxury.
Another frustrating issue was that the hotel was extremely stingy with basic amenities. We were not provided with extra bottled water, even after asking.
The worst part of our stay happened on the third day when my daughter turned 13. The hotel locked us out of our room and refused to let us back in until I paid an additional €300 for the remaining two nights because she had reached the age of 13 during our stay. I asked to speak with a manager before paying, but the staff refused and insisted I pay first. Being locked out of our room with my family over this was unacceptable and handled with no compassion or customer service.
Throughout our stay, many staff members came across as rude and unhelpful, making an already disappointing experience even worse.
I would not consider this a true 5-star hotel and would not stay here again. There are much better options in Madeira that offer better food, better service, and treat their guests with respect.
Raaj Joshi
Had a great time in Madeira. Everything was great. Even as strict vegetarians there was choice (although most deserts had eggs and we stuck to the ice cream). Freshly made pizzas at from 11-6.30pm. The kids club whilst undergoing renovations, the makeshift facility in the conference room worked well. Our boys loved it..I'd come again
