We spent an amazing week here with our son and had a wonderful experience overall.
The hotel is definitely very family oriented and the location is perfect if you have your own car. Everything is well thought out, from the beach, which you can easily reach with the hotel train, to the pools and the outdoor play areas.
What impressed us the most, though, was the service. Everyone we interacted with — from the breakfast team to the pool staff, restaurants, reception and concierge — was incredibly friendly, professional and attentive. We truly felt taken care of throughout our stay.
A special highlight for our son was the little train around the resort and feeding the koi fish, which he absolutely loved.
We would definitely recommend The Ritz in Abama if you’re planning a relaxed and memorable family holiday.

My Birthday was extra special here. Breakfast staff is amazing, they went extra mile to make fresh vegan items for us as we are allergic to animal protein. Verde Mar restaurant serves super delicious & fresh food & they were super gentle as well. Rest all the other staff were always smiling & super nice to us. This is already above expectation in Europe in terms of Service. Rest I don’t have to talk about the beautiful location, beach, hotels amenities.

If you’re ready to stand in lines everywhere, spend half an hour at reception during check-in, reserve tables even at the beach restaurant three days in advance, constantly wait for transfers to restaurants and the beach, and memorize shuttle schedules — then Ritz Abama is for you.
The hotel is huge, and the feeling of constant waiting never leaves you. Lines for the beach toilets are like a theatre during intermission. The staff is very polite and smiling, but behind this friendliness there is a complete lack of flexibility.
From the beach to the main entrance you have to take a “little train” shuttle — it takes 7 minutes. Walking means a long uphill climb. The funicular down has not been working for a year and a half, and the stairs are simply impossible for a person with limited mobility. Google Maps says “5 minutes on foot,” which has nothing to do with reality.
At the beach, a waiter can easily say: “We are very busy, I’m stressed, I can’t take your lunch order. Please come back later or go to the bar and queue for takeaway yourself.”
This creates a constant feeling of lack of freedom:
— you can’t eat spontaneously,
— you can’t leave the beach on your own,
— you are always dependent on shuttle schedules.
Another surprising point: the spa area with sauna is not included for hotel guests — €25 for 2 hours, which feels quite strange for a resort of this level.
Pros: the hotel is dog-friendly but they don't even bring you a water bowl and a dog bed to your room, and the breakfast is decent — no frills, no avocado toast, but acceptable.
Overall impression: a beautiful location, but far too many restrictions and inconveniences for a hotel of this class. Quite disappointing.

We had a wonderful experience at the Ritz-Carlton.
The staff is extremely attentive and friendly and really made a difference in our stay — especially the teams at the front desk, housekeeping, restaurants, and pool. The room was very spacious with all the amenities you need, a great shower, and very comfortable beds. Breakfast was excellent in both variety and quality, with a mix of classic and local options. The gym has modern, new equipment. Even though it’s a very family-friendly hotel with lots of small kids, the rooms were well soundproofed and we didn’t hear any noise. There are also several great restaurant options inside the hotel.
The only improvements I’d point out: the hotel needs better signage. It’s huge and a bit of a maze, and it was often hard to find exits or the places we wanted to go. Parking was also not very practical — finding a spot was hard, and the dead-end streets forced you to do awkward maneuvers every time you went looking for a space.
Overall, though, it was an excellent experience and I’d gladly stay there again.

Arrived at 6pm for 3 nights and on arrival was told they only had two spaces in their many restaurants at 6.15 and 6.30. It took 10 mins to get to the room so we had to rush down to the vegetarian restaurant, the only real option for a, tasty, mini portion, maxi price meal. In three weeks prior travelling we have had superb food and wine but never seen wine at 15 euros a glass...if you like being ripped off this is the place for you. First bite at breakfast the next morning I bit on a 20mm piece of broken glass in or on the smoked salmon. I gave it to a waitress and showed her the place it had come from and suggested she remove the plate and the one below. I was very lucky not to have badly cut my mouth or swallowed it. She took room number but I have not heard anything since...no apology. This morning at 9 am on our last full day we tried to book the Asian restaurant which has been closed for the last two days. Only to be told its fully booked for tonight. Completely hopeless. The staff are friendly but the hotels ethos is to rip you off and treat you as if you are lucky to be staying here. The opposite is true, there are many many places that give much better service in the Canaries, we've been to many. This is our first review below 4 stars on these islands. AVOID
