Honest Review
From the moment we arrived, it was clear this is not a 4-star hotel — at best, I would rate it 2 stars.
The rooms are acceptable but very dated. They were cleaned daily if requested, which is a positive. However, the beds are extremely uncomfortable and the pillows are terrible — so thin it felt like sleeping without one. I had to fold mine in half just to get some support.
The food was very disappointing.
Breakfast was exactly the same every day with very limited choice.
Lunch and dinner were hit and miss, and most food was served cold.
The dining staff were unwelcoming and rude.
One of the most embarrassing experiences was being chased to the lift by a staff member because I took a single tangerine out of the dining area. You’re also not allowed to re-enter the dining room — even if you just want dessert later. If you try, you’re told you must pay extra, often rudely.
The bar staff were no better. If you’re on an all-inclusive package, they make you feel like a second-class customer compared to those paying for drinks.
On the first night, I was bitten by bugs, leaving visible bites on my arms, neck, back, and even my forehead — which completely ruined my holiday photos and comfort.
The only real positive is the location, which is excellent and within walking distance of everything. Also, reception staff were genuinely welcoming and helpful, which was appreciated.
I’ve been on many holidays, and unfortunately, this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Also gym was out of order and never been open . Pool on roof is tiny and only limited sun loungers.

DO NOT COME TO THIS HOTEL
- food. we booked breakfast and dinner. Always the same rubbish eggs and cold food beans were watered down. Me and my partner kept feeling unwell and being sick so highly likely got food poisoning.
In the evenings the food was no better vile to say the least. On multiple evenings we weren’t offered drinks which were expensive anyway.
The fridge in our room was full of mold so we didn’t use it at all.
On check in- you were supposed to be able to check in from 2pm we arrived at the hotel after 12 hours of travelling already to know our room wasn’t going to be ready for another 15 minutes not the end of the world. We ended up waiting over 2 hours for our room to be ready sat on dirty and smelly sofas without being offered a drink or anything.
We got told in the restaurant to move tables as we sat at a 3 persons table when there were two of us because no other seats were available. We had to stand up and eat our food that night. The restaurant staff were rude and ignored us.
We had a man from the restaurant staff run after us as we wanted to enjoy a banana in our room and got it taken off us.
The bathroom door didn’t shut right and the bath kept leaking. We had hardly any toilet roll at all times.
There is no such thing as wifi in this hotel.
The pool was absolutely freezing cold and you couldn’t even pop your toes in without shivering.
We ended up going out for most nights to eat at restaurants because the food was vile. Which we didn’t really want to do as we paid for food at the hotel but had to pay more.
Towels and bed sheets were dirty and smelly.
This place is disturbing with how it is still running is a shocker.
They call this a 4 star hotel that needs to be changed to a 1

I was very disappointed with my stay at the Magec Hotel. The rooms looked nothing like the pictures shown on the website. In reality, almost nothing matched what was advertised online. The room felt outdated and misleading compared to the images used to promote the hotel.
The food was another big letdown. It was often cold and there was very little food on the plates. The quality was poor and definitely not what you would expect from a hotel offering meals to guests.
On top of that, many of the facilities were closed. The gym and the sauna were not open, and overall it felt like almost everything was closed or unavailable during the stay. These facilities were one of the reasons I chose this hotel, so it was extremely disappointing.
Overall, my experience did not match what was promised on the website, and I would not recommend this hotel based on my stay.

I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews at all. For this price — which is practically nothing — you get an amazing location: close to the beach, close to supermarkets, everything within easy reach. The reception was super friendly, and the service was some of the friendliest I’ve experienced in a long time.
Yes, the furniture might not be brand new, but let’s be honest, in most hotels it isn’t either. What you do get is a huge, spacious room with regular cleaning, a great gym with views of the city, the mountains, and the sea, plus a good pool. Wi-Fi worked perfectly fine in my ground-floor room.
If you think this is “bad service” or “bad rooms,” I’d suggest checking some hotels in Greece — you’ll quickly realize this place is on a completely different level. And for this price, in Greece you’d probably find something much worse, and at least twice as expensive.
So really, I have nothing to complain about. Everything was excellent. A huge thank you to the staff for their hard work and warm hospitality — you made my stay wonderful!

I stayed at this hotel in the first half of November. It was one of the most budget-friendly options, so after reading some negative reviews, I was expecting the worst — but the hotel turned out to be a pleasant surprise!
Everything was clean, the towels and bed linen were fresh and white. The views were incredible, and the rooftop pool overlooking the island was just amazing.
The hotel didn’t seem to be fully booked, so there were always enough sunbeds. The gym could use some renovation — that’s probably the only downside.
I had HB (half board). Breakfast was a typical British-style one: different types of eggs, beans, bacon, my favorite stewed vegetables, oatmeal, granola, and tasty cheeses.
Dinner was more varied — there was fish every day (a big plus!), and also different kinds of meat like pork and meatballs. From fruits — melon, watermelon, and for dessert — delicious pastries and croissants.
The service was just right for me — not intrusive at all. I don’t like when staff overdo the friendliness with fake smiles and loud greetings. Here, nobody bothered me, and when staff did talk to you, it felt genuine.
The location is perfect — right in the center, only 5 minutes’ walk to everything, including the bus station with routes to the capital and Mount Teide. You can buy a Ten+ travel card, top it up with €50, and travel anywhere on the island for a week. You can also get this card from a machine at the airport.
Overall, this hotel definitely deserves 4 stars.
It fully lives up to its price.
