Unfortunately, this was one of the worst “resort” stays we’ve ever experienced. First and foremost, the website descriptions and photos are extremely misleading. It appears that only a few rooms have been renovated and photographed for marketing purposes, or the images are otherwise not representative of the property at all. We planned to stay for four nights and left abruptly the morning after our first night.
I do want to note that the two front desk staff members we interacted with were genuinely kind, professional, and understanding. Unfortunately, that was the only positive aspect of our stay.
This property is a motel at best. We stayed in Building 1, and walking to our room immediately raised red flags. Several ground floor doors were propped open, there was a strong smell of marijuana, and the overall atmosphere gave us a strong sense of feeling unsafe. Our room was supposedly “upgraded” upon arrival, which honestly made us concerned about what our original room would have been like. The room had visible mildew in the shower, a dirty humidifier, stained towels, and multiple flies and spiders. The refrigerator was not cold, and the room had essentially no sound insulation (you could hear everything), which further reinforced that this is not a resort as advertised.
Most concerning were the serious safety issues. The door did not lock properly, forcing us to barricade it overnight. There was approximately a half inch gap under the door. The large window did not lock and could be pushed open from the outside. Even with a stopper, it still opened about six inches which is more than enough space for someone to reach in with an object to unlock the door. The inside of the window was also filthy. After leaving, we took a deeper look at reviews (which we admittedly should have done more thoroughly beforehand) and found many similar complaints, including reports of break ins and stolen items. Even without knowing this initially, we felt unsafe from the moment we arrived.
We did not use the pool or other amenities, as we did not feel comfortable staying on the property.
Ultimately, our safety and comfort were not worth the proximity to the parks. When we checked into another hotel and explained our experience, the staff there shared that they had heard similar stories before and have accommodated guests who relocated from this property.
We do appreciate that we were refunded for the nights we did not stay without having to ask (we were fully prepared to absorb the cost as a learning experience). We also appreciated that the front desk staff listened to our concerns during our early checkout and were not dismissive. I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews, but I would hate for other travelers or families to have the same experience. This property needs to be advertised honestly for what it is… a cheap motel, not a resort.

Great location. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Pool and surrounding areas were clean. My son and I visited in February 2026 before the UK school half term which is a quiet season. Only downside for this hotel is I could hear trucks/coaches pulling in to the parking area from around 6am but I am a light sleeper. Good value for money.

It was okay. I really would give 2.5 stars, so I rounded up. You get what you pay for I guess. The rooms are big. The bathroom was a little moldy but you could tell someone cleans it fairly regularly. They only gave 2 regular coffee pods for a 2 person 3 night stay. I asked the front desk for more coffee pods and they never came. I would advise bringing instant coffee if you like your coffee first thing in the morning. The line for the front desk is usually at-least 15 minutes long. Also, some of the lights in the room didn’t work. Had to switch our first room away from the volleyball court cuz people were playing volleyball with loud music at 10PM. Don’t go to the concierge for your “free gift..” it’s just someone trying to sell you a time share. We were able to take the bus for $2 bucks each way to Sea World instead of paying for parking at the park so that was nice.

This place is located in the center of EVERYTHING. Front desk staff was very nice and polite. The check-in was easy and the water was very hit(loved it). Free charging station for electric cars. 🥰
Things that was disturbing, the place didn't have free breakfast like advertised. The place needs a make over. The rooms needs updating for sure. The elevator was taking soo long. I just feel like it needs to be renovation it would help so much.

Been at Avanti many times and going again in February, next week. Absolutely love this place. The vibe, the atmosphere, the rooms, the people. All of it. And it's more or less smack dab in the middle of I-Drive, so you can take a relaxing stroll left or right out of the resort and wander the fun in each direction. Avanti is phenomenal. They have 2 properties and both are wonderful, but the International Resort is my favorite.
