I had an amazing stay at Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa! The resort itself is absolutely beautiful, and everything was always clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly for the most part, and everyone worked hard to make our stay enjoyable.
One of my favorite things was having access to both Secrets and Breathless. Breathless always had something fun going on if you wanted music, entertainment, and a more lively atmosphere. Secrets was perfect for relaxing, unwinding, and enjoying a quieter vacation. It really gave us the best of both worlds.
We stayed as Preferred Club guests, and it was 100% worth it. The added amenities and service made our trip even more enjoyable.
If I had one critique, it would be the food. While the restaurants were decent and there was plenty of variety, many dishes lacked seasoning and flavor. At times it reminded me of nursing home food it wasn’t bad, just very bland. A little more attention to balancing flavors would make a huge difference.
That said, I didn’t come to Cancun just for the food. I came to rest, relax, have fun, and make memories and that’s exactly what I got. My daughter had an absolute blast, we met some of the kindest and funniest people during our stay, and we left with wonderful memories.

We did a quick girl's trip to Secrets which gives you access to Breathless. Secrets is low key, that allows you to relax, enjoy being waited on and soak up the sun. Breathless is where you go to turn up and party! Our bartender Jesus on the preferred side was amazing! The entertainment crew on the preferred side made my day each day I was at the pool! The service and friendliness of the all staff did not go unnoticed. Over drinks one night, we met the fitness instructor that convinced us to attend her underwater spin class. The class was fun and we went again right afterwards; although I paid for it the next day. On our last day, we attended the Mexican experience which was my favorite!!!
Do yourself a favor and hit up Secrets when you want baecation or Breathless when you want to party!!

Xavier Mendes the bellman at Secrets/Breathless literally made our trip worth it after a horrible experience at another resort and our last minute transfer. He single handedly changed our entire mindset and trip. He checked in on us daily and just lifted our spirits. Absolutely grateful.
Vivianna also our concierge was so good at her job.
Overall the resort was beautiful. Restaurants were great. The staff was so welcoming. Like I said, after a horrible experience elsewhere, this was the breath of fresh air and relaxation we wanted.

We spent our 39th anniversary there and just returned from spending our 40th there. The place is always great. Everything is top notch. The service is great, especially are poolside waiter Nedel. He's been the absolute best two years running. You need a drink he's your man when your drinks about to run out he's there with another one. Very friendly and very respectful. Can't wait to order drinks from him next year

We chose Secrets Riviera Cancun Resort to celebrate our anniversary, and unfortunately, it turned into one of the worst travel experiences we’ve had.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming. Several staff members came across as standoffish, and there seemed to be more focus on upselling than providing genuine hospitality.
When we got to our room, it was unacceptable. There was a strong sewage smell coming from the water—both the sink and shower—which made it uncomfortable to even wash our faces or brush our teeth. A manager came to check and acknowledged the odor but dismissed it as “normal,” which was shocking. We were told we would have to wait two days to be moved unless we paid extra to upgrade, which felt completely unreasonable given the condition of the room.
When we were finally moved, the next room was not much better. There were visible blood stains on the sheets, the floors were dirty, the shower was unclean, and there were ants on the deck. We were told the room had been inspected, which made the condition even more concerning. We ended up living out of our suitcases for several days.
To make matters worse, one of our personal belongings—my husband’s expensive electric toothbrush—went missing. When we reported it, we were asked to allow a search through our personal items, which felt invasive and inappropriate, so we declined. Hours later, we were told the toothbrush had been “found,” but when returned, it appeared to have been used, which was extremely disturbing. Additionally, some of my personal skincare items also went missing.
Management response was very slow. It took several days for anyone to properly address our concerns, and we were not moved to a more suitable suite until day five—by then, our anniversary was already ruined.
Given everything that occurred, including how the situation was handled, it left us with serious concerns about accountability and oversight. I will be contacting Hyatt directly to formally address this experience.
Beyond that, the beach area was not well maintained, and the food did not meet expectations. While we did meet some nice people during our stay, the overall service and treatment we experienced left a very negative impression.
We have stayed at other Secrets resorts before, but this was by far the worst experience. I truly regret choosing this location and would not recommend it.
