I will start with the things I liked, which is why I am still giving 2 stars. The hotel itself looks nice, it is clean, and the food was really good. Every evening there was a small program for children with songs and dances, which I actually liked. But…
We were on vacation in December with a child almost 3 years old. We chose this hotel because it said it had heated pool water and indoor and outdoor playgrounds for children. In reality, the pool water was very cold — I think the ocean water was warmer — which was very disappointing. As for the playgrounds… the outdoor one was closed for security reasons because it was windy, and the indoor one was just a larger room with a few tables and chairs and a few toys, probably left behind by other guests.
There were two ladies who were probably supposed to do activities with the children, but in reality they were sitting and watching a movie, which completely disappointed me. You go on vacation precisely to disconnect from the virtual world, and they were watching a movie.
I don’t know what to say… for us, with a small child, it was not a very pleasant experience, and I certainly would not come back, nor would I recommend it.

Bitacora Las Americas is a fab hotel for both familes and adults looking for a chilled vibe. The hotel caters well for all! All staff are great and as we travelled with our 6 & 8 year old the entertainment team were super, in particular Dogman. Full of energy and lovely with our girls. Definitely will be coming back here

Now that we are back home in England, I wanted to share an honest and balanced review of our Christmas stay at Spring Hotel Bitácora.
Unfortunately, there was one very serious issue during our stay involving my daughter, which significantly affected our holiday. Without going into medical detail, she became acutely unwell on Christmas Eve, and this continued through to Boxing Day, meaning our Christmas Eve/day/Boxing Day was ruined and she was too weak to properly eat or enjoy food for much of that time.
What was most upsetting was how this was handled. Despite the clear reality of the situation, including my daughter being visibly unwell in the dining area, the response from management felt focused more on protocol and liability than care or acknowledgment. Although the hotel after me being upset and explained that I don’t have money to pay for DocTors callout fee, the hotel offered to cover it. Clearly a doctor that they know very well considering they were having conversation and laughter once he had administered injection to my daughter. This was especially disappointing given that I later became aware that other guests were also unwell that same evening, which was not acknowledged at the time.
I was also extremely disappointed with how I was spoken to by a staff member named Andreas when raising my concerns. Andreas was not the person I had spoken to at reception on arrival. At check-in, I politely asked the receptionist if a pool-view room might be available as it was my daughter’s birthday. I fully accepted when this wasn’t possible and had no issue with that. For this unrelated request to later be referenced negatively when my daughter became unwell was completely unprofessional and very upsetting for me. Also whilst explaining the situation to Andreas there was concerning conversation regarding poultry. He told me that poultry could be cooked “to your preference.” I explained that I am a trained cook, and he responded that he is as well. I then pointed out that undercooked turkey or chicken breast is unsafe, particularly for children, and should not be served undercooked. I think the hotel should acknowledge that this exchange took place, as poultry is widely recognized as one of the riskiest foods when not properly cooked.
As a single mother who used every penny I had to give my girls a special and first Christmas away, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of empathy or understanding shown while dealing with my daughter’s illness. Two full days of our holiday were taken up by her being unwell, yet I did not feel that our situation was treated with any real compassion or regard. No gesture of goodwill or support was offered while we were still at the hotel, which I feel could have helped resolve the situation at the time.
That said, I want to be clear that the majority of staff were fantastic, especially the restaurant team, who were kind, attentive, and extremely supportive when my daughter was unwell. Reception staff on arrival were also friendly and professional.
Aside from that incident, we had a lovely holiday overall. The facilities for children are excellent — the water slides, children’s park, and entertainment kept the kids very happy. Our room (629) was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a lovely island and slight sea view. The Christmas Day dinner and entertainment were excellent, with a fantastic food selection and great atmosphere.
Parents should be aware that on half-board plus, drinks from the pool bar and Fun Bar can add up quickly, as everything is charged via wristband and settled at the end of the stay.
Overall, we did enjoy our time at the hotel. Would I stay again? Possibly — although I would also like to explore other hotels in the future. Would I stay again? Possibly, but I would also like to explore other hotels that have a clear history of genuinely caring for their guests and openly acknowledging when things go wrong, as on this occasion I did feel dismissed especially as a child was involved!

We loved our time in this hotel. It was spotless clean, always smelt beautiful too. The food was lovely. Great selection so there was something for everyone to eat, especially the desserts. I miss getting a gorgeous omelette being made to order and a cappuccino from the barista. Rachel, Dogman and Charlie, best entertainers ever and the variety of the entertainment at night was very good. They have a decently equipped gym too with air-conditioning & fresh towels to use during your workout. I can't wait to go back.

Amazing kids entertainment. Victor was amazing with the kids and made the effort to remember them every time we went kids club.
The hotel and staff are amazing and do as much as they can.
They work really hard with the amount they have Todo.
The evening entertainment is amazing. The all inclusive package is well worth it for a family.
The kids can pick from the main restaurant or the pool side bar for food or snacks.
Glad I pick this hotel over the others in the area.
Rooms are clean and spacious for a family.
As a family of 4 we did book with Jet2 and can't fault the out stay.
Thanks again bitacora Tenerife
