Stayed here for 5 nights with my partner and two friends. The positives of the hotel are the location is fantastic for a relaxed holiday. the selection of drinks is good and the food choice isnt bad for a all inclusive. Really let down by the rooms bodged plastering, damp feel even with the air-conditioning on constantly, not the best beds and bedding, just feels like it needs a good refurb and it would go along way to making it a great place to stay.

Great all inclusive hotel, so much to do. Especially for the kids. Footy pitches, basketball and tennis courts. Play areas indoor and outdoor. Plenty of space around all the pools. And different bar areas including and arena for entertainment. The small kids water play area was brilliant for our little one. we had the master suite and it was so so good. Especially the hot tub. So much space. Everything you need. Cleaning staff very nice. Food was fine, exactly what you expected for Spanish buffet style (nothing fancy and quite dated). Plenty of choice but very repetitive. Always stick to the more local fresh food e.g meat, veg and salad etc and you can’t go wrong. We went out for a few meals along flamingo beach which were great. Decent alcohol choice. Female Staff very helpful on reception except one man who was very rude when the cash machine swallowed my bank card and he would not help. Location is good if you don’t mind a 15 minute walk in to the main areas. Local cheap bus every 30 mins which does a round trip through Costa Blanca. We will deffo come back to this hotel as long as we can book the master suite.

THERE IS NO WAY THAT THIS HOTEL IS A 4 STAR HOTEL.
Was charged just under 4k for a week here recently, was highly recommended by cassidy travel and tuition, if im honest they conned us and shame on them.
This place is not a 4 star hotel, I can't stress that enough.
Food was cold unless you went to restaurant as soon as it opened for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Our room was full of mould and was absolutely filthy even after housekeeping.
There was no hot water in our room until our last morning.
The games room smelled like an old folks home, stale urine, the place was filthy and over 50% of the games were broken.
The lift was out of service when we got there and still out of service when leaving, having knee issues and having heavy baggage and children etc, this was extremely disappointing considering THIS PLACE IS SUPPOSEDLY 4 STAR.
In an all inclusive resort, there was absolutely nothing included for children i.e ice creams etc, this seemed to be a ploy so that you'd spend on refreshments in the on site supermarket which is full of ignorant staff and EXTORTIONATE prices.
The snack bar was filled with the left overs from breakfast lunch and dinner.
I asked for help after losing a jacket and I may aswel have been talking to a plank of wood, the majority of staff were of no help.
There so called heated pool was like having an ice bath.
Again, im stressing this stuff because we got fleeced, at just under 4k for a winter week it was implied by tui and cassidy travel that this place was the sun moon and stars, it was like a cheap rip off version of anything they told us.
Ps 2 rooms were broken I to while we stayed there, from what I gathered, there is no security and the hotel did nothing to report it.
Will be looking for some sort of reimbursement.

Firstly I’d like to add that my review is simply off our personal experience.
Reception check in was quick & simple, if you’ve never been and arrive in the night I can almost guarantee you’ll struggle to find your room as it isn’t clearly mapped out & not much lighting to guide you either.
There is plenty to do for kids , climbing frames, football pitch, tennis & splash park for little ones although a pre warning it is absolutely Baltic, we arrived 12-01-26 and we couldn’t have picked a worse week weather wise🤣🫣 the “heated” pool isn’t very warm especially when the outside temperature was touching 13°
Entertainment for kids lasted 10/15 minutes max they weren’t very engaging just sang 3 songs and they were done.
Although the grounds are well maintained & the rooms are clean you’d be glad to know that this hotel is much better than sister hotel paradise island as we paid €30 for a day pass we stayed for the whole of 1 hour the place is absolutely disgusting, filthy dirty if I can give any advise please don’t pay to go to dino park as it’s a complete rip off.
Overall I’d rate it 6/10

We recently completed a stay at the HL Rio Playa Blanca and found it to be an exceptional value for the price. The overall experience exceeded our expectations, offering high-quality amenities and service within a reasonable budget.
Accommodation & Housekeeping
Our suite was well-appointed and featured a unique open-air shower, which was a standout highlight. The room was consistently clean and tidy. We were particularly impressed by our housekeeper,
who added a thoughtful touch by redecorating the room every other day. While we noticed a few minor maintenance details, they were negligible in the context of the overall excellent service and did not detract from our stay.
Dining & Refreshments
The culinary offering was impressive, particularly the breakfast service. The live omelette station was a personal favourite, complemented by a wide selection of fresh fruits, cakes, and ice cream.
The dining area was well-managed and kept clean. Additionally, having access to tea, coffee, and soft drinks throughout the day was a very convenient feature.
Facilities & Entertainment
The pool area was excellent and maintained at a comfortable temperature, providing a cozy atmosphere even during longer swims.
The evening entertainment was of a high standard, with the fire show being a particular highlight of our visit. For those traveling with a vehicle, the ample on-site parking made logistics very simple.
Service & Atmosphere
The reception team was professional and helpful, addressing all our inquiries promptly. The hotel’s "nature-focused" ambiance and the fresh coastal breeze created a truly relaxing and refreshing environment.
Conclusion
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at HL Rio Playa Blanca. For travellers looking for a balanced mix of quality service, great food, and a beautiful setting in Playa Blanca, we highly recommend this hotel.
