What a wonderful experience at Domes Lake Algarve, especially at Antonino's Restaurant!
The first time, my girlfriend and I had dinner there and were looked after by Ana and Lenny. They were absolutely wonderful friendly, attentive, and always making sure we had everything we needed. They took the time to explain the menu in English, French, and Portuguese, which made us feel truly welcome.
We enjoyed the experience so much that we returned a few days later with a couple of friends visiting from Switzerland. They were equally impressed by the outstanding food, the atmosphere, and the exceptional service.
One thing is certain: we will definitely be back next year! This time, we will also book a room at the hotel so we can fully enjoy this beautiful resort.
I highly recommend both the hotel and Antonino's Restaurant. A special thank you to Lenny, Ana, and Gabriel for their outstanding hospitality and for making our visits so memorable. I would also like to thank another waiter, whose name I unfortunately can't remember, for introducing us to the delicious welcome cocktail.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at Domes Lake Algarve with my partner and our 8-month-old baby, and it was the perfect first family holiday.
From the moment we arrived, everything was seamless. Every member of staff—Pilar who first welcomed us, the reception and restaurant teams to the pool staff and housekeeping—was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and genuinely went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.
Travelling with a baby can be challenging, but the hotel made it so much easier by providing a steriliser, baby bath, cot, and baby toiletries. These thoughtful touches meant we could pack lighter and focus on enjoying our holiday.
What really sets this hotel apart is how beautifully it combines luxury with being family-friendly. It never felt like a children's resort, which meant it was peaceful and relaxing yet it had everything we needed for our little one. The facilities are excellent, with two swimming pools as well as a unique man-made beach pool, giving plenty of choice throughout the day. The stunning beach is also just a five-minute walk away and is absolutely worth visiting. It also has this fabulous boardwalk route around the grounds which was a great bonus for our daily nap walks.
The food was another highlight of our stay. The breakfast and dinner buffets offered an incredible variety and consistently high quality. A special mention must go to Antonino's, which served fantastic Italian food in a wonderful atmosphere, made even more special by the live singers performing most evenings.
Thank you to everyone at Domes Lake Algarve for making our first holiday as a family so special, relaxing, and memorable. We left with wonderful memories and cannot wait to return

This was our third visit to Domes Lake, so we do still regard it as an excellent hotel. The location, outside the marina but within short walking distance, is ideal. Access to the beach is also easily walkable. The hotel has ample free parking too. The rooms are well equipped and many have good views over the excellent grounds, lake and the boardwalk around it.
Breakfast consists of a very extensive buffet. Dinner options vary with an a la carte choice or a small 'set menu' with some packages. Food quality during our most recent visit was very good.
There were only a handful of 'negatives'. Coffee at breakfast is served at the table from flasks. The coffee isn't always as hot as it could be and occasionally, it takes a while to get someone to bring a refill. The tea/coffee tray in the room was not replenished on any of the three days we stayed. Finally, the indoo pool was too cold for a 'spa' pool (evidenced by the small number of people using it). Additionally, a couple of the spa jets were not working nor was some of the ceiling lighting.
That said, this is still a very nice hotel and worth visiting.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Beautifully landscaped gardens everywhere, super clean, amazing facilities and great food options on site.
We travelled with two small kids and stayed in a residence which was perfect for our needs. Spacious, private and modern.
The staff were all very child friendly and welcoming of kids which made our stay really enjoyable.

The main issue with our “Tropical Family Retreat” was privacy. At around £1,000 per night, it was not what we expected at all. Neither the toilet nor bathroom had a lock, and the bathroom had louvre-style doors with a visible gap, which was awkward with curious children aged 4, 4 and 3 constantly running about. It was difficult to use the toilet in peace or shower and get changed comfortably.
At one point I ended up taking a suitcase into the toilet, turning it on its side and holding it against the door with my foot just to keep the door closed. My wife and I also ended up taking turns taking the kids out for breakfast so the other could shower and get ready privately.
Reception kept referring the issue to “the manager”, but ultimately dismissed it as a fire safety matter, as if it was obvious that bathroom locks would be a risk. That may explain not having a full lock, but almost every other hotel room we have stayed in has managed to provide both bathroom privacy and safety. We were told all rooms were designed this way and that the hotel was fully booked, so there was no alternative room available. To be clear, the privacy issue was not really due to the louvre vents themselves, but because there was a noticeable gap where the two doors met in the corner, making it easy to see through even when the doors were fully closed.
The rooms were tired but clean, and there was also a very loud fire escape-style door on the staircase at the end of the corridor which echoed day and night throughout our stay.
That said, there were plenty of positives. The food breakfast and evening buffet were good — smaller than Maxx Royal Belek, where we stayed over Easter, but in our view much better curated, with lovely touches, strong variety and quality up there with an Ikos. It was also actually possible to book the à la carte restaurants, unlike our experience at Maxx Royal.
Overall, the stay had some very good points, but it felt like the name change and refurbishment were rather superficial when it came to the rooms, which still seem overlooked and not really suitable from a basic privacy point of view.
