We visited the Catalonia Ore Negro at the end of May .
We had a fantastic stay for 9 nights . Yes there was some works going on around one of the terraces . But this was well managed.
The reception staff were excellent .
Elizabet was very very helpfull.
Our room was in the main block overlooking the pool area and a panoramic view of Las Americas , the room was very very clean.
The breakfasts were superb , special mention to the young lady who makes the omlettes and delicous fried eggs .
The restaurant staff are excellant.
Special mentions to Camino & SR Mela and not forgetting David.
The evening meals are good , but we do eat out a couple of times.
There is always lots going on at the hotel round the pool and in the lounge at night. Led by the superb entertainment leaders , Karin & Noel.
We shall definately return this year.

My advice is to find another hotel if you have specific health or accessibility needs. We booked two standard rooms with bathtubs for medical reasons, but upon arrival, we were given two tiny rooms (half the size) with only showers.
The hotel staff showed no flexibility and simply said they were 'full.' If you are looking for a hotel that honors its reservations and cares about its guests' health requirements, look elsewhere. There are many other hotels in the area that are more reliable and professional.

Excellent hotel with great facilities.
Upon arrival, got upgraded to one of the best rooms for free. This room was very modern and stylish, with a good view of the pool area and the seafront.
Not too far for all the nightlife if your into that. Could not hear nightlife from the room which was good.
Great selection at breakfast and dinner with it being restocked often. Nuno and Anna were great at looking after us during breakfast and dinner.
Overall, 100% would stay here again

We would like to thank Mrs. Belem for her amazing service and kindness throughout our stay. She was always smiling, welcoming us warmly every day and making us feel truly special. She remembered us, which made every interaction even more personal and lovely. We could always talk with her, laugh together, and feel comfortable around her. Thanks to her positive energy and caring attitude, we were genuinely very happy. She is truly wonderful!

Our stay at the Catalonia Oro Negro was a mixed experience overall.
Firstly, we would like to thank the staff for upgrading our room free of charge to a lower-floor, pool-view room due to my fiancée being pregnant. This was greatly appreciated. The room came with its own private balcony and sun loungers, which was fantastic and definitely enhanced our holiday.
The room itself was relatively decent, and the housekeeping staff did a great job. The cleaners came every day, and we had no issues whatsoever in that regard.
Unfortunately, we did find a couple of cockroaches in the room during our stay. We reported this to reception, and the staff immediately offered us a room change. We explained that if the room could be treated and sprayed, we would be happy to remain where we were. The staff handled the situation professionally, but it was still disappointing to encounter this issue.
Our biggest concern was the food. Breakfast was generally decent, but dinner was a different story. The menu was very repetitive, with many of the same dishes appearing day after day. Some of the food choices were also quite unusual and confusing, such as aubergine and mushroom pizza and pork chop stew with raisins. On more than one occasion, chips appeared undercooked.
More concerning was what we observed regarding food hygiene. We witnessed a chef using the same tongs for both raw and cooked food, and on one occasion we were served a piece of chicken that was partly raw. Given that my fiancée is pregnant, this understandably caused us concern. As a result, we eventually lost confidence in the buffet and chose to eat elsewhere on several occasions.
I am not someone who normally complains or leaves negative reviews, but I feel these issues need to be addressed, particularly regarding food hygiene and quality control.
Overall, the hotel itself was good, the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and the room upgrade was a lovely gesture. However, the insect issue and concerns surrounding food hygiene and menu quality prevented this from being a truly positive experience.
