Just returned from another amazing Christmas/New Year break. We go to this amazing hotel every Christmas and another time in between! We are so well looked after as every guest is, but my mum and sister have mobility support needs and the care/attention they receive is so commendable. The team are always one step ahead, preempting and ensuring needs are met and safety maintained! We are just so grateful and they facilitate us making precious memories. If I could give 19 stars for service I would.
Our flight home was cancelled due to storm. I chose to book my own accommodation and claim after rather than go with the travel company. We needed familiarity for my mum with dementia. After 8 hours at the airport we were allowed to leave and checked back into Secrets 9 hours after checking out for one extra night. We were exhausted, mum muddled, sister anxious and when we got back through the doors, our favourite concierge (Liana) was waiting for us with the wheelchair, scooped us up and our cases, got us to our room. The reception staff (Alex and Walter) were so kind and sensitive to the situation. We were so hungry and were back in time for a much needed beautiful meal in the World Cafe. The wait staff again displayed such genuine care and attention to us. We left the next morning after a good nights sleep, a fortifying breakfast and were ably assisted with luggage by Josef.
Such exceptional customer service is so very rare and this unexpected extra night served as a really potent reminder of why we love Secrets and our Secrets family - they are literally on a different level. Thank you so much.

Never had a better welcome to a hotel, and the first evening meal was fabulous. Breakfast was generally very good (in Portofino) except our final breakfast where service had slowed down considerably, unless you walked in looking like an influencer with an abundance of plastic surgery, in which case you were served promptly by a man appearing to be more senior than the other staff (potentially with some drool running down his chin....).
This hotel has a lot going for it (loved the spa facilities in particular) but it was let down by the access via the car park, and behind a metal container, to get to an unloved area housing an archery board, table tennis tables and the tennis court. There are broken tiles on the floor too. There is another way to access this area, but unfortunately the signage is terrible so we couldn't find it - the receptionist gave us the two options.
The main criticism for me was the lack of sound proofing in the bedrooms. I would go so far as to say there is none. Our neighbour was watching something on their phone on their nightstand, and I could actually hear it word for word coming through the plug socket!!
Final note, which someone else raised. The majority of people visiting this location will be in a romantic relationship, so scrap the two beds.... I couldn't hold my partner in the night for an entire week!
Unfortunately I wouldn't look to return until soundproofing was implemented.

Our 2nd visit to Secrets and hopefully not our last.
We stayed in an all inclusive preferred room, which was spacious and worth every penny.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who went out of their way to make sure our holiday was perfect and it was.
A special mention to Carla who went the extra mile to make my birthday special, my wife and I will never forget that.
The food in all the restaurants was top class with a wide variety of cuisines.
The hotel just had a friendly and homely, which left you feeling relaxed.
We cannot wait to return

Honest review after a 5-night Christmas stay
I stayed here for five nights over Christmas with my mother (72) and myself (31). I’m half Spanish from Tenerife and half Irish, and we travel frequently, having stayed in many 5* hotels in Tenerife and abroad. This year, we wanted something different for Christmas without travelling too far.
I had previously stayed at Secrets Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic and loved it, so I had high expectations. We booked an all-inclusive Preferred room.
Staff & service
The staff were outstanding — genuinely warm, attentive, and memorable. Customer service was a real highlight. The only downside was that meals felt rushed, even in à la carte restaurants, with little time between courses. Asking for more time helped, but it wasn’t the default experience.
Food & drinks
The food felt repetitive across restaurants, with similar flavours and quality throughout. While good, it didn’t feel like a high-end dining experience compared to other 5* hotels we regularly visit in Tenerife.
For a Preferred all-inclusive package, the wine selection was disappointing and more limited than expected, especially considering the price.
Preferred experience & spa
The Preferred upgrade didn’t feel particularly exclusive. Apart from the excellent breakfast at Portofino, I didn’t feel it offered strong added value. Spa access was not included, which was disappointing, and information about spa passes for Hyatt members seemed inconsistent. That said, the spa facilities themselves were very good.
Rooms
Spacious, comfortable, and very well equipped — we were very happy with the room.
Location & weather
Lanzarote is beautiful, but in winter it’s noticeably cooler than South Tenerife. The pool wasn’t inviting at this time of year, so excursions are recommended. El Grifo winery (15 minutes away) was excellent, and there’s a nice marina market within walking distance.
Entertainment
For an adults-only resort at this price point, evening entertainment was limited. Shows ran from 9:30–10:30 pm, just as the evening atmosphere was building, and then ended — which felt underwhelming.
Overall
We had a lovely holiday and enjoyed our time, but for the price, there wasn’t a clear “wow” factor that set this hotel apart from other 5* options, particularly those in Tenerife. Experiences are subjective, but I hope this helps future guests decide based on what they personally value.

I stayed at this lovely hotel in Lanzarote in December and had a fantastic experience overall. The hotel is beautifully located close to the sea, which really adds to the relaxing atmosphere. The room was excellent, spotlessly clean, spacious, and the bed was incredibly comfortable, making it easy to get a great night’s sleep. The evening entertainment was great throughout our stay, and the food and drink were excellent, with plenty of choice and always flowing. Best of all, there’s no screaming children as it’s an adult only hotel, which is perfect for me.
My only criticism would be the acoustics. Unfortunately, the sound insulation isn’t very good, so you can clearly hear timber doors in the corridors slamming shut and noise from guests staying in rooms above walking around etc. Aside from this issue, it was an amazing stay and a hotel I would happily return to. Although, I would try to get a room on the top floor to avoid the acoustics issues.
