We'd seen some of the negative reviews for this hotel, but don't let them put you off. The fact is, Tunisia suffered from covid like the rest of the world and are recovering from it. As long as you go in understanding that yes the rooms are a bit dated and let's be honest you probably haven't paid a fortune to stay here all inclusive then actually you're going to love it. The staff are so polite and helpful, yes tipping helps but they serve you just as well on your first day when you haven't gotten to the cash point. The food is good, there's something for everyone. It gets repetitive, of course it does but you can get great pizza from the pool bar, there's a pasta station, freshly cooked fish in the restaurant and crepes for breakfast. The drinks are always flowing and the bartender by the pool never let's you go empty for long. We honestly loved our stay here, it is clean, there are plenty of food and drink options and it really wasnt that busy so we always got sun loungers. I think the biggest indicator is to look at how politely the hotel responds to its negative reviews; unfailingly polite and acknowledging it will endeavour to do better. We did a few day tours and seeing other hotels in the area and speaking to other tourists, this is actually one of the better places to stay for the money you're paying. It's in a good area, some areas are very run down and derelict but at Mehari it's a well maintained area, you are next to the beach, marina and there's a lovely medina for shopping. Accept you're not paying a lot of money and it's a bit dated and you'll have a fab time.

Never choose this place ,
Very unhygienic , management is not bothered to even listen to you , we came here for family holiday with one special child in our family , being a five star hotel they failed to even provide plain steam rice for first 24 hours of our arrival and the kid was left hungry , another member of our family fell sick after having a meal . Rooms are very dirty . Phones not working , no WIFI in rooms . Light bulbs not working , dirty corridors.
Stay away from this hotel if you don’t want to spoil your holidays.

Worst holiday experience – absolutely not a 5-star hotel
We stayed at this hotel during the Christmas holidays, and it was by far the worst holiday experience we have ever had. This hotel does not even deserve one star, let alone five stars.
Cockroach & Rat
The most shocking experience was seeing a large cockroach inside a food serving dish. I immediately informed the staff, and one staff member came over very calmly, crushed the cockroach between his fingers, and killed it.
Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident. Almost every day we had to kill cockroaches in the bathroom or toilet.
In addition, we saw a rat in the corridor on the fourth floor. The rat was also frightened and ran away through the emergency stairs.
Food quality:
The food quality was extremely poor. Leftover food from dinner was reheated and served again for lunch the next day. This process was repeated until the food was finished or repurposed into another dish. For example, a meat stew with tomato sauce served at dinner would appear the next day as minced meat mixed into pasta.
For a hotel advertised as five-star, it was unacceptable that the only fruit served at all meals was oranges, with mandarins served occasionally.
Staff:
The kitchen staff generally had a very poor attitude. However, some of the waiters were polite and helpful. One waiter in particular, named Ashraf, deserves special mention. He was polite, warm, and consistently provided excellent service.
Rooms & cleanliness:
If you plan to stay at this hotel, make sure to request a renovated room. Our room had carpet flooring that was extremely dirty and black. There were small insects flying inside the room and even on the bed sheets.
Housekeeping was only done upon request and there was no daily cleaning routine. Cleaning only included making the bed and changing towels; bed sheets were not changed daily.
Kids Club:
The hotel advertises having a kids club, but it is very misleading. This is not comparable to kids clubs in destinations such as Tenerife or Turkey, where children can be left safely with organized activities. At this hotel, the “kids club” was simply a small room where music was played for about one hour per day so children could dance. It was more like a short dance session than a real kids club.
Overall, this hotel completely failed to meet basic hygiene standards and did not come close to the expectations of a five-star hotel. I would not recommend it, especially for families.

An absolutely amazing hotel! Stunning location comfortable rooms and plenty of entertainment. The staff were all amazing! Ali at the private beach was fantastic, during our weeks stay he never stopped working and seemed to have eyes on the back of his head ensuring all guests were comfortable and happy he is a credit to the business. All staff were fantastic and made us feel so welcome and looked after! The bar and restaurant staff looked after us so well and housekeeping were amazing too, such a luxury to come back each day to a tidy room, fresh towels and spotless floors. There were minor improvements that could be made but over all an absolutely fantastic holiday, we are already planning our next trip. Thank you Mehari Hammamet!

My experience at this hotel was absolutely dreadful. I booked and paid for a room with a sea view, but was given a room without a balcony and with an awful, obstructed view. The room was unbearably hot at night with a lot of noise like refrigerator compressor, and the air conditioning did nothing to help. When I asked the reception for a room change, the staff were incredibly rude and dismissive, and they refused to help immediately, promising to move me the next day. When they finally did relocate me, the new room still did not meet my original booking and overlooked the garden instead of the promised sea view. The overall service was shockingly poor, and I felt completely let down. The food was awful and tasteless with limited choice. I would strongly advise against staying here.
