We loved this place, nice and clean everywhere we went, cleaners were the best, they came everyday, was lovely and polite. No air con, but asked for another fan and the maintenance man gave it to me. Reception were lovely the whole 11 days, friendly helpful, wifi is in reception, code needed.mall outside hotel Food and gift shops there chemist a bit further on, taxis to beach which was a crazy walk down these long steps, kids hated that. Food was plentiful and tasted lovely. Never was hungry. Bar man (elder man) was absolutely great, chatted and made a nice drink. Two lads that served were great too. All staff were fantastic. We came last August, we are looking at 2027 now. ❤️❤️

The hotel is clean and nicely situated with good views of the town. The staff are friendly. The food is good and you will not go hungry. The local Europa centre a shortvwalk but is a bit rundown. What lets it down are a few things. 1) Half the lifts/elevators dont work or miss out floors which when the hotel is on multi levels, is annoying. 2) The sunbed grab situation is dire, most beds are toweled by 6.30. There is no enforcement. It is abused so some beds have towels and no humans during the day. 3) The main pool is closed at 6 sharp so you need to be out of the pool and off the sunbeds. 4) no Aircon or ceiling fans. So the rooms are hot. You can arrange to hire a mobile Aircon unit which are ok not effective enough if you like it cool at night. The mobile units have a large duct which needs to be directed outside.
The the price, it was good value.

Stayed here on 2 occasions in 3 years and could not fault anything. You could consider the hotel being average and at a budget price, but that's the style of most in Spain.
The views of Puerto Rico are excellent and most likely guaranteed with any room. There are many regulars returning here.
Hotel itself is great being an old building, housekeeping and the whole team are doing an excellent job keeping it spotless. Rooms always freshened up by lovely cleaners who deserve a big thank.
Located on a hill, so a short taxi drive or a nice walk down the stairs to beaches.

Overall we had a fun and relaxing stay at Colina Mar. The hotel is situated high up on the mountainside and offers a stellar, breathtaking view over the entire Puerto Rico city, the mountains and the ocean. The hotel complex is sort-of "outside" where you feel like you're walking up and down the cliffside, which is neat.
The hotel is fairly old fashioned, basic, but fine. The room had good amenities and a functioning kitchen. Nice balcony with city/ocean view. Bed was fine, although sorely needs blackout curtains. When the sun rises, it's as if a flood light is turned on. TV worked okay although sometimes reception was poor, no big deal.
There's a neat little supermarket on the hotel grounds, which is handy for basics, else I recommend going to the Europe Center 5 minutes away and shop at Hiper Dino.
I tried the breakfast once and it was pretty mediocre, didn't eat there since. My mother in law ate at their dinner restaurant once and reported it was awful. We had some decent sandwiches at the pool snack bar and very good smoothies for reasonable prices. Otherwise we went to eat instead.
The pool area was both good and bad. Many recliners, and many different areas (two pools) and smaller quiet platforms further down the hotel grounds for those who prefer peace and quiet. At the main hotel area, be warned that they play LOUD pop music all evening. They also often have a guy yelling every hour for people to come play water polo, billiards, darts or whatever, and they even had a runway fashion sale at some point with music and speak. If you hate that, simply move to the secondary pool area and it will be quiet.
We had some bouts of heavy rain where the rain came in under the main door to our room, which was a bit of a mess. We had to mop it up and use towels and sandals to get around without getting wet feet. The cleaning staff was helpful.
The location is great, just a few minutes walk from the Europe Center, and amazing view. A taxi will take you to the central big Center in the middle of town in 10 minutes for about 6-7 Euro.

**A Holiday We Would Rather Forget**
I rarely leave negative reviews, but after our experience at Colina Mar Apartments, I feel a responsibility to warn other travellers.
This holiday was supposed to be a week of relaxation and family time. Instead, it became a stressful, upsetting experience filled with problems, poor customer service, illness, and constant frustration.
The problems started the moment we arrived. Despite our booking clearly being for three guests, the room had only been prepared for two. There was no bedding, no towels, and no essentials for the third guest. After a long journey, the last thing anyone wants is to return to reception and argue for basic items that should already be in the room.
What shocked us most was the attitude of the staff. Instead of apologising, they were dismissive and argumentative. Throughout our stay, every concern we raised seemed to be treated as an inconvenience.
The condition of the apartment was unacceptable. We documented everything with photographs because we genuinely could not believe the standard of cleanliness and maintenance. There were numerous issues within the room and around the hotel. When these concerns were raised, staff repeatedly hid behind the excuse that this was "only a 2-star hotel."
That excuse is simply not good enough.
No matter how many stars a hotel has, guests should expect a clean room, safe surroundings, and respectful treatment. Those are not luxury expectations. They are basic standards.
One of the most upsetting parts of our stay involved the food. During breakfast I ate food from the buffet that had an unpleasant smell and taste. I reported it immediately, concerned that something was wrong. My concerns were dismissed.
Shortly afterwards, I became seriously unwell with severe stomach pains, sickness, diarrhoea, and dizziness. I required medical treatment and medication and spent several days of my holiday feeling miserable instead of enjoying the break we had paid for.
Even more disappointing was the attitude of management.
My husband repeatedly raised concerns about food quality with the hotel manager, Anna. Rather than listening or investigating, she repeatedly insisted there was "nothing wrong." When invited to inspect the food herself, she refused. Instead of dealing with the complaint professionally, she argued with us and eventually stated that she did not want to continue the conversation.
I found this completely unacceptable.
A manager's role is to listen, investigate concerns, and help resolve problems. We experienced the exact opposite. We felt ignored, dismissed, and treated as though raising legitimate concerns was somehow unreasonable.
There was also an unpleasant incident involving a lifeguard whose behaviour towards my husband was aggressive and inappropriate. By this stage, our confidence in the hotel had completely disappeared.
Following my illness, we no longer felt comfortable using the all-inclusive facilities we had already paid for and ended up spending additional money eating elsewhere.
The saddest part of this experience is that so many of these problems could have been resolved if staff had simply listened and shown a basic level of professionalism and respect.
No guest should have to spend their holiday repeatedly reporting problems, defending legitimate concerns, and feeling ignored.
A holiday should leave you with happy memories.
Unfortunately, Colina Mar Apartments left us with disappointment, frustration, illness, and the feeling that nobody cared about our experience.
We will not be returning, and based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hotel to others.
