It's my favourite hotel in the whole world. Relaxed, by the sea, spacious, great pool, not crowded, just right. It has a car park with extremely helpful friendly staff. You can really wind down here. Great for families or couples or singles. Lovely staff in reception. Gorgeous seaview and beautiful, amazingly fast swallows flying overhead - their nests are in the roof of the hotel.

Beautiful venue and placement along the beach. Food was amazing! The staff did act like they didn't want to be there (I do understand that we speak English but we can't help that). Pool was amazing. There is a nice tennis court and putt putt course!
Rooms were decent size and did the job just aren't fancy if that is what you are looking for. Would recommend to go for the sea view opposed to the land view

Fabulous Hotel. It's a little bit dated but that adds to its charm.
Pleasantly surprised to find we had a 5th floor room with terrace and sun beds and views to die for.
The Pool area is stunning and never gets too crowded and no mad dash for a brolly.
We stayed Half Board but we tend to skip breakfast but the food on offer in the evening is terrific. A real good choice to suit any taste.
Pool side cafe is also a good choice with a wide ranging menu.
I only have one gripe and it is quite an issue that needs dealing with.
The dining room staff are clearly overworked, they are terribly understaffed and those that are there simply cannot read the room. They have no idea what is going on around them because they don't make eye contact.
Only a small gripe but you really shouldn't have to go chasing them down.

As possible one of the oldest couples staying there, our scheduled room was the farthest away from the lift on the top floor! Making this journey at least 6 times a day was out of the question. The balcony was a third in size of most others, but when requested we were found another room similar to previous years the following day.
Basically it's hard to ignore the fact that all staff do their best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible!

First stay in Vasco Da Gama, 4th stay in Monte Gordo. We loved it & are returning next Easter. Great welcome on check in lovely staff, hotel & room spotless, food was good, we were Full Board & maybe the only couple that were, we had a green wrist band, never saw anyone else with that colour. The restaurant obviously wasn't open just for us so we ate at the pool bar, we could choose anything we wanted from the menu, we were well fed. There was a lift over in the corner where you checked in to take you down to the restaurant/pool area, for anyone with walking difficulties. Towels €20pp refundable deposit. We left the hotel early in the morning so we received a packed breakfast. Ask at reception the day before & it gets taken to your room on the evening, we just popped it in the fridge. TV with English channels, Portuguese subtitles, BBC news, Sky news. The wardrobes must be the original ones from 1960, but did the job. Bed was so comfy with a modern headboard, immaculate bedding, luxury toiletries provided, hand wash, body lotion, shower gel, shampoo & conditioner. Lovely white towels, a slip mat for the shower. We had an over the bath shower but have requested a walk in for our next visit as it's easier access for my partner.
We had a brilliant time. Monte Gordo triathlon was a big bonus.
