Stayed here for 2 nights on short trip to re-visit this beautiful town. What exceptionally good value. The room price is unbeatable and includes a decent breakfast. The room was spacious, had effective heating (the nights were cold) and had a wonderful view of the town and castle. The public bar and lounge were also comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay, and will definitely return on our next visit to Portugal. Excellent!!

Beware of rooms with a garden/street view. We booked two double/twin rooms and were given bedrooms in the dungeon of the hotel. View was a car on blocks, a wall and bins. Disgusting smell in the room - a can of air freshener was left for our use. No access to wardrobe because the bed was in the way. Fire exit was through a storeroom for tools.
There was one room with a castle view available to move to but two in our party had to remain in the original room. Both bedrooms were not cleaned to a high standard.
The hotel is charming, old style decor but some bedrooms are a health and safety issue.
Breakfast is adequate. Pool nice. The hotel has great views and is in a great location. Fine for a weekend visit but be very careful what type of room you book!

While the rooms are dated, this hotel is a great option. The grounds are well maintained and it has a nice pool area. The rooms were clean, breakfast was included, and we had a small deck with a castle view. Overall, it was well worth the price. It's a good, budget friendly option.

Comfortable hotel with a nice outdoor pool. Some small service touches are lacking, for example they don’t provide pool towels - you have to take your bath towel from your room. Very nice views over the town. It’s a fairly easy walk into town for restaurants, castle, cathedral etc.

Our experience started when we we're "greeted" by the personnel, he was rude and not welcoming. Our room wasn't ready yet, so he told us go and comeback sometime later. When we arrived in the room we realised it was directly below the foyer which served breakfast from 7, which woke us up as the floors and walls are incredibly thin. We could hear people move in the hallway and their rooms, something I've never experienced before to this degree. The interior was outdated and the beds were hard with the pillows being nearly disintegrated. Expect nothing to be in your room, no teas, coffees, small shampoos or other toiletries and one power socket.
The cleaning service on the other hand was good and we had fresh towels everyday. Lastly the breakfast is very sad and basic. To end on a positive, the pool and location are very good. Make your own choices, but we're never going back.
