A stunning hotel in the heart of Hurghada. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful. The food was amazing, and the all-inclusive drinks list was far more extensive than at most resorts we’ve visited.
We would definitely rate this hotel 5 stars. The rooms were spotless, with beds made every morning, and our housekeeper was always friendly and greeted us with a smile.
We stayed over Christmas Day and were delighted to receive a small Christmas gift from the hotel. The festive decorations were beautiful, and the special Christmas dinner was a lovely touch.
While Hurghada itself isn’t much to shout about and some areas can feel a bit sketchy, the hotel felt completely safe, secure, and well looked after throughout our stay. Overall, the entire experience was exceptional, and we will absolutely be recommending this hotel to others.

I have just returned from a week all inclusive at the Royal Star Beach Resort. I am a solo traveller for 25 years on and off, mostly on.
My review is honest and based on my experience for the week.
I arrived early evening, reception looked nice, shown to my room, clean, tidy and sea view as booked. That was the best part of my holiday, other than leaving.
The lower paid staff were friendly & helpful. The remainder rude.
Entertainment was practically non-existent.
Evening meals each night were a choice of chicken, beef & occasionally, fish in varying disguises. Bland and tasteless, invariably cold. Rice or potatoes. The last night was duck! Alternatively, there was spaghetti bolognaise. Salads.
Breakfast continental style. Choice of omelette or fried eggs. Both looked the same on serving. Good choice of breads & pastries.
The toaster broke the 2nd day as did one of the coffee machines. Replaced 4 days later!
Lack of cups, plates and cutlery available each service.
The bar only served limited Egyptian spirits & no option to pay for branded ones. Only red wine available.
Pool area is nice, but a lack of sunbeds for the occupancy rate of the hotel. There are no facilities for families with younger children. The pool was 1.6m throughout.
Private beach left a lot to be desired. No wiggling of toes in sand. Broken beds ripped mattresses and very dirty.
There was a constant stream of locals trying to sell massages, waxes, pedicures etc on the complex which got a tad irritating, but they must earn a living!
This was once a lavish & much-loved hotel. Now it is very tired & unloved. The location is noisy & not ideal, but development has moved closer to the marina area leaving a trail of derelict & rundown buildings in the vicinity. Not safe to stroll about.
Positive things to point out:
The sister hotel is next door. Amenities for children are good. Nice gardens. Beach is good & sandy. Gets the sun all afternoon. There is a snack bar in the pool bar there, but you have to pay.
A visit to Hurghada Marina is a must. Lively, fabulous choice of restaurants & bars. Settle the taxi fare before venturing out!

Booked through Love Holidays who say this is a 4 star hotel, at most I would give a 3, the reception and pool area is 4 star and is kept very clean, unfortunately for us this is where the 4 stars end. We arrived late and thankfully the restaurant is kept open between 22.00-00.00 for late arrivals. The food was basic, probably left overs from main service, which was fine, the dining space is very small and tired looking. We were shown to our room to find 2 queen beds, there were 3 of us, my husband and I, plus our 12 year old daughter. The porter said he'd return shortly with a single bed, so we went and ate, whilst this was sorted, bearing in mind this was close to midnight. On return to the room a small zed bed had been installed with a mattress less than a couple of inches thick, our daughter could fill every spring every time she moved. We decided to remove the bed as it took up too much room and pushed the 2 queen beds together, 10 days of falling down a crack in the middle wasn't fun especially as both my hubby and I are disabled. The first night we fell in to bed after a long day of traveling, unfortunately sleep was minimized by the road noise outside the hotel, it is outside a hospital and with continuous night time horn beeping from drivers and motor bikes racing up and down through the night, this meant the first night we got no more than 4 hours broken sleep. In daylight we noticed the room was dusty and very tired looking, although I will say they were maintenance works going on throughout our stay, so I believe this was something they were actively working on before the summer holiday season. We had a welcome meeting at 9.30am and the gentleman we spoke to arranged with the reception to move us to another room, the same size just further away from the road. This was a newly decorated room and although still a bit dusty it was clean and comfortable, although still had some maintenance issues, such as bathroom handle coming off in hand and room door needing to be barged to be opened. Also there is loud music playing till 11pm every night. The restaurant staff are phenomenal and made us feel very well looked after and very welcome, we had our favourites who were very attentive and knew exactly how to be a host. The bar staff were great and a great laugh in the evenings. The pool area and beach are super close by and the pool attendants are again very attentive and happy to find sunbeds and umbrellas for you. The beach did have a lot of jellyfish on the sand (the pool attendants did their best to remove these daily) but we were assured they were dead, we went into the sea a fair amount and to our knowledge no one ever got stung. The excursion staff are very nice, although they are constantly trying to sell you something, so please pick up a red flag from a staff member and they will leave you alone. There were some issues with broken outside furniture, screws loose etc, broken mirror in lift, again nothing maintenance wouldnt fix.
Overall we had a great holiday, the people within the hotel made every effort to ensure we were very well looked after, with some double glazing and some repairs the hotel would most definitely be a 4 star, but I think the investment that would need to be made would probably make it unsustainable.

I had food poisoning from undercooked pasta sauce and crab. The room also kept stinking like poop. The wifi for a week was 20 euro’s. On the beach you get bothered so many times to buy something. There was one man who wouldn’t return after the first time so bless him. There was also someone from the staff that wanted my number which I didnt understand at first. But when I understood I felt very uncomfortable. When I asked for a coke zero at the bar at the beach, the guy asked me the difference between the two and still gave me regular coke. I have been approached by too many scammers inside the hotel making it super exhausting.
The only good thing I can say was that the pool tables were fun, the bar staff was amazing. The cleaning guy was nice, the one who escorted us in and out of the hotel was nice, the hotel was beautifully built so its rlly a shame of the smelly rooms, but they did try to fix it. The woman of the animations was kind and sweet to tell us what they were gonna do. There was a guy from the bag shops, from inside the hotel, who is really sweet.
Idk where they got their 4 stars from but it def didnt feel like one.

The Royal Star Hotel in Hurghada has its advantages; however, unfortunately our stay also left quite a lot to be desired. The food is acceptable – you can find something to eat, but it is difficult to describe it as particularly special or varied.
The biggest disappointment was the bar service, and the beach bar in particular was a complete failure. We had the impression that the staff approached guests with reluctance – the waiting time for drinks is long, and most of the staff seem as if they are serving you unwillingly. There is also often a problem with the availability of glasses, which frequently seem to be missing.
During one of our orders, the bartender reacted very nervously – he suddenly got up from his chair, gestured with his hands and threw his phone aside in a way that suggested irritation before finally preparing the drink. In another situation, when we opened the window in the bar, a staff member raised his voice at us, closed the window and said that nobody was allowed to smoke inside, even though none of us were smoking.
Additionally, we have a very negative opinion of the Chinese restaurant in the hotel – in our view the quality of both the food and the service was very poor, and we definitely do not recommend it.
We understand that every hotel has its own rules, but the way the staff communicated and the level of service left a lot to be desired. With a more polite and professional approach from the staff, the overall experience would certainly have been much more pleasant.
