Excellence Playa Mujeres is a stunning property with top-tier facilities, wonderful food, and a fantastic overall ambiance.
The resort team went out of their way to make special arrangements for our anniversary, which was a very thoughtful touch that we truly appreciated.
A special shoutout goes to Sully from the beach concierge, who was the absolute sweetest with her adorable sand art surprise! Also, Anjelo from entertainment was hands down the best,he was hilarious and knew exactly how to keep the entire group engaged and well entertained during the archery and salsa dancing classes.
However, despite these wonderful highlights, our stay was unfortunately overshadowed by a deeply frustrating incident on our very first day.
Despite upgrading to the Excellence Club, our initial service at the beach fell far short of expectations. We were constantly overlooked by the beach service staff(specifically the waiter).
The waiter repeatedly walked past us to take orders from surrounding groups while ignoring us entirely, and whenever we did manage to order, our food was almost always significantly late. It was disheartening to see that, despite paying for the upgraded tier, staff seemed to prioritize and attentively serve guests of a certain skin color presumably with the expectation of higher tips.(If a tip offered before service is what gives a guest good service that is no longer a tip but rather a bribe) And that also makes the whole purpose of having a seperate excellence club membership useless.
On top of that, when we dined at Magna, the quality control was really disappointing. I noticed shrimp wasn't cleaned properly the vein and digestive tract were completely left intact.
Between the lack of basic food preparation at an exclusive restaurant and feeling marginalized on the beach, our experience as Excellence Club guests has fallen far short of what was promised
While staff like Sully and Anjelo showed the absolute best of what this resort has to offer, luxury hospitality should mean equal, attentive care for every guest from day one.
I hope management addresses staff training regarding equal service standards and bias so future guests don't have their vacation marred right at the beginning.

My husband and I just returned from a stay at Excellence Playa Mujeres. We booked an Excellence Club Suite with a Private Plunge Pool Terrace in Building 7. The room itself was excellent,clean, well-appointed, and very comfortable. The private terrace and plunge pool were a highlight, with a great ocean view.
There were a couple of room-specific drawbacks. We were in 7418 at the end of the building. While we faced the ocean, there was a hallway that extended past the edge of our balcony. Throughout the stay, people regularly used that hallway to take photos, which made it a bit awkward when we were sitting outside. It also made using the jacuzzi difficult since its window faced that hallway directly. I suspect because of the hallway and our location at the end of the building, the evening entertainment music funneled up to our room at full volume each night. If you prefer turning in early, you may want to request a room farther from the Prelude Bar where the live music takes place.
Food: The Excellence Club upgrade is worth it here. We tried several restaurants, and Magna (club-exclusive) was easily the best meal of the trip. The steaks at The Grill were very good, though it’s loud inside. Lobster House was a great lunch spot and the fish tacos were a standout. Chez Isabelle was disappointing; our food was cold and lacked flavor. We ordered room service for breakfast most mornings and it was consistently excellent. We either ate on the balcony or brought it up to the terrace.
Bars were very good. We brought insulated cups, which helped keep drinks cold longer—I’d recommend doing the same. The mangolada was excellent, and the pink gin cocktail at Cielo was also a favorite.
One downside: the hot tubs were not heated, which was disappointing given that temperatures were slightly cooler than typical for that time of year. We weren’t the only guests who noticed.
Service was five-star across the board. Every employee we interacted with was polite, friendly, and helpful without being intrusive. We were looking for a relaxing, low-key getaway and that’s exactly what we got. I would recommend it.

What a fabulous experience for our first stay at Excellence Playa Mujeres! The resort is beautiful and so well cared for, our room was amazing, and the amenities in room and everywhere are excellent and so well thought out, but it’s truly the 5 star service from every employee here that really shines. With special note to Aldo who took such fabulous care of us at the cabanas on the beach, so friendly and kind, with excellent service and brought us yummy fruit kabobs and coconut drinks - making our last beach day here an experience that was so fun and memorable experience. And that includes his coworker Jesus too! Alberto who always had a friendly smile and attentive service, even at the hottest times of day, and every day we were on the beach. Caesar at the martini bar with literally the best agave syrup fresh squeezed lime top shelf margaritas ever. Aldrigo a server at the Grill restaurant welcoming us with fabulous service and food recommendations for our first night there. Alexia from entertainment services who, on a very buggy night (but we had big repellant thank goodness!) took the time to come speak with us while we waited for entertainment to ask about our stay and see if we were enjoying our evening. Ray at the front desk who welcomed us so warmly at check in. Paco our driver with Seasons resorts who took us to and from the resort - also excellent service! And so many other wonderful people here that I will have to remember names and come back here to recognize them. All of whom provided top tier hospitality services! We will most certainly be back.

This resort is incredible. From the food to the service, the people and the scenery everything was fantastic. I went for my honeymoon and it was the best week of my life. I highly recommend you come to Excellence. If you want to come to the beaches make sure you get to meet Aldo, he is so kind and accommodating. And if you’re needing your room to be cleaned and made homey, Adela is your girl - she’s amazing and so kind. Also make sure to take a salsa class from Angel - it was a blast! The shows are so much fun as well - and I love that I can get coffee and ice cream any time I want. 10/10 would recommend this place!

We stayed at Excellence Playa Mujeres for our babymoon and could not recommend it enough. The resort went out of their way to make our stay extra special such as sending a beautiful personalized cake to our room. Sully at the Excellence beach was particularly lovely. She made us an exquisite sandwich art to congratulate us on our babymoon and brought us multiple special treats including a cocoanut smoothie, chocolate covered strawberries, and fresh fruit. She made our stay truly memorable. We also did an amazing couples treatment at the spa and the staff made special arrangements to ensure I was comfortable and safe throughout the treatment. It was so relaxing and we felt so refreshed afterward. We love this resort and will absolutely be back soon.
