Only stay here if you don’t want to eat, sleep, or care for any type of service from the staff. Awful experience! Day one our family of 17 had to go to bed without eating. We waited a couple of hours for a table at one of the specialty restaurants because we were celebrating a birthday and when we asked for the status they laughed at us. They never stopped sitting other tables to make room for us. The only other option was room service. Their wait was 2+ hrs, mind you it was after 10 at this point and we had small children and they were out of many menu items. There was no other food options so we went to bed without eating after traveling all day. The nightly noise level (in all 5 rooms) was like nothing I have ever experienced. Night 2 a drunk guy tried to force himself into one of our rooms with a child in there and my family member was told to “calm down” over the phone while wrestling to shut the door. Same night, and every night after, raccoons and cats fight over the food on the floor from room service trays that never get picked up. Had to call to request pickup even though they weren’t even mine just so we could attempt to sleep. Day 3 the buffet ran out of food; we ate lettuce. We asked for a table together at the buffet and it was such a big deal that we ate at separate tables after that. They purposely cleared every other table before the one big table for us even though the dining room was empty. We had to ask for water refills several times before getting it. Again doing everything else before getting to our request. Food by the pool was out 80% of the time and all bars close at 5 except for the lobby with no AC or fans and away from everything else. The beach was full of seaweed that never gets cleaned so it smelled like dead bodies and you could not even stay on the sand most days. We provided this feedback to Manuel at the front desk and were told that seaweed is natural and they can’t help it like we are idiots. The arcade is only for children 10 and up and the “trampoline park “ is one small trampoline that was closed our entire stay. So nothing for small kids other than the pool. The cafe is fine unless you need more than 2 drinks then you are made to feel like a bother. So not convenient for big families.Their snack options are leftover pastries from the buffet, fruit salad that was syrup by our last day and sandwiches that were starting to turn colors. The spa experience was great. Alejandro at the beach bar was the only smile we saw in that place; always happy to serve. We were asked at checkout how our stay was only to be argued with when we gave our honest feedback. So at least they were consistent until the end.

Within minutes of arriving, staff was harassing us to visit their sister resort for a “special breakfast” and throwing coupons at us if we agreed to go. It seemed fishy so we turned it down. We literally JUST arrived and got off a long flight. Later, after my husband and I had some drinks, staff hunted us down and again tried bribing us into this breakfast. At that point we said maybe, but the next morning, staff found us again and asked “why didn’t you come to the special breakfast?! We were waiting for you!” And we felt uncomfortable. Hours later, staff AGAIN found us and chased us down about signing up for the breakfast. It honestly went on the entire trip. Extremely offputting.
Communication wasn’t great- we split our reservation with Hyatt points and cash, and staff couldn’t figure it out upon check-in despite us trying to explain. So they ended up calling us halfway through our trip and thought we were supposed to check out, and started calling our phone. We had to run over to the front desk to sort it out. We had to run back to our room to get our passports and re-check-in, it was all very silly and should’ve been handled upon check-in.
Other than that - the food was decent, 7/10 most days. The Italian and Asian restaurants were the best. Drink service by the pool was pretty good, it’s nice to have waiters coming around to your chairs. Wish more spots were open for lunch, options are limited around that time of day.
Beach was pretty nasty but the resort had a truck going all day to scoop up the sargassum - But I will say, neighboring resorts seemed to have much cleaner beaches than ours - do they have a better system/barrier? Our beach was much more soiled/stinky than theirs. We walked down the beach and had a better time off our resort.
The resort itself is clearly older but it’s actually pretty well maintained. Our room was making strange noises from the drains at night, but cosmetically it’s not too bad.
Spa was amazing and I highly recommend doing a treatment there and using the included amenities- so worth it!
Unsure if we would return but the experience overall was pretty decent for the price.

All of the staff here were amazing and incredibly attentive. We came with a large group for our wedding. Many staff members made our stay very special. Jennifer and Juan Carlos from the wedding department made our special day perfect and they made it come together so easily. Oliver and Viví from the entertainment team made our pool days so much more fun and my group had a great time doing a salsa dancing lesson with them. Glever in the lobby bar was an amazing bartender and my party was excited to be served by him in the lobby each night. Every staff member knew our names and made our experience so amazing.

We just returned from an amazing family vacation at Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa, travelling with our two boys (ages 10 and 12), and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay.
Although we experienced a small inconvenience upon arrival, Daniel, the resort manager, immediately took care of it and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic vacation. What impressed us most was that he checked in with us every day to make sure everything was perfect. His dedication to guest satisfaction truly stood out.
A huge thank you to Kira, our room attendant, whose exceptional hospitality and attention to detail kept our room spotless every day. We also want to recognize Israel, our pool attendant, who looked after us most days with outstanding, attentive service and always made sure we had everything we needed.
The entertainment at this resort is exceptional thanks to Caesar and his incredible team. The FIFA World Cup watch party for the Mexico vs. England match was so well organized, with an amazing atmosphere that brought everyone together and made the game an unforgettable experience. The 4th of July celebration was another highlight, featuring fantastic entertainment, an incredible pyrotechnics show, and an amazing fireworks display.
The activity pool staff were outstanding, organizing fun games every day and making guests feel welcome and involved. Our boys loved the activity pool, arcade, and Kids Club, and always had something fun to do.
One of the best decisions we made was renting a Bali bed by the activity pool. With the summer heat, it was the perfect place to relax in the shade between swims and made our pool days even more comfortable and enjoyable.
The resort itself is beautiful, spotless, and very well maintained, and every staff member we encountered was genuinely friendly and helpful.
The food was very good overall. We especially enjoyed Portofino, Himitsu, and the teppanyaki restaurant. The buffet was good but could offer a little more variety, while Oceana and Seaside Grill served good lunches but would benefit from a few more options, especially for kids.
The beach is beautiful, although there was quite a bit of sargassum during our stay, which is common during the summer months in this area of Mexico. The staff worked hard every day to keep the beach as clean as possible.
Overall, Dreams Riviera Cancun exceeded our expectations. The outstanding service, beautiful resort, excellent entertainment, family-friendly atmosphere, and genuine hospitality made this one of our favourite vacations. A sincere thank you to Daniel, Kira, Caesar and his entertainment team, Israel, and everyone else who worked so hard to make our stay so memorable.
We highly recommend Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa to families, couples, and anyone looking for a relaxing all-inclusive vacation.
