We had a wonderful family stay at AX Sunny Coast Resort & Spa from February 8th to 15th.
The hotel’s location is perfect, situated right on the coast. We truly enjoyed the amenities included in the price, especially the gym, the heated indoor pool and the jacuzzi, which were great for relaxing.
Our apartment was beautiful and very spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen.
Upon our request, they even provided a microwave, which was very helpful. Since we were traveling with a baby, the hotel staff went above and beyond, they provided a baby cot, a high chair, and even a stroller, which made moving around so much easier for us!
The absolute highlight, however, was the staff. A huge thank you to Tancila, Ali, Parth, Prkas and Poulin for their kindness and professionalism. They handled every request we had quickly and with such ease. Also, a special shout-out to the handyman Udeja for his great assistance.
The only minor downside was the 16:00 check-in time, which is a bit late for families arriving on early flights. But everything else was so perfect that we would definitely come back. Highly recommended!

Rooms are a little dated but honestly they were cleans and spacious for a great price. The location of the resort cannot be beat as you had access to several restaurants and we're given a discount to use at each of them. You also had two restaurants with great playgrounds for kids all indoors. It was such a good location we came back another night after we had switched hotels to Sliema. We drove all the way back here for the restaurants. Wishing we would have extended our stay at this place vs switching hotels to be closer to Valletta. Qwara is much quieter and accessible for walking for food and to get a taxi to see anything on the island is super fast.
A few things I would change is to have thicker pillows and a cooler room (we found it warm in the winter and couldn't change temperature so had to have the door open during the day and fan to cool the sleeping space). Also to have more European outlets or converters as we were told it was EU outlets in Malta and they only had one the rest are UK.

We stayed for one week in January. The location is perfect and we always found a parking spot for the rental car.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The apartment was spacious and well equiped. Traffic noice can be an issue. In general everything is a bit outdated, but spotless clean. When moving in, it smelled strongly - Indian cooking.
The indoor pool was a huge plus. Sometimes buisy, but perfect with kids.
If price is good, we will return.

We booked a week at the AX Sunny Coast and Spa apartments, Malta through Jet 2, based on the images on the web site. Walked into the apartment to perpetual darkness in the kitchen/dining area. No real windows except in one bedroom at the far end of the corridor, none of the other rooms, bathroom and other bedroom had any light just a small access to a service shaft in a couple of rooms. At the reception we told them that this was unacceptable and asked to be moved. After two hours the manager did move us to another room with a window now in the dining area with both bedrooms and bathroom now in darkness (still no windows). We agreed to accept this apartment (best of the Hobson's choice). Unlike the images shown on their website with the apartments overlooking the pool, you would think that the pool was in the hotel, in reality to get to the pool you have to cross the road (totally misleading). There was no bar or lounge and some guests had to go to the supermarket and sit at the hotels outside table with carry-outs. There were no restaurant in the place and we were given 10% vouchers to pizza bars etc down the road.
In the morning we woke to drilling at work behind the apartments and started to notice how rundown the place was. Faded picture on the wall which must have been there for ten years, cupboard doors and kick boards coming off on the units, dangerous light fitting and a patio door that had never had any maintenance possibly since the place was built. All in all, just a tired old donkey that has had no care or investment in years. After another night there we asked Jet 2 to move us to another hotel and resort and happy to pay the difference just to get out there.

Stayed in self catering apartment. Clean, spacious, great view (7th floor sea view). Reception helpful regarding local buses but instal and usel the tallinja app - we let a bus go that we should have been on because reception didn't mention it and had to wait 45 mins for the next. Parts of the complex looking tired, lifts in particular. Nice shady garden for guests only with tables and chairs.
