The hotel is big, lot is space, big rooms, nice swimming pools and freindly staff. The all you can eat buffet is rather on the quantity than on the quality side, but for such a huge amount of people is kind of expected. And they try to change the offer every day. However I think that the ratio quality price is not really high. Some corners are definitely used and would need a little bit of refreshment.
If you can find a nice offer/discount I would say it is a nice place.

I stayed at this accommodation for four days with my six-year-old child. Since it was Christmas, it felt especially special, but it also seemed that the staff are always kind and consistently maintain that sense of something special.
There was continuous attention for children, with games and clubs always available, and the staff kept coming up with fun and creative activities just for them. Adults could enjoy themselves as well. During Christmas, there was a Santa train, delicious food, and a Willy Wonka musical on stage—the performance quality was exceptionally high.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to them. Thank you for giving us a perfect Christmas
The hotel’s location is excellent, and the meals are both varied and delicious, making it easy to enjoy dining throughout the stay.
If there is one downside, it would be that if the pool water had been warmer, we definitely would have spent much more time playing in the water.

This hotel is in a convenient location with nearby amenities and within walking distance from the beach. Yumbo square is a 10-15 minute stroll away. Nearby bus services are also great which we used quite often to visit maspalomas faro which we much preferred in hindsight. The hotel it's self is ok, 3 star at best in my opinion. It is in need of some updating. Patio tiles in the grounds are often broken leaving holes and sharp edges for people to trip and fall or children to hurt them selves if they aren't paying attention to where they are stepping. The rooms and hallways need some care, and cleaning of the rooms was done to a very poor standard. Rubbish that didn't fit it the bins was never taken, coffee/tea making facilities not restocked either. It seemed as though the cleaners would empty the bin, make the bed and leave. The sofa bed for children is rock hard, I actually felt cruel putting my son on there. He struggled to get comfy and sleep for the first couple of nights. The pillows are paper thin and you get 1 per person. After calling down to reception to request an extra pillow, we were told that it was not possible. Towels to us around the pool are only a refundable €10 each, however it is a further €1 each time you wish to change it. Unfortunately both occasions that we requested a clean towel, there were non available. Baring in mind when we visited over the Christmas holidays, the resort appeared to be only at 50% occupancy, but still there were no towels or spare pillows. The all inclusive food was awful, In particular breakfast. For us the food was the main reason we would never return or recommend this hotel to any of our friends. Selection is poor, quality is poor also. I of course don't expect 5 star cuisine at a 4 star hotel but this is what I would of expected at a 2 star hotel. The all inclusive drinks are ok, I've had better, I've had worse. You can pay for a premium label at an additional charge which is needed every so often. The cocktails included are very sweet and aren't great to be honest. My hack was to ask for tequila and orange juice with a splash of grenadine as they tell you that tequila sunrise isn't on the menu. The staff who worked at the hotel, at least the ones working in hospitality i.e the bar, restaurant and front desk staff were very friendly and approachable but aside from that they didn't offer much help. I wouldn't stay here again but if you are after a well located hotel and year round sun and are happy to wat out the majority of the time then this hotel is ok. We payed all inclusive but needed up eating out more meals, certainly after the first 2 days.

Our stay at Abora Catarina is absolutely wonderful! We stayed in room 364 and sad to be leaving tomorrow. The hotel has such a warm and friendly atmosphere that made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We spent so many happy hours by the lovely pools, which are clean, bright, and perfect for relaxing.
A huge thank you to the very kind staff; their genuine smiles and helpfulness truly made our holiday special. The food was delicious with a fantastic variety to choose from every day. Plus, having easy access to the stunning Maspalomas Dunes for sunset walks was a dream. We leave feeling incredibly happy! / Madeleine and Joy

This year I stayed twice at the 3-star Abora Continental, and both stays were excellent. That is exactly why I decided to book the 4-star Catarina, expecting a better standard or at least something not worse. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed.
The staff deserve special recognition – friendly, polite and very professional. Sadly, this is where the positives mostly end.
The food was of very low quality and extremely repetitive, with almost the same dishes every day. Food was often missing and guests had to wait, as meals were served in very small portions. Despite having an all-inclusive package, I had to eat outside the hotel several times.
The rooms are very poorly soundproofed. Late at night, noise from children running in the corridors and in the room above was clearly audible, with sounds carrying through the walls and ceilings. In addition, from early morning there was construction work in the building opposite the hotel, which significantly affected rest.
The bed consisted of two single beds pushed together, but there was no locking mechanism. Because the beds are on wheels, they constantly moved apart. Throughout the stay, either my wife and I slept separately or had to squeeze into one bed, which was very uncomfortable.
The pool area feels very concrete-heavy and offers nothing special. For such a large hotel, I expected much better facilities. The games area is also poorly designed – the indoor billiard table is not properly lit, while the outdoor ping-pong and billiard tables are placed directly at the pool entrance, under an open sky and a very strong white halogen light, completely ruining the evening atmosphere. The area in front of the hotel also feels very concrete and uninviting.
To sum up: Gran Canaria is a wonderful destination, but unfortunately this hotel did not meet my expectations. I will not return. I can honestly recommend Abora Continental, but I cannot recommend Catarina.
Additionally, during lunch and dinner the coffee and tea machines in the dining area were not working. Guests were sent upstairs to use the machines in the main lobby, which is completely unacceptable for an all-inclusive hotel.
