A Mixed Stay: Great Staff and Renovated Rooms, But Ongoing Work Impacts Dining and Space
This review is a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, the staff were fantastic—attentive, helpful, and always ready to assist. The newly renovated rooms are also clean, though we did find some residual construction dust.
However, the renovations had a significant impact on our stay. While the work wasn't overly intrusive, we did experience a few days of noisy "demolition" while at the pool, which wasn't ideal. The biggest issue, though, was the dining experience. With the main restaurant closed for renovations, the meals were a definite step down from our previous visit. The quality of the food was still good, but the variety was severely lacking. In the past, the pastry selection alone was larger than the total amount of food now available.
Finally, while the rooms are new and clean, they are noticeably smaller than they were before the renovation. It's a shame, as the previous rooms felt much more spacious.
Overall, the hotel has a lot of potential once the work is complete, especially with such a great team. But for now, the ongoing renovations are impacting the experience, particularly the dining and room size.

We had a wonderful stay at Sheraton Soma Bay!
I would like to give special thanks to the Guest Relations team for their warm welcome, exceptional hospitality, and professionalism. They made us feel truly valued from the moment we arrived.
Also, a big thank you to the restaurant staff who were incredibly kind, respectful, and attentive. They went above and beyond to make our dining experience enjoyable, especially with how sweet and caring they were with my daughter.
Even though the hotel is currently undergoing renovations, the kindness and warm attitude of the staff were the highlight of our stay and made us feel completely at home. The renovations themselves are beautifully done — elegant, modern, and promising for an even more amazing future stay.
Thanks to all the amazing team, our stay was unforgettable. We’ll definitely be coming back!

I booked a B&B stay using points and requested an upgrade to half board or full board. Unfortunately, I was surprised to find that the hotel was asking for more than double the average rate for the upgrade — even compared to what I would’ve paid if I booked directly via the Marriott app or Booking.com with cash.
The cost of adding half board or all-inclusive ended up being more expensive than just booking a full package from the start, which felt quite unfair. I expected more flexibility or at least a reasonable top-up rate for loyal Marriott members using points.

The hotel is truly excellent. The beach is long, sandy, unbelievably beautiful and clean. There is a pier and coral reefs nearby — a perfect spot for diving and scuba diving.
The hotel is located 40 km from Hurghada, but tranfer can be easily arranged.
The only thing is that the hotel is quieter, so it might not be ideal for those who prefer a very active vacation — unless you create your own activities, like we did.
The food is very good and varied, everything is extremely clean, and the staff is very kind and helpful, without being overbearing — which is very important.
All compliments truly go to the entire staff and the chefs.
And for Mina☺️
Would I return to this hotel?
– Definitely!

We had a truly memorable stay at this hotel, one that fully lived up to the five-star rating – even by European standards. During our visit, the hotel was undergoing renovations, which slightly changed the usual offer (and the price was adjusted accordingly), but that didn’t affect the quality of service in any way.
The staff remained attentive, responsive, and professional, and the overall experience was seamless from start to finish.
We want to especially mention two people who made a big difference during our stay:
First, our room attendant Mohamed – not only was he exceptionally professional, but also proactive and genuinely caring. For example, we noticed ants around the coffee station, but before we could even mention it, Mohamed had already contacted pest control to handle the issue. He kept our room spotless, and small details like towel animals really added a nice, personal touch. Mohamed, thank you for your kindness and for going above and beyond!
Second, a big thank you to Doaa, the hotel’s lobby ambassador. From day one, she greeted us with warmth and excellent English, and was always there with a smile, helpful advice, and a positive attitude. She went out of her way more than once to make sure we had everything we needed, and even helped us celebrate a birthday during our stay in the sweetest way. Her presence made us feel truly welcome.
We also want to give credit to the restaurant team – despite the renovations, service was fast, efficient, and incredibly well organized. There was never any waiting, and everyone was attentive and quick to respond to anything we needed. Even the restaurant manager stepped in to help during busy hours, which speaks volumes about the team spirit and work ethic here.
And one more thing that really stood out – tips are shared equally among all staff, including kitchen and behind-the-scenes workers. That kind of fairness and team appreciation is something we honestly haven’t seen often, even in top-tier European hotels.
All in all – huge kudos to the entire Sheraton team. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant, warm, and memorable. We truly hope to return once the renovation is complete. Until then – keep up the amazing work, and we look forward to seeing you again.
