We stayed at Smy Kos Beach & Splash with our friends and our three small children (ages 3, 4 and 7) Our friends stayed for two weeks and we stayed for one week. Overall, I would rate the hotel 2/5.
The positive side: the staff members were extremely friendly, kind, and helpful throughout our stay. The splash area was ok for kids, and the hotel itself is family-friendly.
However, the hotel is located very far away from everything, so be prepared that there is not much nearby.
What really disappointed us was the complete lack of help from management at the end of our holiday. We had a very late flight after 10pm and were travelling with three small children, so we asked if we could pay for one extra night to keep the room until the evening.
Reception kept telling us there were “no rooms available,” yet we could clearly see rooms available online on the hotel website and Booking.com. The only difference was that online bookings required a minimum stay of two nights. Instead of explaining this honestly or trying to help us find a solution, management avoided speaking to us directly altogether. The manager stayed hidden in the office and sent staff members to repeat the same message.
We were not asking for a free upgrade — we simply wanted the option to pay extra for one more night so we wouldn’t have to spend the whole day travelling and waiting around with small children.
For a family-oriented hotel, this level of customer service from management was extremely disappointing and frustrating.

I’m currently staying here, we checked in 27/05. This is our first trip abroad ever, and I feel quite let down.
The air con stopped working on night 2, we called reception who said someone would be straight up. We waited 2 hours and no one came, we called back down and was told no one can come now and we’d have to wait until the morning.. why not say that the first time? We waited up for nothing!
It states free wifi 24/7, however we have complained several times now as it doesn’t work in the day time which I have made reception aware, the same response is “we will look into it” which doesn’t happen. I rely on the wifi to check into family at home, organise transfers to other villages and for work. I don’t have data roaming.
The food isn’t great, we have been going to the bar down the road as the food is far better even though we have to pay.
The entertainment is great, and Lucas and the team are brilliant.
I won’t be returning here, what should’ve been a great first time experience abroad hasn’t lived up to expectations and so far I’m truly gutted about this as I’ve been so excited for over a year.

We stayed at the Hotel for one week and were so sad when we had to leave.
The people were sooo nice and the service was great!
All of the animation team members are so talented and make the vacation so much fun!
The dancers Alba and Polina are such Sweethearts and we really had such a great time with them!
All of the staff ist very respectfull and competent.
The barmanager Thomas is always good and mixes the best drinks.

We stayed here for a week over May half term and the staff truly made the holiday special.
While we were away it was my daughter’s 8th birthday, and Regina, the Guest Services Manager, went above and beyond. I ordered a cake and the team decorated a table for us and brought the cake over singing happy birthday. Regina then offered to face paint my daughter, her sister, and 2 of her friends, and even left a small gift on my daughter’s bed. Thank you for making her day so memorable — she was thrilled.
Our only small frustration was that sun beds get reserved very early. When I mentioned this to one of the managers he was brilliant and immediately arranged for some spares to be brought out for us.
Hard-working, thoughtful staff and great service.

We had a brilliant time at **Smy Kos Beach & Splash**! The sandy beach is easily one of the best in the area, and the water is gorgeous. We loved the pool setup, which was clean and a total blast for the whole family. The buffet food was surprisingly tasty with plenty of fresh choices, and the girls at the reception were so sweet and helpful throughout our stay. Such a great find!
