We had an excellent stay at SBH Monica Beach Resort. The location is unbeatable – right on the beachfront with a wonderful golden sand beach and beautiful ocean views. Our room was spacious with a sofa, large balcony, and French doors that opened to stunning sea views. It was clean, comfortable, and we appreciated the complimentary sparkling wine on arrival. The hotel’s architecture is also a highlight – it blends well with the surroundings without looking like a massive concrete block, giving it a more eco-friendly and welcoming feel.
The resort is very family-oriented with plenty of activities for kids. There are pools with slides, daily entertainment by the pool (games, music, and dance), and evening programs in the clubhouse, which we enjoyed. While we spent most of our time swimming in the ocean and snorkeling, there are also multiple pools, a gym, tennis courts, and billiards. My personal routine was morning runs along the beach followed by a dip in the sea – absolutely refreshing.
The beach itself is stunning, with soft golden sand and clear blue waters. Sunbeds on the public beach are rented out by local authorities (around €15/day for two beds), but within the resort there are plenty of free sunbeds and gazebos if you prefer to relax while overlooking the beach.
We were on the all-inclusive plan and found the food and drink options abundant and varied. There were grilled meats, freshly fried fish, pizzas, pastas, salads, desserts, fresh fruits, and more. Drinks included tap wine, beer, soft drinks, and a good selection of cocktails – I particularly enjoyed the mojitos and vodka-lime. Restaurant staff welcomed us warmly at the entrance every day, which was a wonderful touch, and bartenders were equally friendly and smiling.
Booking directly on the hotel website was easy and straightforward. We also arranged the airport transfer through the hotel (€80 return for two people), which was efficient and about an hour’s drive. Our 8-day stay from August 14–24 was blessed with perfect weather – around 25°C with pleasant winds, making it comfortable for long days on the beach.
A couple of areas could be improved: the front desk could provide clearer, more helpful information, and the hotel should consider offering complimentary bottled water or at least filtered water refill stations.
Overall, this was an excellent holiday and I would highly recommend SBH Monica Beach Resort. The beachfront location at Costa Calma is outstanding, the facilities are great, and the staff made the experience even better. I would definitely return.

Like sooo many ... Read some horror stories. Wanted to share our opinion - Positive read!
Firstly - 3 adults and 3 kids 15,11 and 9 Years old.
Stayed for a week at the start of December.
Staff:
No complaints. We had originally booked to stay in the Fuerteventura Playa but that closed so we were moved by LoveHolidays.
Cockroaches - This isn't a 'the hotel is disgusting thing' it's a nature thing. Like coming to UK and moaning about flies and Bees.
We never saw any in the dining area. Me and my son actually kept trying to save them before they were getting killed 🤣
Customer Service : No complaints. To the point that at the end I told the manager that the reviews were rubbish about this place. The catering staff are more quiet and focused but they don't really speak English. So they may seem grumpy. If you try and talk to them they are lovely. Very hardworking. Don't stop.
Fried eggs a bit too slimy for me on top. Omelette and scrambled eggs were lush..
Food was good. By end of the week it's a bit samey but still nice. Never ate so much fruit and veg tbh!
When the restaurant is closed there is a snack bar..usually just whatever has been left over from breakfast but you can pick.
Drinks lovely. Alcohol drinks generous.
We were off peak so not many kids or kids activities on. That's ok. They still did a really cute disco of an evening and games of bingo. We aren't big evening drinkers. So it was enough for us.
I could see they had a kids club area that is probably opened during peak time.
Small playground on beach. Beach is attached to the hotel. Very easy access. Lovely beach.
Lots of Land Hermit Crabs in the water and rock pools. Also lots of squirrels that look exactly like chipmunks which was super cool.
Pools in December - Kids pool with slide was freezing. Paddle pool was freezing. Lifeguard on duty. Really nice lady.
Pools by main entrance - another one was freezing and the heated pool was 'heated' 🤣 it wasn't really it just had the chill factor removed..however we were here in December.
It didn't stop the kids!
Some activities and games near main pools for a few hours. They also made up some random cocktails which were tasty.
It states that you get free mini golf included at the hotel but you only get this if you get a voucher from the entertainment at the pool. If you go over to the sports centre yourself it's a few euros each and definitely not worth it.
Gym is free. I paid £60 for a 90 minute massage which was lurvelly. I didn't use them but tennis area seemed really popular.
Never struggled to get a sun lounger, however could see that at the peak of summer this would be an issue..we got to the pool after food in the afternoon and we always managed to find 5 together.
If you want to access all SBH hotels whilst on holiday It costs 6 Euros PP per Day and you can't just buy it for one day..you get the wrist band for the entire stay. We never did this as it would have cost alot for 6 of us, but it may be a good way to swap up this food choices and explore other pools and amenities.
Upon arriving manager checked us in early. We couldn't access our room until three but he gave us our wristbands and we were able to walk straight in for lunch. Which was really nice. They have a bag drop if you need to leave luggage
Lovely little shop on site - touristy tat mainly but few selection of refreshments etc..
I saw on an airline holiday page that if we had gone with them it would have cost us £3500 however we went with LH on a black Friday deal for £1800 with luggage and 6 people. I can und erstand why there would be complaints by people who have spent thousands. You want luxury.
If I had paid the £3500. I would not have been happy. It wasn't 5 Star. I'd say an extremely well kept 3 Star. That's not a criticism. However for our deal we were made up and would return. Definitely.
Thanks everyone for making our holiday awesome!

A mixed bag to be honest.
The hotel isn't bad, so don't immediately discount a visit.
The location and beach are fantastic.
The rooms are a bit tired and dated - someone had been let loose with some silicone sealant in our bathroom and you could tell. Just minor repairs here and there would make a big difference. 2 out of 3 urinals in the main reception were bagged over and out of use all week whilst we were there. In the smaller pool toilets, tiles were hanging off the wall (could have hurt a child if they fell). There was also a big electrical unit near the toilets that was uncovered and could easily have been messed with.
The pools are great, the kids love the slide one.
The restaurant is both good and bad.
Good - great selection of food, something different most days...the pizzas are great.
Bad - I was served raw pork one day and nobody seemed bothered (and I mean raw). Also, my wife is GF and the staff were putting products with gluten in under the GF sign. Again, when this was pointed out, they weren't bothered. You have to ask for GF bread in a morning (which my wife says is good), but no other products were offered. Then on the last day, they gave GF muffins, donuts and cakes!
Families of 4 or more struggle to get a table because of selfish people (singular or couples) sitting at tables of 4.
The safe is a €20 deposit and you need a little device to stick in to activate it.
The glasses for the drinks are frustratingly small. I know that's probably to discourage binge drinking, but it'd be good if they were a bit bigger.
The entertainment and animation team were good.
I know it sounds like I'm slating it, but it is worth visiting. The area is nice, the beach is perfect. Visit it.
