We paid 300 euros extra for a double seaview room and got a nice view of a wall and some stairs. We had to wait for the next day to get this sorted out. The next day the manager tried to sound all offended that we didn't like our room. I tried to explain that we only wanted what we paid for. We ended up in a room with a view to the pool and pool bar. It was better but still not what was promised to me when making a reservation. We also met several people who weren't happy with their room. The bed was unbearably hard. The food was ok. But not even free water for the dinner. You have to buy drinks. All in all I'd say 3 stars would be generous, definitely not a 4 star hotel.

We stayed at Castello Village Resort on a half-board basis, and unfortunately the overall experience was far below what we expected from a 4-star hotel.
The hotel feels old, poorly maintained, and neglected. This isn't limited to our room—the same issues are visible throughout the entire property. Peeling paint, scratched doors, worn finishes, dated equipment, and an overall lack of maintenance give the impression of a hotel that has not been properly cared for in years. The room itself looked like an unsuccessful attempt at modernization, with mismatched design elements and an old, very small TV.
Cleanliness and maintenance throughout the hotel are below the standard expected from a 4-star property.
The buffet offers a good variety of dishes, but the quality is only average. It is often obvious that some meals are repurposed from breakfast or previous days. While reducing food waste is understandable, the result frequently feels more like leftovers than freshly prepared dishes. On top of that, not even water is included with dinner on the half-board package.
The pool areas reflect the same lack of maintenance. Even more concerning is the absence of basic hygiene enforcement. During our stay, we witnessed a guest with a clearly visible open foot wound, only partially covered by a small waterproof bandage, entering a pool used by children, babies, and other guests, including a pregnant woman. We informed reception and suggested they have the guest medically assessed before using the pool, but the response was simply that they could not stop a guest from entering. This attitude towards hygiene and guest safety was very disappointing.
Another major issue is the noise created by the housekeeping staff. Every morning, before 7:00 a.m., they could be heard talking loudly, banging on doors and walls, handling their equipment carelessly, and dragging cleaning carts up and down the stairs with no apparent consideration for guests who were still sleeping. This happened repeatedly and is not what anyone expects from a hotel claiming to offer a relaxing 4-star experience.
Customer service was also inconsistent. The reception staff seemed unable to resolve even simple issues and often looked at guests without offering practical solutions. For example, when we reported a collapsing pool umbrella that posed a potential safety risk, the first question we were asked was for our room number instead of immediately arranging for someone to secure it.
The only reason I am not giving this hotel the lowest possible rating is because of Ervis, the restaurant manager, and Ilias from the maintenance team. Ervis is, without question, the standout member of staff at this hotel. He consistently goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome, always remains professional, approachable, and solution-oriented, and is willing to help even with matters that fall well outside his job description. Whether in the restaurant, the snack bar, or elsewhere around the resort, his dedication to customer satisfaction is exceptional and deserves recognition. Ilias also deserves special thanks for his professionalism and willingness to help whenever needed. Both gentlemen are a credit to this hotel and set an example that other departments should follow.
Overall, the location has potential, but poor maintenance, below-average cleanliness, weak management, and a lack of attention to guest comfort make this hotel feel much closer to a 3-star property than a genuine 4-star resort.

Me and my daughter had an amazing time at Castello Villiage and in Sissi, it's such a beautiful place. We really enjoyed the food (half board) and the choice of pools. The rooms were fairly basic but stylish, modern, clean and adequate.
We found the beds really comfy and the rainfall shower was very good. It was a pleasant surprise to have a sea view, despite booking a land view room.
We did water aerobics with Chris and really enjoyed it, especially the 'floaty, no floaty' part. We wanted to do it again with Matei the following day, but we were on a trip. The restaurant staff were lovely and the cleaners too, excellent service all round.
The only thing I would say is it would be nicer if the pools opened early and closed later. We would definitely return to Castello Village without a doubt.
Boufos beach is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, it's a lovely little cove, you need water shoes as it's rocky, the waves are fun and I saw lots of fish snorkeling around the rock. There is another small cove slightly further along without sunbeds and 10 to 15 minutes walk from the hotel is a lovely sand beach. We also swam in the harbour in the opposite direction from the hotel, just 5 minutes walk (you can use steps or the ladders into the water or walk around the harbour past palm bay and that side of the harbor has a shallow beach like entry to the water) . The harbour and the sand beach are great places for watching the sunsets.
We did a few excursions which were all amazing, Santorini for the day, two different happy train half day tours and sunset sailing boat trip where we saw two turtles.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at the Castello Village Resort in Crete. We booked the Suite with Jacuzzi and Sea View, and the room exceeded all our expectations. Waking up to the beautiful sea view every morning made our holiday truly unforgettable.
The breakfast was exceptional every single day, with a great variety of fresh and delicious food. The pancakes were especially outstanding and became one of our favorite parts of each morning.
The outdoor pool was always clean, and the atmosphere throughout the hotel was peaceful, relaxing, and perfect for a holiday in Crete. The housekeeping team did an excellent job keeping our room spotless, and all staff members were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and professional.
The hotel also offers very convenient parking, and having an affordable supermarket right next to the resort was a huge plus.
Overall, this is the best hotel we could imagine for a stay in Crete. The value for money is absolutely outstanding, and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a perfect vacation. We will definitely be back!
Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special. ❤️🌊☀️

A very good hotel. The rooms are beautiful. The girl at the front desk is a true professional—very friendly, sweet, and helpful with everything. Unfortunately, I only stayed for one night. If I had known, I would have stayed longer. Artem
