Overall I would recommend this resort as a first resort.
We have stayed in Cancun/Riviera maya 4-5 times. We have stayed at all inclusive in Belize and DR. My biggest complaint here is the service. More often than not you had to seek out staff or ask staff when you wanted/needed something. We usually book preferred club at secrets resorts and have always been satisfied. Even cheaper resorts have had better service. To begin our first day we received a less than ideal welcoming. The doorsman even asked if I was an Uber driver… I get I’m Hispanic and rented a car…
But dang…. This happened a few times 🥴. The guy who took our bags was very nice and helpful. We arrived early and got lunch at the kitchen table. We got some cold hard ribs… luckily this was the worst food we got there. Overall, I was highly pleased with dinner and breakfast. We did get good service from Adolfo, Seth, German, and a few others that I forgot to write down their name. The beach was full of sargassum the first 3 days. Luckily the 4th day winds changed and it was nice. I get nothing they can do but this was January so I can only imagine the summer months. Room service was good even though it took 40 minutes to get it. Very pleased with the room amenities and housekeeping. Alcoholic Drinks were good not great. Coffee house was great. Wish it was 24/7 like some other resorts. Also the excellence app sucks. They should add QR codes to the tables that direct you to the menus.
Overall a good resort but service/friendliness can be better. I’d recommend it as a good first resort.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and had an absolute BLAST! The food is great for a resort of this type and the staff has been friendly and accommodating. We love Angelo on the entertainment team, he made our activities super fun. And Concepcion served us a lovely meal at Spice restaurant. Special thank you to them for their lovely service!
Overall the grounds are beautifully kept, pools are great (water a little cold in January but there is a warmed pool and hot tubs around!).

The Excellence Cancun is by far my family’s favorite spot to vacation. When you first get to the facility, you are treated with champagne and cool towels. Such a nice and relaxing way to start the trip. The food is amazing as well. With multiple restaurants and bars, there is so much variety that it keeps everyday feeling fresh. The rooms are very big and have a such a luxurious feel to them. The grounds are gorgeous and well kept. But I will say the best part about the resort is the staff. Everyone who works there is truly amazing from the friendly cleaning staff to the event coordinators. Some people who come to mind are Alexis, Mark, Max, Diana, and Angelo. These people are truly amazing at their job and made our experience so much better. 10/10

The staff are incredibly attentive to their guests here. We are celebrating a birthday on this trip and the guests have been so happy to help us celebrate. Doing everything they can to make the birthday girl in my group feel extra happy.
Now, the building is over 20 years old, so some parts are noticeable if you have an eye for it. It's not a negative as they do an incredible job maintaining the property. The property just wasn't built yesterday.
We tried the Korean BBQ at Spice. Concepcion was incredible on the grill. A very interesting person to chat with and an absolute asset to this resort. He is a master at his brand.
We loved having access to the Excellence Club Lounge for drinks and snacks. The smoked tequila and go-berry were favorites in my group. I also tried to Tomahawk at the Magna (which requires Excellence Club membership). It was well worth the little extra for this club access. It also give you a special check-in and check-out desk from everyone else, exclusive access to two pools, another poolside bar called Cielo and a private beach.
Our housekeeper lady was one of the employees who stood out in our book. She'd always have a clean glass and cold water bottle next to the bedside when we got back from drinking each evening. She also collected up the birthday balloons from around the room and attempted to replace the dead ones with live ones to keep it all looking presentable. Remote and chocolate was always waiting on the bed also. You come back from eating and drinking and life here requires minimal effort from you to get to relaxing.
My only tip is I whish I had brought a back scratcher to relieve the itch from all the sun I got. Bring many bottles of sun block per person and avoid having to buy more from the gift shop.

We could not recommend this resort enough. We have been before and came back for Christmas and had a great time. The atmosphere is very upscale and relaxing. The rooms are huge. The grounds are well kept. There are many activities to keep you entertained though out the day if you want or you can just sit by the pool or the beach which is very well maintained and beautiful. The staff is amazing and feels like family. They knew us by name and made sure that we had a great time. Alexis always made our mornings fun with pickleball. We had lots of fun with Mark during the afternoon activities. We loved seeing Angelo who always brings the energy and the party. We are already planning our trip back next year and recommend a visit to all our friends and family.
