We have just come back from this hotel, there was 2 of us we did do a booking through Woucher so we didn’t expect much but this is under standard. We booked bed & breakfast 5 days for two. Firstly I have to say the staff are lovely and will help the best they can but sometimes the language barrier can be a little different to communicate. However the hotel is very run down and old looking the photos on the website make it look better than what it is. The rooms have a damp smell to them and very dark and dingy. The plugs and air con unit are hanging and have tape round the wires. During our stay the maid opened our door turn the light on in the bathroom and turned it back off again and walked out without a knock or hola house keeping even through we put the sign on the door saying Do Not Disturb. Also the luggage room is full with old stuff and very random so when checking out we had to leave our case in the corner at reception as we had a late flight coming home. The food looks like it had been sitting there for a few days, mouldy pineapple, bacon in the eggs which isn't fair on vegans, hard pastry’s. So we had to get food out every day in the mornings as we wasn’t going to risk eating it. Also it doesn’t give you much hope when a taxi driving drops you off back at the hotel and turn round and says ‘this hotel is not good’ and pointed to the hotel next door to us and says ‘this hotel is similar in price and is much better your hotel isn’t a nice hotel’ So if that doesn’t give you much conscience from the cab driver I hope this review will however the pool area needs little improving but overall is quite nice and doesn’t get very busy can easy get a sunbed in the sunshine or shade. But if you looking for a nice relaxing affordable, modern hotel then this isn’t the place for you. I will be avoiding this hotel forever but the location is really good as it’s near to the beach about 5 mins walk, shops near by and it’s in the middle of old town so easy access to taxi or if you wanted to walk is not far from many places.

Unfortunately, our experience at Hotel Mareny was very disappointing.
The room my husband and I received was fine, but the room given to our children was unacceptable. The window faced directly onto a wall and a ventilation system blowing out hot air, making it practically impossible to keep it open. Because the room could not be properly aired, there was a strong smell of damp and stale air.
What was especially disappointing is that I contacted the hotel before our arrival and specifically asked not to be given this type of room.
When we asked to change it, we were told that another room would not be available for three more days. After four days, the children finally received a room with a balcony, which was perfectly fine.
Unfortunately, at that point the air conditioning in our room stopped working. It was not repaired before the end of our seven-day stay, and the alternative offered to us was the same room our children had just moved out of. Spending several days without air conditioning in August, with night temperatures of 27–28°C and high humidity, is simply not acceptable.
We did not expect luxury, and we did not mind that the hotel and furniture were older. However, basic things should work proper ventilation, fresh air and functioning air conditioning.
On the positive side, the staff were polite, the rooms were cleaned every day, and the food was decent.
However, if you are considering this hotel, I would recommend looking at other options as well. For the same or a similar price, you can find much better accommodation in Benidorm. We definitely would not return.

Hotel Mareny is in great location. Short walk to beach, shops, grocery shops, restaurants and tapas alley. Busses to New town and La Marina shopping centre run nearby aswell.
The rooms smell damp and need some serious renovations. The laminates had big gaps, the ceiling had fallen at parts and been painted over etc. We also got room and the balcony is in to lightwell. Issue is that trying to dry clothes there made them smell like food and grease. The AC worked well. The beds are quite hard and the pillows should be renewed. On positive note the rooms are very well cleaned. Showers water pressure is very good but tends to keep swapping temperature while showering. I would have liked there to be bigger trashcan in the room. Sheets and towels were nice and soft.
Rooftop pool is nice add but it has seen better days and most of the chairs are broken and the ones working still are in bad shape. Also there is pipe where constant smell of food comes to pool. It does get sun all day long in some direction so can tan all day long. Also the part where it starts to go deeper is very clearly marked what is really positive thing. I do recommend to the hotel to add sign to the pool shower not to use it as toilet and tell where they can be found as lot of people went to urinate in the shower.
Food is more to local taste and needs salt most of the time but that's not issue. There is multiple options on every meal and also section more to kids taste. Fruit and veggie were fresh and there was plenty of dessert options too. On weekends at breakfast there was also waffles. The staff is very efficient at cleaning the tables.
Hotels elevator can be absolute pain on busy times of day. Its fast but the way it goes up and down slows it down and as there is just one small elevator it takes often long time to use it.
Hotels bar is recently renovated and the gentleman working there is a treasure. He seems to love his job and the drinks he makes are delicious and big and he nicely decorated them. Always so friendly and smiling. He also helps downstairs in restaurant. In the evenings there was lovely lady amusing kids and holding games and bingo. I would say that the biggest positives of the hotel is the staff. They dont all speak much English and some just words but they work hard and try their best to help.
If you want good location and friendly staff this is good hotel for it. I can recommend it even with some negatives.

Hotel Mareny is situated near to the beach and the old town just a five minute walk to both. The hotel rooms were basic but spotless clean with free Aircon, and the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water.
Breakfast was varied with plenty of choice. All staff were very friendly and helpful. A good budget hotel for a short break in Benidorm.

I find it so difficult to find fault with this hotel! It is spotlessly clean! And the staff are efficient and so eager to please.
Gonzalez in the bar deserves a 5 star review of his own! Reception staff too were marvellous. The decor is dated and if I’m honest an upgrade would benefit 100%. However everything is clean and bright and airy. The air conditioning in the rooms is efficient and I would recommend the place without hesitation.
