We had a lovely stay at Iberostar Waves Bouganville Playa in Tenerife. The staff were welcoming, attentive and made us feel very well looked after throughout our stay.
Our room was cleaned daily to a high standard, and staying on a Star Prestige basis made the experience feel even more special. There was also a great variety of food each day with plenty of choice.
❤During our stay, I also had my hair coloured, cut and styled by Sofia at Sofía Beneroso Beauty Salón inside the hotel. She was gentle, professional and created a beautiful colour that I absolutely love. It was such a treat during our holiday.❤
Overall, a relaxing and enjoyable stay — we would happily return.

this hotel is fantastic from start to finish, I genuinely cannot make it out to be bad! from arrival we was greeted very nicely, specifically Julio he was so friendly, he gave my son a floaty which matched his outfit that was a fantastic coincidence, everyday he saw us he spoke to us and just overall was really nice and fun!
Every staff member we encountered was amazing, they all had smiles on there faces, they was all so friendly from the reception/house keeping/restaurant/bar/entertainment staff EVERYONE, not one con experience with any of the staff
the rooms were very clean, the view was amazing, it overlooked the beach and also the pools.
The breakfast - loved it!
the evening a staff member does pancakes in different shapes etc massive hit for both the kids and adults.
The pools were very clean, the place in general was very clean. the pools were fantastic, the kiddie one is heated up.
The entertainment was really good also, the drinks strong and great!
the hotel is located very close to the beaches, food spots, karaoke bars, excursion bookings etc.
I could go on and on but honestly we will be back this hotel is amazing. must visit!

The service was good and the location is excellent, which are probably the strongest points of this hotel. However, overall it feels closer to a 3-star hotel rather than the category it advertises.
The building is positioned at almost a 180-degree angle to the sea, meaning that most rooms only have a side sea view. If you pay extra for a direct sea view it may be disappointing, as many rooms don’t actually face the sea fully. The hotel itself also looks quite dated and could definitely benefit from refurbishment, as many areas feel a bit tired and stuck in the past.
Another point to be aware of is that a “double room” is simply two single beds pushed together, which might not be ideal for couples expecting a proper double bed.
On the positive side, the food is excellent, with very good quality and plenty of variety. The Star Prestige upgrade is also worth considering, as it provides access to better sun loungers, quieter and more exclusive dining areas, and generally better located rooms.
Overall, while the location and food are very good, the hotel would need some updating to truly match a higher star rating.

Weather was calm no scorching heat which helped. Pools were busy but not too bad for an off peak season. Probably also the reason waiting for lifts were not too bad. Highly recommend room 968 for great views. Worth paying extra for the view and quietness.
We went half board which was sufficient in the middle of heavy lunch and dinner. On the day of our check out we paid for lunch at the snacks bar near the pool. This was an economical option. Thanks to Martha at the reception for recommending. Only issue was half board is denied water at breakfast and lunch which I found weird. I understand soft drinks. We were unaware and I hope management changes this and allows for water refills irrespective. Also since there are plenty of water filling stations across the property it shouldn't matter.
Being able to store luggage helped post checkout. Reception was efficient inspite of being super busy. Towels can be loaned for 20 euro each which is convenient.
I also recommend the marine facial. Lucia was a thorough professional and I enjoyed the massage. It was relaxing and indeed therapeutic. Great choice of music as well. You can book prior as they open by 10 am.
Our highlight of the trip was Dani. He was fun, polite, inclusive and kind. Thanks to Dani I tried out archery for the first time and aced it in 3 days. Hard working with multiple talents as he also hosts Bingo and mini disco for kids. He remembers every guest and makes sure to check on them throughout the day. Our Bingo host on 25th May was great fun and thoroughly entertaining. Talented and has a blessed voice. Hope he gets to establish himself as a singer. My son won Bingo that day so it was extra special.
We didn't check out the beach but there is direct access. Good amount of English channels on TV and we could easily switch audio to eng.
Overall a good stay with great facilities. Special mention to pizzas and Hashbrowns!!

The room is simple but clean, with plenty of space for a family trip and enough room for luggage.
The food offers a wide variety and the service is very good. However, the quality is inconsistent. Some pastries tasted like they had been sitting out for several days and were not crispy at all. The seafood seemed to be previously frozen, and some of the fruits did not appear fresh—some even looked like they had been soaked in an unknown liquid (see photos). In addition, not all dishes were labeled, so you often have to guess what you are eating. On a positive note, the chef making crepes on-site is fantastic—he can recreate any design you show him on your phone, and they taste great. There are always enough tables available, even during peak times.
On our first night at dinner, a staff member asked if we wanted drinks. Since we were on a half-board plan, I didn’t order anything special—just tap water and two apple juices. However, we were later charged €8.80 for the drinks without any prior notice.
The location is excellent, right next to a quiet, pleasant beach and only a 12-minute walk to Siam Park.
The swimming pools are good, especially the kids’ pool, which is perfect for children aged 2–10, they can easily spend hours there. That said, the pool closing time could be extended. It currently closes at 18:00, even though sunset is around 20:30in April; keeping it open until 19:00 would be more reasonable.
A €20 deposit is required to borrow towels, but the towels themselves are quite old.
Overall, the hotel is good and the kids were very happy with the stay, but there is definitely room for improvement.
