I have travelled most of the world and have stayed from luxury five star hotels in Venice to bush tents in Africa. I am a very discerning, pain in the neck, New Yorker who is hard to please. Sol Melia Guadalmar exceed all of my expectations! Rarely, unless you pay exorbitant prices, does one receive the kind of gentile, kind and efficient service that the Sol Guadalmar gave us. The hotel is beautifully and very cleanly appointed. It is bright, modern and very cheerful. The staff is ALWAYS cleaning the common areas, any request is instantly filled and the activities for both children and adults is terrific. The food is delicious, varied and very plentiful. The staff is one of the most professional and kind I have ever encountered in ANY hotel. They are absolutely amazing, always kind and welcoming, to boot!
Needless to say, you are located right in the beach and within a 15 minute, €12 cab ride to the magical city of Malaga. Taxis are called by the hotel and arrive within 5 minutes.
I could go on and on about how marvelous our week stay was in this beautiful, comfortable and kind oasis but I will close with the fact that it saddens me to have to leave today. My entire family, and most of all my 7 year old grandson, could not have had a better vacation! Gracias Sol Meliá! We will return!

The hotel was more than we expected as we were there December 2025 and arrived with all our family in July 2026 to find the hotel reception area and pool refurbished. The tennis courts replaced by Paddle, with a professional coach. Children entertainment was amazing and all the adults pulates etc and aqua sports were so enjoyed, especially the people who organised it all. Definitely go back again.

I rarely write negative reviews, but my stay at Sol Guadalmar Hotel left me with no choice. After reading the advertisements and seeing the photos online, I expected a pleasant and comfortable vacation. Instead, I spent most of my trip dealing with one frustration after another.
The problems started immediately at check in. There was a long wait, the reception area was crowded, and the process felt chaotic. Staff members did not seem particularly welcoming or interested in making guests feel comfortable.
When I entered the room, it looked nothing like I had imagined. The furniture appeared outdated, several areas looked poorly maintained, and the room lacked the fresh, clean feeling you expect when arriving at a hotel. It gave the impression that only the bare minimum effort had been made before guests arrived.
The cleanliness was especially disappointing. Dust could be found in several places, and the bathroom needed much more attention. Even after housekeeping visited, it often felt as though very little had actually been cleaned.
The food was another major issue. The buffet had limited variety, and many dishes were repetitive from one day to the next. Some hot meals were barely warm, while others lacked flavor completely. Breakfast became boring very quickly, and dinner never felt like something to look forward to.
One of the biggest annoyances was the noise. The walls seemed so thin that conversations from nearby rooms could easily be heard, along with children running through the corridors and doors constantly slamming. Relaxing or sleeping peacefully became almost impossible.
The pool area also failed to impress. During busy hours it was difficult to find available seating, and some parts of the facilities looked as though they had not been properly maintained in quite some time.
Customer service did not improve the experience either. Whenever I had a question or concern, the responses felt rushed and unhelpful. Instead of solving problems efficiently, staff often acted as though guest complaints were an inconvenience.
For the price paid, I expected a much higher standard in every aspect. The hotel may have a good location close to the beach, but that alone cannot compensate for poor maintenance, disappointing food, inconsistent cleaning, excessive noise, and underwhelming service.
Unfortunately, this was not the relaxing holiday I had hoped for. I would not return to Sol Guadalmar Hotel and cannot recommend it based on my personal experience.

We visited this hotel on our family holidays and left quite disappointed. Location is very very average. Nearby beach is the worst in area, quickly drops down making it unsafe for non-swimmers. Little to no restaurants nearby. One bus every hour makes it very difficult to commute without car.
The most awful thing was the hotel's greed. Additionally paid beverages at dinner, 10 euro for 3 glasses of juice, 5 euro for a tiny bottle of water. Additionally paid machines everywhere. You can just feel they just try to take your money.
Pool were decent however in small pool there were tiling coming off.
Last but not least, the hotel is located near airport runaway. Minor thing but hearing 500 airplanes daily is not ideal
I do not recommend visiting

Everything was very good, location, staff, cleanliness The beach was on our doorstep and the room was lovely with balcony overlooking the swimming pool and sea.
I am a pure vegetarian no meat fish or eggs, when I asked the chef at SOL by Meliá Málaga Guadalmar restaurant he told me they don’t do any vegetarian meals but they can give me a salad, that was the only downside, we would of liked to have a proper hot meal and dessert, if they did,it would of been great, we had to travel to Malaga & Torremolinos For evening meals at a restaurant, which was fine.
