Wow, I was pleasantly surprised as I had read mixed reviews. Very clean, I had my room cleaned and fresh towels every day. The food is amazing, such a wide choice and something for everyone. My compliments to the chef, outstanding. Location is perfect, right on the strip of shops and restaurants, again something for everyone. If I was to say anything negative, well more an observation, its an adults only hotel and im 61 and probably the youngest one there. At the time I visited anyway. The whole area is very lovely and definitely cater well for those less mobile. Not really much of a beach in this resort and its not so hot as in the south. My whole week I only had 3 days of sun and it was broken moments, nevertheless, still warm. If you want parties, bars etc then the north is not for you. If you want authentic then definitely the north. Hotel Catalonia did not disappoint, highly recommend

Just back from a fantastic week at this hotel. As it was one of the more budget-friendly options, we weren't quite sure what to expect, but it completely exceeded our expectations.
The location is excellent, with great facilities throughout the hotel. We arrived in the early hours due to our flight and, as we'd missed our first evening meal, the hotel kindly offered us a complimentary day of full board, which was a lovely gesture. We also received such a warm and friendly welcome despite the late arrival.
There was a great selection of food at both breakfast and dinner. Although the restaurant could get busy at peak times, tables were cleared quickly and there was always plenty of fresh food available. We also had lunch from the pool bar, which was very reasonably priced with generous portion sizes, and drinks throughout the hotel were also excellent value.
The pool was a good size, with plenty of sun loungers available each day, so there was no need to rush out early to reserve one. There was entertainment every evening, along with games and activities organised by the entertainment team during the day, which created a lovely atmosphere.
Every member of staff we encountered was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean, with our room serviced daily. Our room was spacious, as was the bathroom, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. There was a fridge and a smart TV in the room too which was a lovely addition.
One of the hotel's biggest strengths is its central location. It's just a stone's throw from shops, restaurants, the bus station, the Loro Parque train, and even has a McDonald's next door, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
Overall, we had a brilliant stay. The service was excellent, the facilities were great, and the value for money was outstanding. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a well-located hotel that offers far more than its price suggests.

where do i start.. well the room, hallway, lifts are all outdated, seriously needs a refurbishment.
the room has no plug sockets near the bed which is unforgivable really, sound proofing is bad, the room has bare minimums. i booked a balcony room with sea view and the view is average with a huge tree blocking my view on 4th floor(asked to change to a higher floor but said they were full). you can hear the wind all night long.
the food is not bad with many options and deserts. i booked for full board and you have to pay for drinks.
no parking at the hotel so if you had a car you’d struggle finding a spot to park as every street is full. i had to park at Be Live Orotava hotel and supermarket nearby(not cheap) €1.50 an hour.
location is very good, right in the centre of the town everything is accessible by foot.
weather on north side is complete opposite to south side. i wouldn’t recommend staying in north side.
would i recommend this hotel? no

The location is the best part. It's an adult-only building. It's an older building with older guests.
Disco night consists of three lights and salsa music that keeps you awake. Breakfast was good. We were not happy with our suppers; the quality of food was not what we hoped. At the buffet supper, they removed all the water, juice, and coffee that were available for breakfast and have you pay extra for everything. Water is 2.9 euros, and beer is 3 euros. You must pay to use the room safe. The lobby has caution tape where the ceiling is falling down. The food in local restaurants is excellent and not far away. We bought a lot of our drinks at the supermarket 20 m away. Bars on the strip are nice and have lots of atmosphere.

The rooms were in a reasonable condition. They were clean and presentable. We sat by the pool on the only day we had sun. When we went for dinner we were 1hour and 10 minutes. On our return we had a notice telling us off for reserving the beds. The lifeguard came over and quite rudely told me off as we were over 1 hour. Yet we witnessed at least 8 sun beds with towels on unoccupied for at least 3 hours and no notice was taken. The food was very substandard and the cook who was cooking chicken on the service used the same tongs for serving cooked chicken to guests as he had been using on the raw chicken. My wife and I left our food on the plate to go to waste. (This is a serious issue.)
The staff were very polite throughout our stay. A big shoutout to Pablo who was very nice and attentive.
We are unable to comment on the entertainment as it started too late in the evening for us.
Overall we had a reasonable stay but the afore mentioned issues spoilt an otherwise Great stay.
