**STAY WELL AWAY** this was one of the worst hotels that I have ever stepped foot in. Me and partner wanted to experience Corfu for what it had to offer and by the looks of the pictures ‘golden sands’ could accommodate that, how wrong we was! Let me start by saying the pictures you see on their website that represent them as a hotel are massively misleading, you’re NOWHERE near the beach and have to walk at-least 25-30 minutes to get to one, so don’t book this if you think you’re just going to be stepping outside on to the beach because you’re be met with a cliff edge and a derelict building. On arrival everything seems okay but immediately we was met with a €35 tax fee that we was not told about anywhere, have never had to pay this anywhere else… after paying this and sorting out where our room was we entered the room and was greeted by what can only be described as human waste smell, this was so heavy in our room and was for the whole of the stay, to the point where it has made me physically ill. The bathroom felt like it had been neglected and not taken care of for years prior this stay. Broken tiles, leaky radiators, dirty ceilings, the shower had no bracket in the wall to hold the shower head, the drains were one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever laid my eyes on along with the dirty curtains. Absolutely terrible. The beds felt like I was sleeping on rocks, but I dare say rocks would have been more comfortable! The outside balcony bit again, neglected and dirty. Putting the room aside, when going for food me and my partner could somedays not stomach what they had to offer.. I can’t describe how dissatisfied I was with the variety that was on offer. It felt like some of the meat was just not cooked straight through so I’d be wary when eating this, the flies all over the place which seem to have more of good time with the food are everywhere. The service from the staff in the kitchen was not bad, they seemed nice enough. There is absolutely nothing ‘golden’ about this hotel and I will never be coming back here, the standard is absolutely abysmal and if you’re reading this review I would advise you find somewhere else to spend your money.

Golden Sands is a small, cozy hotel that deserves more than its official 3 star rating. Its not a luxury resort, but it delivers the promised relaxing, stay close to the sea experience you hope for. I’d recommend it for anyone who wants a calm, sun-filled holiday without the need for constant adventure.

We had a great time for the 5 nights we booked. The rooms were facing the sea and offered a spectacular view. The bar and pool area were spacious and created a pleasant freshness. The hotel was clean, the rooms were cleaned every day, as were the sheets and towels. The food was very good and the staff very polite and smiling. The only exception was the morning bartender, who in our opinion was rude and provided poor quality service.

I would like to express my gratitude to all hotel staff and services. We stayed in July 2025, enjoyed every meal there, also everyone is very friendly, informative and kind! The staff at the restaurant and the bar are working hard and still being overly nice. The swimming pool area is clean, there is a lot of shade and space and the music from the bar is always cool! Special praise goes to DJ's!
All the best from your Serbian guests

My Stay at Golden Sands in Corfu – Mixed Feelings, Mostly Disappointment
I spent a few days at Golden Sands Hotel on the charming island of Corfu, but unfortunately – despite the beautiful location – the trip didn’t quite meet my expectations.
Let’s start with one of the biggest surprises: the hotel is not located near the beach. It takes at least a 20-minute walk to reach the sea, which might be a big downside for those expecting quick and easy access to the water and a sandy beach right by the hotel.
When it comes to food, that was honestly the biggest letdown. It wasn’t typically Greek, and it didn’t feel fresh at all. I had stomach issues after breakfast every day, which has never happened to me before on any trip. The selection was repetitive, and the overall quality left much to be desired. That’s definitely something the hotel should improve immediately.
The pool bar was also disappointing – poorly stocked, with very limited drink options. And the frappé coffee, which should be a Greek classic, was made so badly it was practically undrinkable.
On the positive side, the pool and green surroundings were nice – a peaceful spot to relax for a bit. The rooms were clean, though very basic, and the staff was generally friendly, though a bit disorganized at times.
To sum up: Golden Sands might work for travelers on a tight budget who don’t expect much. But if you’re looking for good food, decent coffee, beach access, and a higher standard – you’re better off looking elsewhere.
Personally, I wouldn’t stay there again, although I do highly recommend the island of Corfu itself – it’s beautiful and worth visiting.
