We cannot fault our stay at the Blue Horizon Hotel! From the staff, to the food, to the cleanliness, to the amenities and entertainment; it was just spot on. We felt so well looked after and welcome by every member of staff that worked there!
The food was absolutely spectacular, with different themed nights each night there was always SO much on offer and it was all so delicious and fresh. As someone with an egg allergy I am always nervous about food and restaurants, even in the UK. But the effort the staff and hotel went to, to ensure safety for people with allergies put me at so much ease. Everything was well labelled with the allergens listed, the chef came out every evening and talked me through the ingredients in many dishes and desserts which was just brilliant. A top class service which just made my personal experience 100x better. There were also lots of vegan and vegetarian options available and labels for people with celiac etc. (I just know how important this is for me when booking somewhere so thought I’d emphasise how brilliant this was).
The cleaners came in every single day and cleaned the room, made the beds and gave us fresh towels every day. This made us feel comfortable and so relaxed, we didn’t have to lift a finger. All the staff treated you like family, so welcome and kind with brilliant English too.
The location was spot on, with a walkway leading directly to the beach and lots of shops and restaurants really near by. There was a snack bar with delicious food throughout the day and a massage hut where I had a lovely back massage. Never a problem getting a sun lounger at any point in the day and the pool was perfect.
We will definitely be returning in the coming years to be treated again 🥰🇬🇷

Room:
- AC is not working from October on, we had very hot night in October with a baby, and window open, we got bitten by lots of moskitos. Reception gave us a fan as the room centralized fan was kind of useless.
- Toilet water is not refilling correctly in the room.
- Water drainage from the sink is leaking on the bathroom floor.
- Half bottom part of the fridge door is black from mold because of the door not closing correctly, and so the fridge is never cold.
- The whole room/hotel looks like not refreshed for the past 30 years at least.
Rest of the hotel:
- The food is of the lowest quality and taste in a hotel we have ever experienced… and we honestly do not understand the good reviews. Most of the food is from cans and not fresh at all. There is very little choice of fruits, all deserts are pre-made frozen catering. One evening, one of the kitchen worker refilled the mash potatoes tray directly from a huge can… the food was the biggest negative point for us in this hotel.
- Same as the room, the hotel looks very old.
- The elevator really needs to be replaced, everyone was annoyed. Extremely slow and squeezing people entering as they are not even detecting people passing. Dangerous with the kids!
- Not possible to eat (breakfast, lunch or dinner) outside from the main restaurant, only the snack bar and cafeteria (bar) have an outside sitting area.
- The pool is opening at 10am which we find quite late and we are awake at 7am.
- They don’t have any good coffee machine. Coffee from the main restaurant buffet is tetrapack pre-mixed coffee, we saw it being refilled (tastes like bad instant coffee). Wanted to get myself a good coffee from the snack bar and pay extra for it : they had only “caps” coffee.
Around the hotel:
- It’s a rocky beach and very windy and wavy (wind/kitesurf might be possible that as well was closed)
- Airplanes are passing just above the hotel making it impossible to nap outside or windows open
- Around the hotel is super touristic, shops and restaurants are made for tourists and the food quality is not great, but visiting further away you can find great restaurants.
- End of October, lots of shops, restaurants and hotels were closed for the winter already. Was a bit feeling like a ghost town.
Recommended restaurants around:
- Philerimos
- Gitonia
We do not understand the amount of good reviews fo this hotel.
The customers are mainly Germans and British, 60+, and maybe the food quality is not an issue for most of them.
The hotel is rated 4 stars (local) - this is a joke.
The positive point was the very nice people working in the hotel, cleaning ladies and at the restaurant.

Had an amazing 2 weeks. Rooms were clean and comfortable, entertainment was great. We went half board. Staff were really pleasant and helpful. Waiters and waitresses were friendly and helpful. Went above and beyond to make things good for us. A huge thank you to Maria, Nikolaos and Charis in the restaurant. Made our breakfast and evening meal even more enjoyable. Lovely people

Spent a nice week over my birthday this year here. The location is great, right next to the beach and the restaurant was very clean and delicious. The staff was kind and helpful. The pool could be a little bit cleaner cause someone pooped into it one day. But all in all I recommend the Blue Horizon Hotel in Ialysos, Rhodes. I would book it again someday.

Hotel and rooms are loverly, good size pool with life guard, and they have towels so you don't need your own. Tree covered path to the beach and a cafe where you can get food if your on half board (5 minutes) The restaurant is open 3 times a day with great food. Entertainment most nights in the bar ( table service)
