Excellent service throughout . From being greeted at the door. The welcome from the reception staff was very pleasant. My birthday was made very special by all the staff members who went over and above to make my day special. Each and every staff member that I engaged with was polite, respectful, friendly and kind. The entertainment team, Lewis and Theresa were excellent in entertaining us. Lovely walk to the market with Theresa today, learned from her about the area. Lewis and Theresa very enthusiastic and helpful team. Both made our time here very enjoyable.
I would love to come again

We booked this hotel purely on gut feeling after browsing a few random reviews, photos, and website details, and we are glad we did. It turned out to be a lovely place with great amenities and genuinely fantastic staff across the kitchen, restaurants, kids club, and housekeeping.
The kids club was a highlight. Miguel was fantastic with kids, taking them to feed fishes and turtles and keeping them entertained with card tricks and more. He made the experience very special for the little ones.
The restaurant staff were excellent. A couple of outlets were closed due to very few guests in the off season, which was understandable. The lady at the Bubbles Bar stood out with her friendly recommendations, and the chefs were wonderful to interact with. It was also nice to see several female chefs who added a warm and welcoming touch. The staff also arranged dietary requirements whenever we requested, which was very thoughtful.
Our room was spacious with a calming design, and the sea view from the sixteenth floor balcony was beautiful. Housekeeping was outstanding, keeping everything spotless and replenishing water daily.
The food was consistently good with a solid variety each day, and the dinner on our last night was exceptional, with flavours that still linger in my memory.
We shared a couple of minor suggestions during our stay, and the staff addressed them the same day, which we appreciated.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Luis is very friendly and informative, he’s a top guy! Always happy and chatting and cheerful.
Blankets on balconies and by the patio fires would be a real bonus…..happy to pay deposit if necessary.
Bar areas are a little chilly at night so heating would be appreciated.
A cosier room for evening entertainment would be better.
All staff are happy and smiling which makes me happy too!
The hotel is so very very clean.
Sunbeds in the most sunny areas would be better, away from the breeze.
I hate the stained plastic glasses….this is so not the five star experience….nobody is using the pool or walking barefoot so please, please allow adults to use glassware!!!!!
We would prefer a sea view room, we are sad to go home without this.
Thank you Pestana for a wonderful stay x

Location, Hotel, and Atmosphere
It’s conveniently located—a five-minute walk from the sandy beach, around a 35-minute walk to Alvor centre, and a 12-minute drive to Portimão (about €5 by Uber). There’s also a Cho Cho train that runs hourly for €5 per person.
The hotel itself was modern and beautifully designed, both inside and out. The infinity pool, in particular, was stunning. The small souvenir shop at the front of the hotel was handy for buying gifts. Entertainment was good, with a daily activity schedule. We especially enjoyed the Portuguese lessons with Bruna and aquarobics with Miguel. Evening entertainment usually featured live music, though it would have been nice to see a full show, especially given the unused stage area.
The hotel also offers a football field, pool table (pay-to-play), tennis court, and bowls area. However, considering the hotel has 325 rooms, it would have been nice to have more of these facilities, as we often had to wait or missed out on using them.
We also felt the hotel could do more to showcase the culture and history of Alvor—perhaps through art, music, or themed activities such as Kizomba dance lessons or local history talks. Without prior knowledge, it would be difficult to tell you were in Portugal just by being inside the hotel.
Regarding other guests’ comments about the elevator key card system—we actually found it efficient. However, on our last day, we got stuck in the lift for 50 minutes. Unfortunately, the alarm only connected to an external company where the operator spoke only Portuguese, and the call kept cutting off after about 10 seconds. With no phone signal, we couldn’t contact reception, which was extremely stressful, especially with our airport transfer waiting. Once we got out, the receptionist apologised, but it felt inadequate given the situation.
Staff and Service
The staff were professional, well-presented, and smartly dressed. However, we sometimes found them a bit preoccupied and not especially conversational. The bar staff at the Coral Bar, in particular, came across as abrupt—focused more on completing tasks than engaging with guests, which at times felt unfriendly.
That said, several staff members really stood out. Bruna and Miguel, as mentioned earlier, were fantastic, their energy and enthusiasm made the activities so much fun. Jetendra, our waiter, was incredibly helpful and friendly, always taking the time to check on us and chat. Angela, another waiter, was also wonderful, warm, attentive, and welcoming.
Overall
We had a lovely, relaxing holiday overall. Despite the issues mentioned, we ate well, laughed a lot, and enjoyed our time together. Some of the shortcomings may have been due to travelling outside of peak season, but overall, the hotel didn’t quite meet our five-star expectations and felt more like a four-star experience.
We’re glad we had the opportunity to stay here, but based on this visit, we wouldn’t choose to return if we were to visit Alvor again.

Currently here on a weeks holiday. The hotel is wonderful, the staff are great, very welcoming and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. Reception team are really nice, especially Joana she is very helpful.
The grounds are kept nice and clean, pools are cleaned often and with 4 of them (including an adults only one) they never feel crowded. Other hotel activities such as Padl and crazy golf are also on site as well as a fenced in football pitch, so there is plenty to do around the hotel.
The 4 restaurants offer a wide option if choices and the main restaurant has themed nights so there is always something new to try. Travelling with an allergy child can be tricky but the restaurant manager has made it really easy, providing vegan dessert options for our son so he doesnt miss out. Cannot express how appreciative we are for this.
The hotel location is amazing too, only 45 minutes from Faro airport.
The hotel is a short walk to a very beautiful picturesque beach or a 20 minutes walk into Alvor village. Our room has a sea view which is just stunning and we are close enough to hear the sea at night.
We have never been to this area of the Algarve before but after this trip, i am sure we will be back.
