Checked in early and the room was ready by 10:00, which was a great start. The TV didn’t work for four days — it didn’t bother us too much as I only watch the news while the wife is getting ready, but if you had children it would be a nightmare. Rooms are basic but have everything you need. We didn’t cook, just used the coffee machine. Towels are only changed if you ask.
The hotel definitely needs someone managing the pool area. It’s small, and people were reserving beds with towels and not using them until much later in the day.
Location is fantastic — right between the old town and the strip, next to a supermarket, and a few pubs and restaurant within a 3‑minute walk.

It's cheap.you get what you pay for.
We used it as a base.
It was outdated but clean.
Self catering had everything what's required.
Reception is pretty much non existent so if you arrive outside office hours you'll find your key in an envelope taped to the door.
There's no air con and WiFi is erratic.
No sunbed towels are provided.
The rooms are not cleaned whilst there but fresh towels and bog roll given once every three days.
It's well located.
Supermarkets within a minute as are bars and restaurants.
If taxi there it'll drop you off near these bars.at either end of these is the entrance to the hotel as they're not signed.
Reception is to the right of the Italian restaurant.
One great plus is the on site bar and cafe.seperate revue for that.
The pool is OK but I'm guessing is loud in summer with kids and inflatables.
There's no staff so to speak.
Sun longer are old and be careful with some as they've no support at all.
As I said you get what you pay for.

I was a bit scared after reading the reviews, but i booked anyway as i was on a budget and wanted to take my 2 girls away!
Absolutely loved our stay here.... i only never gave 5 stars because we saw a few cock roaches on 3 separate occasions in the kitchen area. But apart from that we loved every minute of Luz Y Mar, staff were friendly, Kathys pool bar was handy and amazing... the pool and pool side was lovely, apartment was 10/10 you get what you pay for but was clean and well equipped.
It's only a few minutes walk to a big shopping centre with plenty to do and a 10 minute walk to the beach front both new town and old. I love Lanzarote i have been loads of times, i will definitely stay at Luz Y Mar again.

Stayed here from 13th June to 29th . We shared 1 apartment with 3 adults and a baby. The room was big enough and clean enough. The pool area was adequate, plenty of sunbeds and Kathy's bar beside the pool was nice. The only trouble is , the noise around the complex from groups of lads at 4am jumping in and out of the pool drunk. Complained to reception and it was dealt with straight away. But, as soon as they went there was more groups to take their place.
We did enjoy ourselves, it's close enough to walk to maccy d's and the strip and lidl is 2 minutes walk away.
The Italian bar at the end of the apartments belong to Luz y mar . Not impressed and husband got food poisoning from the carbonara so, really wouldn't go back or recommend.

A lot of negative reviews which I think are quite harsh.
People pay 1-2 star prices and expect 5 star quality.
It's cheap and cheerful and you get what you pay for but it's clean and more than adequate.
Great location right in the middle of the old town and the strip.
Will definitely return.
