Our stay at Elounda Mare was nothing short of extraordinary. I've stayed at many hotels over the years, and this was hands down the best hotel experience I've ever had.
From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us like family. Every interaction felt genuine, personal, and effortless. They seemed to anticipate our needs before we even asked, and their attention to detail was remarkable. Whether it was recommending restaurants, arranging activities, or simply checking in to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, their level of service was unlike anything we've experienced. After dinner reservations they recommended, they even followed up to ask how our evening was—a small touch that made a huge impression.
Our two-bedroom suite was beautiful, spacious, and incredibly comfortable. The entire property feels like something out of a movie. Everywhere you look, there's another breathtaking view of the crystal-clear sea.
During our stay we enjoyed a fantastic wine tasting, played golf and tennis, relaxed by both the pool and the beach, and spent hours enjoying the stunning water. Every experience was first-class and flawlessly executed.
What truly sets Elounda Mare apart is how special they make you feel. Luxury isn't just beautiful rooms and amenities—it's creating an experience where guests feel genuinely valued, and Elounda Mare does that better than anywhere I've ever stayed.
We left with incredible memories and are already talking about when we can return. This is a truly special place, and I absolutely have to come back one day.

We were delighted with our stay at Elounda Mare. It is a large beautiful property that felt quiet and peaceful, despite the peak season. The pool side was never overly full, the beach was private for the hotel guests only and we always found deckchairs under the trees in the pretty garden overlooking the beach. Cretan summer temperatures were around a perfect 30 degrees and it was lovely to relax on a deck chair in the shade and read.
The staff are warm, friendly and professional, starting with Konstantinos at the front desk to the restaurant staff, to those that transported us in golf carts to the sister resort Porto Elounda, which had the nicer newer gym and spa. The gym at Mare was smaller with less equipment.
Loved the food at the Yacht Club especially the baked fish. The breakfast buffet was excellent quality too.
What truly made our holiday was the daily 9am yoga and Pilates run by Grit. She is a wonderful teacher. We also went to Grit’s sound healing which was very relaxing, and few other 11.15am sessions which were also very good. The fitness program photo is attached. Not sure why it’s not provided on the website. Woukd have liked some aqua-aerobics but there weren’t any.

Quiet/understated luxury & exceptional service!
We have been coming to the Elounda Mare for years now and would not even consider to try another hotel resort when in Crete. Coming back every time feels like coming home. The warm, personal, guest oriented service and love to detail here is truly special. Beautiful premises and classy rooms in a traditional cretan style and a lot of privacy as the resort stretches out and offers a lot of areas and space. All restaurants and bars offer high quality and fine dining experiences. They are always open for special requests and do the very best to accommodate guest wishes. And if you are looking for special events and activities: how about a trip on a sailing yacht, private cooking class, wine tasting…? The staff will create any surprise you might have in mind. Just like family. Thank you, Elounda Mare for maintaining old class in a fresh, modern way!
