Excellent staff on reception very good breakfast plentiful with variety. The room was a good size bathroom very good. Small outside space nice to have too. Beds very comfortable. I think the paintwork needs freshening up soon. Located away from the busy beach so noise wasn't an issue. The hill is very steep up and down to the beach. Emma and Mike the English bikers

Nice hotel. The staff were very friendly. The rooms could be updated a bit, but the staff keep the place very nice and clean. Great location as it is walkable to the beach and to all the restaurants it is also a very short drive to both. It is in an extremely nice and quiet area also with grocery stores a two minute drive away.

Our stay at this hotel was a nightmare. We checked in late because of our flight and the hotel had a musty smell and wallpaper was peeling in the room. Our eyes got red and itchy and my throat became irritated pretty soon after we got to our room. We turned on the AC and the next day the room had a really intense mold smell. We told reception about it and when maintenance came to the room they immediately noticed the smell. Then they upgraded us to a one bedroom suite which didn't smell like mold but still had a musty smell. There was ants crawling on the nightstand, so we didnt even feel comfortable taking our clothes out of the suitcase. Then in the evening there was a massive cockroach on the closet in the living room (see the picture). We called reception and it crawled into the closet and they told us the closet has been nailed shut since they did renovations and that we could let them know if it comes back out. I refused to stay in the room and they offered to change our room again but we asked to have the remainder of our stay refunded because we just did not want to stay there anymore. It was ruining our experience of the city because we were dealing with so many hotel issues. They refunded the rest of the stay and we checked out at 11 pm to find a new hotel. The employees were helpful but the hotel itself was a disaster.

Please read if you are planning to stay! Our experience was not good. We are currently staying at the hotel and not sure how this is considered a four star hotel. We did not have a good experience. The day we arrived at 2pm as per our booking, they said check-in is at 4pm. We traveled all the way from Lisbon early so we can make it for 2pm check-in and had to wait 2.5 hours as the room wasn’t ready. Wasted a lot of our time as we had plans which got delayed. The staff said they would try to get the room ready for 3pm, did not happen and room was ready around 4:15pm. The room we got was okay, bathroom was not cleaned well. When we came back to our room that night we noticed multiple BUGS!! They did not clean the room well even though they had 2.5 hours to clean it before our check-in at 2pm. We had to switch rooms in the middle of the night. The room we got after was a bit cleaner but their floorboard was broken. The hotel itself is old, decor to carpeting to the walls, things chipping off the wall, everything just seems old and doesn’t seem like it’s maintained well. Rooms are decent size if that’s all you care about. Only giving 1 star cause some of the staff were nice and were able to switch our room (which we shouldn’t have had to do in the first place!). Overall, not a good experience, I would not stay here again.

We stayed here towards the end of our trip. After driving a few hours from our last hotel, we arrived at Carvoeiro Hotel. Pleased to have parking included, but challenging to get a spot. Some folks parked wide, which took up extra spots. The grounds/landscape were well maintained. We were “greeted” by the front desk staff who were either at the end of shift or lacked life-force. We were given our keys and excitedly proceeded to the room down a dimly lit hallway. We opened the door and were instantly met with a foul odour, sewage or similar, and a hint of chemical. We ventured in and surveyed the room further. The room was spacious and tidy. Within moments we discovered why there was a chemical odour, as we started to see that this room had a small infestation of ants. We went back to the front desk to advise them of the concern, to which they provided a can of bug spray to use, and so we tried with no success. The ants continued to roam. We returned to the front desk and asked for another room. Their housekeepers quickly set-up a new room and helped us in. We still had the sewage odour, but no insects were visible. We ventured around the area, returning to the hotel later that evening greeted by a new front desk crew, with slightly more pep (slightly). We found the most helpful team was working the late evening/early morning shift. It was a comfortable stay, but as far as stays go, this hotel made us ready to head home. Can’t say I agree with the 4 star rating they’ve been awarded. I would just suggest that traveler set their expectations.
