Great location and magnificent views. There is still too much development, grazing, real estate for sale, and so on) and the truly protected areas should be expanded. But the rain forest near and around the Volcano is truly a treasure.

A must see attraction in costa Rica. A non-active volcano, which last erupted in 2010. We took a guided tour from our hotel and took the more difficult trail. The scenery is very beautiful and the guide gave the extra information needed to make it perfect.

Arenal Volcano is breathtaking from any angle, but seeing and filming it from above is truly incredible. The aerial view shows its perfect cone shape and the surrounding natural beauty in a unique way. An ideal spot for photography and video, and a must-see destination to understand why Arenal is one of Costa Rica’s most iconic places.

Hiking the Arenal Volcano was a true bucket-list experience and one I’ll never forget. The hike is picturesque from start to finish, with stunning views that constantly remind you how powerful and beautiful nature can be. One absolute lifesaver was packing ponchos ahead of time—the weather here is unpredictable and can shift quickly from bright and sunny to overcast and pouring rain in a matter of moments. I highly recommend hiring a walking tour guide. Having someone explain the rich geological and cultural history of the volcano adds an entirely new layer to the experience. I was genuinely shocked by how much history there is behind Arenal and the surrounding terrain—it transforms the hike from just a scenic walk into an educational journey. The hike itself offers a solid workout, but it’s well worth the effort. You leave not only physically accomplished, but also with a deeper appreciation for this incredible natural wonder.

When the sun shines, go to the mountain!! Now dormant I had the pleasure many years ago to see the lava field! Still a great visit. Sunday there is no charge for visiting the national park where there are well marked trails
