The hotel was amazing. The staff were kind and helpful. The room itself was very nice and very clean, the only complaint i had about the room was the balcony door couldn’t close properly and the beds were separate instead of 1 double bed (not ideal for a couple who love a cuddle) The walls were a bit thin since i could hear a couple next door arguing at about 2 in the morning lol. but that’s not necessarily the hotels fault. The pool is something i saw people complaining about but if im honest, i thought the pool was lovely and deep enough to swim in for all ages and abilities or good if you wanted to just cool off. The drinks were lovely but i would say small so i would finish a drink in one go and have to go get another but they tasted phenomenal. There was good options for food but i wouldn’t say it was the best food for all inclusive it was cold sometimes and lacked flavour on certain dishes. However breakfast was AMAZING. there a coffee machine in the food all and up in the lounge area which had a good selection too. There’s ATM’s, Vending machines that had snacks, drinks and pharmacy supplies (plasters, bug spray, toothpaste/brushes, sexual health products and menstrual products which i thought was good and inexpensive. There was lots to do in the area and the beach was clean and safe for all. We even visited Gibraltar on our trip which the hotel staff helped out with a lot! All in all i would recommend the hotel and re-visit for sure!

I stayed here for two nights, and unfortunately it was nowhere near worth the price. I genuinely don’t understand how this hotel has a 4-star rating—it felt much closer to a 2-star experience.
There were a few positives. The location is excellent and within walking distance of the town centre. The breakfast was also decent, with fluffy scrambled eggs and tasty pastries.
However, the negatives far outweighed the positives:
* The Wi-Fi was terrible and barely usable.
* There were no bins in the room, and the bathroom didn’t even have a lidded sanitary bin.
* The walls are incredibly thin. You can hear everything!!!
* We found ants in the room, and I woke up with bites on my legs after sleeping.
* The shower was awful. The temperature constantly switched between freezing cold and scalding hot without warning.
* There was no ironing board or iron available in the room. I was genuinely surprised, as even many 2-star hotels provide one. I don’t know how this wasn’t mentioned in previous reviews.
* The hotel advertises facilities like pool tables, air hockey and arcade games, but they’re all chargeable. Expect to pay €2 for the pool table, €1 for air hockey and extra for the arcade games. These facilities are also in poor condition, so it feels misleading to advertise them without making it clear they’re not included.
* If your room overlooks the river, be prepared for a bad smell in the evenings. It made sitting out on the balcony quite unpleasant.
* There’s only one pool, so it gets very crowded.
* We booked as a couple but were given two single beds pushed together instead of a proper double bed. The gap between the mattresses was uncomfortable, and my leg kept getting stuck between them.
* The toiletries were very basic—just hand soap and a combined hair/body wash. There were no extras like a toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers or tissues.
* The TV had very few channels. We only had something to watch because the World Cup happened to be on.
Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again. Aside from the location and breakfast, the hotel was disappointing and didn’t feel deserving of its 4-star rating, especially considering the price we paid.

I had a lovely stay here last week with a group of 8, and we felt incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived! The staff are very friendly and helpful. Upon arrival, they clearly explained what was covered under the all-inclusive package. They noted that the rooftop bar is an extra charge, but nicely offer a discount on drinks there for all-inclusive guests. It is well worth a visit—the cocktails were delicious and the staff up there were amazing! The buffet had a vast variety of delicious food. The dining staff were very attentive, always quick to offer drinks and clear away tables.Outside, the pool area was kept perfectly clean with bins emptied regularly. We also loved the direct access to the beach (just remember to bring your room key card to open the gate!).The hotel itself is in a beautiful location. There are lots of shops and supermarkets within easy walking distance. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend this hotel!

Absolutely appalled by our experience at Grand Hotel Costa del Sol. What should have been a relaxing holiday turned into stress, illness and genuine concerns about food safety.
The first major issue came at dinner when I was served a sausage that was visibly raw inside. We immediately took it to a member of staff, who removed all the remaining sausages from the buffet and had them cut in half and cooked further. We spent part of our holiday feeling unwell.
Shockingly, this was not a one-off incident. At another dinner service, we were served chicken that again appeared raw/undercooked in the middle. We took photos because at this point we simply could not believe it was happening again. After already becoming unwell earlier in the holiday, finding more undercooked meat was genuinely alarming and completely destroyed any confidence we had in eating at the hotel.
To make matters worse, on the day of departure we were initially told our all-inclusive would end at 12pm despite not leaving for the airport until the evening, leaving us with hours at the hotel without food or drinks. It was only after raising our concerns and complaints about the food issues that they finally agreed to let us keep our all-inclusive wristbands until we left.
The location may be lovely, but sadly the experience was overshadowed by poor food standards, lack of communication and handling of guest concerns. Serving meat that appears undercooked not once, but twice, is simply unacceptable. We left feeling disappointed, frustrated and very relieved to be going home. I would not return.

I stayed at Hotel Grans Costa del Sol and overall had a pleasant stay, though there are a few areas where the hotel could improve.
First of all, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, which made check-in and any questions during the stay easy. One of the bar staff members was especially kind and made us some very nice non-alcoholic drinks, which we really appreciated.
The cleaning staff were also excellent. They cleaned the hotel and rooms every day and were always very polite and hardworking.
In terms of the hotel itself, it felt more like a 3-star hotel than a 4-star, as some areas look a bit old and could use renovation. Our room walls were slightly dirty, so refreshing some rooms would definitely improve the overall experience.
Unfortunately, the pool was closed during our stay, so we couldn’t swim and I cannot comment on the pool facilities.
The food in the restaurant was tasty, but the breakfast was quite similar every day. It would be nice if the hotel added more variety, especially more savory options, since not everyone prefers sweet food in the morning. Also, different meats were sometimes cooked in the same area. It might be better to separate them—for example, placing red meat on one station and chicken or fish on another, since not everyone eats every type of meat.
The hotel also organized singing sessions and entertainment, which we discovered by chance and really enjoyed. It would be even better if guests were informed about these activities in advance.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a budget-friendly stay. The sea view is beautiful, and despite a few small issues, we still enjoyed our time here.

Just returned from a lovely week away. The restaurant managers Sanjeev & Fernando are fantastic and both so kind hearted. They catered to my allergens and took their time to make sure me and my family were comfortable.
Amazing reception team who were always happy to help with anything. Toni and the mini club team were fantastic with kids and the overall entertainment. The lifeguard was also lovely and friendly as well as the cleaners.
Our only issue was the location as no shops nearby however there is a bus stop outside the hotel and also the option of getting taxis (this can be costly). I would absolutely recommend this hotel and the kids did not want to leave! Thank you to all the staff for a lovely stay - we will be back

Set in well manicured grounds, this hotel is ideally located between the picturesque pueblo of Mijas and the very touristy Fuengirola. The facilities include a swimming pool, gym, sauna, Spa so easily qualifying for the Spanish 4 stars. The rooms are sizable, well appointed with views over the pool or the countryside. There is a spacious restaurant on site with a buffet style service for all meals. The choice though could be better. No specific vegetarian choice. Especially as non-vegetarians also eat vegetarian food. The reason for giving a reduced score for service was due to at breakfast the staff immediately switched off all the heating and drink machines at 10.30 (end of breakfast service) without asking if everyone had finished. It would take a few seconds but improve the guest experience. Also when booking in and out none of the staff asked if we needed help with our luggage. I had to use and maneovre the luggage trolley into a lift etc. Luckily when leaving a fellow guest helped with our luggage - none of the staff. Otherwise the staff were friendly and professional.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The swimming pool is excellent, clean, well-maintained, and one of the best parts of the hotel.
The rooms are quite old and could use renovation, but they are clean and reasonably well maintained.
The food is tasty, but it is quite expensive since meals are charged separately, which makes the overall stay more costly.
The only thing that really disappointed us was the service in the restaurant. The head waitress/restaurant manager was not friendly and often came across as rude and unfriendly, which affected our overall experience.
With some improvements to the rooms and customer service, this hotel could be much better.

Just got home from a lovely stay at the Illunion Hotel. We were a bit worried before we arrived after reading some bad reviews, but we can honestly say we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfy, the showers were great, and the views were lovely. It’s a little way out from the main hustle and bustle, but we actually liked how peaceful it was. There are bus stops right outside, and for just €1.60 on the bus, it was easy to get to Mijas or Fuengirola.
The pool area and gym were clean, and the pool towels were nice thick ones, not the thin cheap towels you often get. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the guy who checked us in on the night shift.
The only downsides for us were the pool only being open from 11am–5pm, and there wasn’t a shop on site, just drinks available from the bar.
Overall, we’d definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again

We’ve had a really good stay here for a few days, a car is probably a must so you can visit Mijas and nearby small towns or beaches. It’s a calm and really nice area, the pool was perfect as well as the buffet breakfasts and dinners.
However we were really surprised that not even a glass of water was included in buffet dinner, they charged us for every drink!

Came here in July on my own through a package holiday for a week. Excellent location. 10 mins max to the centre of Mijas. Came here half board. Breakfast was great. Dinner not the best but always found something to eat. Excellent staff especially the waiting staff. I was always seated by the window. Drinks reasonably priced. The outside area if you could get a seat was great. Room very clean. Would recommend paying extra for a full balcony as the Juliet balcony only fitted a chair. Plenty of sunbeds. Staff work very hard. Would highly recommend.

4/2026 Just back from a week in the sun, and enjoyable stay at the TRH. Built on the hillside just off-centre of the charming little town. Hotel is spacious with many lounge areas with comfortable seating and calmness. Staff are ALL very happy and hard working especially in the restaurant where the catering is consistent with a good 4-star hotel, featuring various appetising and changing dishes. Pool and terrace areas are spacious and have plenty of loungers and chairs, with numerous choices between peaceful areas and those with a gentle hubbub. Bar prices are reasonable. At least four elevators in the main wing. Rooms have excellent sound insulation, and those facing the coast are supremely peaceful - just birdsong. Genuinely 10minute stroll mostly on the level, to reach the town centre and host of quirky restaurants, and panoramic viewpoints to the coast. The town had no litter, peeling paint, or brash chain 'restaurants' or the usual coffee 'names'.
Our experience was that this hotel is well run, well designed, calm and comfortable but the staff are the stars of the show. We wouldn't hesitate to return, if in the area.

During my visit to this hotel, I had some observations from my previous stay. It seems the management has addressed the cleanliness issue, as I found the hotel to be very clean. The breakfast was also good, and the hotel's location is excellent. Our room was on the third floor, and the view from the balcony was wonderful. Please note that tea or coffee is not available in the room as the hotel charges for this . Regarding parking, unfortunately, the hotel charges five euros per day. I think this price is a bit excessive. It would be preferable if the price were one euro per day for hotel guests, as it's unreasonable to pay five euros per day for a two-week stay. I hope the hotel management will consider this request. I highly recommend staying at this hotel due to its location and the excellent service provided by the staff.

We stayed for 8 days. Lovely clean hotel. Staff were very helpful. Plenty of loungers by clean pool. Dated but with grandier, not scruffy. Quiet, not loads of teenagers, kids or loud music etc. Walkable to loads of shops, restaurants & bars in Mijas.

Our third stay at this beautiful hotel and it just keeps getting better.
Every member of staff did their upmost to ensure we had a holiday to remember. We cannot praise them highly enough.
We are already planning our next visit . Just can't get enough of this hotel set in a stunning hillside location.
