Loved my stay here! The single room had everything I needed. It was clean and comfortable, nothing overly luxurious, but it had all the essentials. A big plus was having no bugs in the room, which is already a great feature in Tenerife!
The buffet breakfast was standard and perfectly fine, although I only had it twice as I preferred having breakfast at Flashpoint. Other than that, I had no issues. A lovely bonus is the complimentary drink at Hito (a must-visit) included with your stay.
The swimming pool area is great. The only downside is that wind-blown sand from the beach can end up around the pool, which is a bit annoying, but that’s just nature doing its thing.
The staff were wonderful, especially Susanna, who gave me great advice and was genuinely one of the highlights of my holiday. I would definitely choose this hotel again when I return to Tenerife. This trip was all about relaxing, but next time I’d love to come back and try a surfing lesson!

Cosy, yet modern hotel in the heart of El Médano.
A big thank you to Helena, who was always so caring and welcomed me with a smile.
I spent 3 days at the hotel and had such a lovely experience. The pool was a wonderful surprise, filled with sea water and perfect for relaxing. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of fresh options, and the bedroom was very comfortable, clean, and peaceful.
The location is also amazing — close to the beach, restaurants, and the charming atmosphere of El Médano. I would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is a wonderful place to stay. From the moment I arrived, I felt comfortable and welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful, which makes it easy to unwind and really enjoy your time there.
One of the highlights for me was definitely the breakfast. It was something I genuinely looked forward to every morning and a perfect way to start the day. I also really appreciated the laid-back vibe throughout the whole place — everything felt easy, pleasant, and unpretentious.
Another big plus is the location, especially if you enjoy surfing or watersports. Having the surf stations right next door is incredibly convenient and adds so much to the overall experience.
Overall, I had a fantastic stay and would happily come back. Great atmosphere, excellent breakfast, and an ideal location — what more could you ask for?

Very good option in el médano.
Top location at the beach (in connection with windsurf rentals), very clean rooms which are pretty tiny, good cleaning, very friendly and smiling cleaning staff, good breakfast with some options changing daily, free parking for hotel residents (2 areas). compact balconies with glass railing (I recommend the superior room with sea view). quiet rooms, no A/C but a large completely silent propeller on the roof with good adjustments with remote control. Storage space available for widsurf/bicycle etc. gears.
Reception staff passive.
Warm recommendation to everyone.

I went surfing in El Médano with my son in June. We booked Playa Surf and have to say we were absolutely delighted. Great facilities, excellent service, the windiest sliding door in the world and much more. I’d even give it 6 stars!

After a flight cancellation, we stayed here. The rooms were very nice and new with a great view. The theme throughout the hotel is very nicely done and staff was extremely friendly, offering champagne upon arrival and giving a great recommendation for dinner in town.
Breakfast was also great but took a while and the amounts were on the smaller side. Overall a good experience.

Staff a very friendly and helpful. My 4nights stay was very relaxing. Clean and newly refurbished. the food was delicious. Closest hotel right by the sea.

Me & my husband had a lovely 3 night stay here, staff were so friendly especially front desk, shops and restaurants across the road and the pool/sun lounge area was perfect.
We only had breakfast at the hotel but it was lovely, lots on offer and never seemed too busy so no waiting for any special orders that where cooked fresh in front of you.
I was a little disappointed as I had paid for an upgraded room but don’t feel I got that, although the room was still very big & nice so didn’t bother saying anything to reception.
I wouldn’t say it’s a hotel I’d take my children too but for a couple who just want to escape from everyday crazy life it was perfect 😍 thank you

Honest review, I liked it here, thought the hotel was great needs a little updating here and there, but what hotel doesn't. The location is great especially for golfers (I'm not) just wanted a few days of sun and peace which we got from here. Close to airport, bus transfer really quick and easy. Straight to the door. Breakfast had everything u could wish for, really nice. We used the spa which was really good too and a fair price.

For a 4 star hotel, it definitely fails for me. I've been in other 4 star hotels which almost felt 5 star, whereas this felt more like a 3 star. Let me cover the positives - the entrance to the hotel is open and airy with a view of the pool beyond. There's someone at the reception to greet and get you settled in. The dining area is large and there is outdoor seating too, although we never sat there as it was cold in the morning. Food options for breakfast and dinner are decent enough. The hotel was clean and there was parking available close to the hotel most days. Now the not so good - somehow we found ourselves in the middle of a strike which meant that during our 4 day stay, the room was not cleaned for 2 days because of lack of staff. So not so great, but our towels were changed. Next the room - it was really bland, not even a cushion to lift it up. Very very basic. The kettle's lead was so short that we had to put it on the ground so it could reach the socket. We did have a sea view, but the sliding doors would not close fully so we had a very loud hissing noise of the sea. Someone came in to have a look but said this is a problem in most of the rooms. What?! right? So we found a way that reduced the hissing by opening the sliding doors a little more. Which brings me to the final point - there was a hotel opposite ours which played really loud music all through the day and night (until 11pm) which we could hear in our rooms. I guess if you're up late it's fine, but we usually were trying to sleep by that time, and it was just really annoying. So either you have the hissing sound or the music from the hotel - can't say which is worse. I wouldn't stay in this hotel again for all the reasons above. In terms of location, it's not close to the popular beaches, but still there is a buzz in the evenings. There's a supermarket opposite the hotel which is great to get water etc..(tap water is not suitable for drinking). When the room was not cleaned for the 2nd day in a row, we went to have a word with them..which is probably why they removed the 2 glasses of wine that we had during our stay from the invoice.

We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!
The staff were incredibly friendly and always happy to help. The food was fresh, varied, and delicious. We especially enjoyed that two of the dishes were cooked fresh right in front of you. The only small improvement I would suggest is to add a bit more variety to the breakfast menu, as it was the same every day.
The hotel was very clean, the rooms were spacious, and the location was excellent. It was easy to get around thanks to the nearby bus connections, and it was only about 10–15 minutes from the airport.
The only issue we had was at check-in. We were initially given a room where the bathroom was downstairs and the bed was upstairs, connected by a staircase. Normally this wouldn’t have been a problem, but I’m pregnant and having to use the bathroom several times a night made the stairs inconvenient and potentially unsafe. Thankfully, the staff were incredibly understanding and did everything they could to find us another room, which they did. We really appreciated their kindness and willingness to help.
My advice to anyone who is pregnant or has mobility issues is to mention it before arriving, as we didn’t know these split-level rooms existed.
Overall, I would happily give this hotel 5 out of 5 stars and would definitely recommend it to others!

I had a great experience there. There is nothing that I can say could be (much) better.
I rarely say this, but this was wonderful!
Good room service, lovely staff, reasonable prices, good entertainment.
It's a very family friendly hotel with lots of kids around.
The location is a bit far from main touristic areas, but at the same time with a (rental) car you can have great mobility.
I would particularly suggest it for families. If your a bunch of friends/couples, it depends on ehat sort of activities you fancy.
To sum up, the hotel made a great holiday for us.

Another great holiday at this hotel. Many of the staff remember us when we return and we had a lovely letter and bottle of cava from the management for being returning customers. The animation team were fantastic as usual and they provided great entertainment along with the artists they booked for evenings. Another bonus was the TV set up in the large bar area for world cup viewing with all the national flags hung up, a lovely touch. The various restaurants always have something to suit different tastes. Cleanliness throughout the hotel is excellent. Thanks to all the staff for a great holiday.

Arrived 7/6/2026, lovely hotel, great staff, rooms are very spacious and clean. My wife has mobility and dietary needs and the hotel staff have been exceptionally helpful.
I saw some reviews about the food and was a little edgy based on the feedback, to date it has been very good, plenty of choice and there is good range of options. Definitely considering coming back
End of week 1, things have gone from strength to strength, the Asian, Spanish and Mexican themed nights were excellent.
Carolina is particularly helpful. She is the embodiment of the helpfulness of the staff. She is excellent on aligergin advice and checking, she made my wife's holiday very comfortable.
Two weeks have flown and we have had a great holiday, we are considering booking again next year 😄

We stayed here for 7 nights and overall had a great holiday. Check-in was quick and friendly, everything was explained clearly and our room was clean, modern and well looked after.
The biggest disappointment was the housekeeping over the first weekend. Our towels were not changed at all – they simply hung our used towels back up, even one that had been left on the bathroom floor. I only noticed because one towel still had my mascara on it. Thankfully, from Monday onwards everything changed. The room was cleaned properly every day, coffee was restocked, cups were washed and fresh towels were provided.
We also had an extra bed for our 9-year-old son, but no blanket was provided for him until Monday, so we had to give him ours for the first two nights.
The biggest issue was the sunbeds. Guests reserved them very early in the morning and many stayed empty for hours. The hotel tried to stop this by placing warning notices on unattended sunbeds, but nothing was ever removed, so some guests had no sunbeds while others had several reserved all morning.
The food was absolutely amazing. Every meal was delicious and there was a huge variety every day. Honestly, this was the best part of our stay... we all came home about 3 kg heavier! 😄
The only other downside was that the all-inclusive bar closed at 10 pm, after which all drinks had to be paid for. There was also very little evening entertainment or music, so the hotel felt quite quiet at night.
Despite a few issues, we really enjoyed our holiday and would happily return if the housekeeping and sunbed situation were improved.

Overall a positive experience but was it 5 star, no I don’t think it was.
Food and drink was good, fresh and plenty of choice but no al a carte option throughout the stay which I’ve had previously in 4 star hotels and would have expected this a minimum at the Barcelo Tenerife. Service and team were great although housekeeping could have been better and very little evidence of cleaning during our 10 day stay other than beds being made and towels folded.
Air con was really poor and room always felt damp.
Paid extra for a view in mine and my husband’s room but not in the room we booked for our son and he had a much better room and view ! How does that happen !
Room towels were awful, off white and poor quality and no ‘luxury’ feel. Using them was not a great experience.
Generally the rooms were okay, beds very soft but that’s a personal choice. Shower room tired and in need of attention to bring it back up to a 5 star.
Although many signs saying sun-bed reservation not allowed these were generally ignored and for our whole stay we never managed to get a bed by the main pool area as many held with towels and no one from the hotel removed these.
The hotel was quiet and always plenty of tables at dinner and never felt rushed or crowed. More tables needed around the Breeze and Go area in the evening as not everyone wants to watch the entertainment and this was a nice area to sit in and chat and play cards.
Toilets in the pool and outside bar areas need a more regular clean and check over and by the evening paper towels everywhere and bins over flowing.
Would I stay again … possibly if the price was reduced but it’s a 4 star hotel pretending to be a 5 star and some things need improvement to get to the 5 star experience. Over inflated price for the whole experience and don’t feel for our 6.5k we got value for money.
Alastair Scott
Overall we had a great trip and lovely holiday at the Barcelo. The resort itself is stunning, there was plenty sun loungers and good beach towels provided, we didn’t feel the morning rush to get the sun loungers which made it more relaxed. The bars and drinks were really nice and the hotel is in a lovely quieter area with lovely coastal walks. There is a really good range of activities during the day supplied by the hotel. If this was a 4 star hotel it’d be everything you expect. However, they market themselves as 5 star and they charge 5 star all inclusive prices. Sadly for us this doesn’t match the 5 star price tag. Just some minor changes can really elevate this hotel which you see time and time again reading the reviews here in which I can say they are not acting upon. We would note the following;
The food at the buffet is good for all inclusive buffet but for the 5 star price tag I would expect some Al a carte restaurants included in this.
The cocktails and drinks are really nice here but it’s disappointing that the all inclusive package does not include drinks like espresso martinis, pornstar martinis etc included. Instead they cost extra unless you’ve paid the over inflamed price tag of royal level (it’s a rip off price tag) it’s again disappointing to see when you’ve already paid the 5 star hotel price tag.
No mini bar drinks provided in the rooms as part of the all inclusive package - again this was an over inflated price tag. Again not something you expect with 5 star
Even small things like a welcome drink on arrival is not supplied.
The biggest disappointment though which leaves a real sour note on checking out is they will cut your wrist band at 12:00 and ask you to pay extra if you want any hotel drink or food even if you ask in advance that your flight is later. This for us is one of the biggest dissapointment and not something we have ever experienced before in other 5 star all inclusive hotels.
We had a great holiday and would love to return for next year but we will be reading reviews to see if there has been any changes as this is not the first of these issues being raised by many others.
Lee Burgess
Its just too big for our liking. It was taking us 15 minutes to get from our room to the restaurant. Sun lounger situation was not ideal, there arent a lot by the adult only areas, and I dont find it relaxing by the family pool its just noisy. The food was excellent, the drinks too. Theres not a lot around the hotel to be honest, so options were limited. Its pretty much under the flight path for the airport so there are planes coming in to land all the time. Rooms were okay, air con kept breaking down. Its close to the airport so transfers are quick.
Janine Newton
Lovely hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Lorraine the chef who did the ‘origins’ breakfasts was great and explained all the authentic dishes well. It was lovely to have an option different to the eggs and bacon etc.
the hotel is in a quiet area which I enjoyed. There are lots of walks nearby and a bus that stops right outside the hotel. There are a lot of families but also an adults only pool which is quieter. I was out most days but many people seemed to enjoy the hotel enough to stay every day. The room was wonderful with a wraparound balcony. Would stay again!

My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights in May 2026, on a half board basis. It was our second time at this hotel and we are very pleased we came back.
Room: could not fault it. We were on the fourth floor and had a pleasant view over the many pools at the hotel. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of space to store our belongings.
Service: all staff from reception to the buffet were friendly and helpful. We made use of the Courtesy Lounge on our final day which was a big positive as our airport transfer departed at around 3pm.
Location: for us, the hotel is in a perfect spot. It's 15 minutes from the airport with easy walking access to Los Abrigos and Golf del Sur. We got the bus to El Medano on one day which is a nice little town with some good spots to chill out at the beach.
If I had to give one small bit of feedback - it would be nice if half board customers could have water with dinner at no extra cost. I obviously don't mind buying soft drinks but €3.50 for a bottle of still water with your evening meal feels a little cheeky.
But overall, we had an amazing holiday here and hope to be back at some point in the future. Gracias Barceló!

We have had an amazing stay at Barceló Tenerife Royal Level. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding, with all staff being friendly, welcoming and always willing to help. The Royal Level experience made our holiday feel extra special, with exclusive areas that were peaceful, relaxing and never overcrowded.
The rooms were spacious, modern and impeccably clean, with housekeeping maintaining a very high standard throughout our stay. The food was excellent, offering plenty of variety at every meal, and the à la carte menus were a real highlight, providing delicious, high-quality dishes and a fantastic dining experience.
One of our favourite aspects of the Royal Level was the pool area. The Bali beds and thick, comfortable sun lounger mattresses made relaxing by the pool an absolute dream and added an extra touch of luxury to our stay.
The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning grounds, fantastic pools and a lovely atmosphere throughout. We couldn’t fault our experience and would highly recommend the Royal Level to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing holiday in Tenerife. We will definitely be returning!

Second Visit to the hotel, overall a good pleasant stay.
The RL reception team was able To accommodate a room change for us which was very helpful.
Breakfast team are great, even when they run out of the amazing cookies they still managed to find us some and hand deliver to us around the pool.
RL pool is a lovely touch and worth the extra money. The bar staff and waiters the past week have been superb and gave us their full attention, never left without some sort of hydration ..... More than often a daiquiri or mojito !
The Weather has been hit and miss but they put on a candle making session which myself and my partner very much enjoyed !
Overall a great experience and once again we will look to come back next year.
See you again soon !

Here’s the updated version with those special restaurant mentions woven in naturally:
This is now our 29th visit to Barceló Tenerife, and that alone says everything about how special this hotel is to us. Over the years it has become far more than just a holiday destination — it feels like a second home for our family.
My husband and I first started coming here years ago, and now I have the joy of bringing my daughter too, creating new memories together in a place we truly love. There is something so unique about this hotel that allows us to completely switch off from everyday life and fully relax, with our only real concern being what to enjoy for breakfast or dinner each day!
The atmosphere is peaceful, beautiful, and incredibly safe, which makes it the perfect place to unwind. The Royal Level experience is exceptional, especially the pool and bar area, where everything feels calm, luxurious, and perfectly designed for relaxation.
The food is another huge reason we continue to return year after year. Every restaurant is fantastic, and we have had delicious meals throughout the hotel — from the wonderful Italian food at La Dolce Vita to the lovely dining experience in the Royal Level restaurant.
Arrozante deserves a very special mention though. The specialty rice dishes are outstanding, and the Adrien Bosch Michelin-star menu currently offered on Saturdays was one of the most incredible dining experiences we have ever had. Every course was beautifully presented, creative, and absolutely delicious — a truly unforgettable evening.
What makes Barceló Tenerife so remarkable is the consistency. After 29 visits, the standards, service, warmth, and attention to detail remain exceptional. It is rare to find a place that continues to feel this special after so many years, but Barceló Tenerife always does.
Thank you to the entire team for giving our family so many wonderful memories over the years. We already cannot wait for visit number 30.
Rossi
I don’t give 5 stars as the overall experience is very important to me from the moment of arrival, and unfortunately, this stay did not meet my expectations. I had booked the Royal Level experience, but upon arrival, there was no staff available to assist VIP guests at the dedicated desk. I ended up checking in at the regular desk like all other guests. This was one of the main reasons I chose this experience, but it was clearly not provided. Not even a glass of water was offered, and I had to handle all my luggage myself.
I stayed in a master suite, and for a 5-star hotel, the room maintenance could be improved. The taps required descaling, as black particles came from the bath faucet every time I tried to run it. Also big amount of small flies/insects inside bedrooms and seems there is a commun issue with the bedrooms.
This was reported to reception and housekeeping. While they cleaned it, the issue persisted, suggesting proper descaling had not been done.
The food in royal level restaurante was delicious, and every member of staff were marvelous.
The pool by the royal level is not that warm, there is a construction next to the hotel and when is windy all the dust flies to the royal level area.
Housekeeping team maintained the bedroom cleaned every day.
However, bedroom towels, robes, and pool towels need replacing, as many looked aged, ripped, or stained.
Very Closer to the airport.

We are currently staying at the beautiful Barceló Tenerife and I honestly cannot praise the staff enough. From the moment we arrived, we have been made to feel genuinely welcomed and cared for.
A very special thank you to Victoria, the Head of Guest Relations, who has gone above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Her kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail have been exceptional throughout and made such a difference to our experience.
We would also love to specially mention Kenny, the Royal Level barman, who has been fantastic — always friendly, welcoming, and making every visit feel special. Thank you as well to Jhon, who has been incredibly attentive throughout our stay, regularly checking on us around the pool and bringing drinks and snacks with such warmth and care.
A huge thank you also to Jonathan in the Royal Level restaurant, who has looked after us so wonderfully during our meals and always made us feel so welcome. And finally, thank you to Diago, the Barceló Tenerife manager, whose team clearly reflects excellent leadership and genuine care for guests.
The restaurants have been absolutely wonderful, the atmosphere throughout the hotel is lovely, and every member of staff we’ve encountered has been warm, attentive, and eager to help.
The level of hospitality here feels truly personal and sincere, and it’s made for such a relaxing and memorable stay for both my mum and I.
Thank you for making our trip so special — we would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and genuinely caring experience.
Things to do in Golf del Sur
Play a round of golf: the famous Golf del Sur golf course is made of three 9-hole courses, and is an absolute delight to have a few rounds on. Venture down the road to the region’s second course - Amarilla - and enjoy views of the marina as your play.
Haggle at the marketplace: there’s a large market by the marina on Friday mornings, where you can buy a variety of handmade goods including leathers and jewellery.
Eat a delicious dinner overlooking the water: most of the restaurants in Golf del Sur are in the San Blas commercial centre, so here you can tuck into a delicious dish whilst overlooking the seafront. Bon Appetit!
