Calpe
Calpe holidays conjure up thoughts of an old romantic village, basking in wonderful sunshine and offering glorious beaches. With a history of fishing and a charming ancient appeal, Calpe now proves to be the highlight of the Costa Blanca region. Situated between Javea and Altea, you will find the gorgeous beach, a beautiful fishing harbour and stunning yacht marina all enticing you to come over and enjoy. Being the town serving areas as far as Moraira and as near as Teulada, you will find ample facilities, age old architecture and fantastic scenery all of which help to make Calpe holidays so popular.
Boasting the mildest weather in the Costa Blanca, Calpe can provide sultry sun and high temperatures in peak season due to its sheltering mountains from the stronger north winds. Calpe holidays are very much a laid back affair, an ideal setting for families and couples after that well deserved break, rest and recuperation. Days spent on the beach, morning spent touring the sights and evenings spent over candle light dinners are just part of the continuing appeal. Calpe holidays give visitors a real taste of Spain and all its charm.

The food was very good, always diversified something to everyone's taste. The chefs do their job very well, especially Mrs. Maria, who was always attentive to the buffet and very friendly.I can't say the same about the rooms. They need major rooms improvements. When I booked the pictures looked different from what I found in the room, and I don't mean cleaning, but furniture. I give it 4 stars just because the food was exceptional and the staff friendly.

We spent a fantastic week at the Esmeralda Hotel. Everything was just right from the tasty food and clean cafeteria to the friendly and professional reception staff. A special thank you to Juljan, the pool lifeguard, who made me and my family feel truly welcomed. Despite most guests speaking Spanish, he was the only one who spoke to us in English, and his kindness and hospitality stood out. He made a real difference in our stay

Great location, steps away from the promenade and all amenities. We had a very quiet bedroom with sea views! The room was very spacious and clean but really outdated. We had half board and the food was ok, Saturday evening better than Friday with some seafood, breakfast fine also.
The reception staff was very helpful and friendly. We received a call a couple of hours after checking in to ask if everything was ok!!!
For me the nicest part of the stay was a therapeutic massage by Nancy! The only negative part was that it only lasted 30 min (as there was no availability for an hour massage). As a past physiotherapist and esthetician I know a good massage! I needed a deep tissue and I have to say it was one of the best massages I have had! Highly recommend Nancy.

Lovely clean hotel,friendly staff.
Good food ,
Nice big spacious rooms and balcony .albeit a bit dated, but this is being addressed at the end of the year .
Nice pool ,good entertainment for all the family during the day by the pool and in the evening with shows at the sister hotel across the road.
Very good location for the beach, lots of restaurants if you don’t want to eat in the hotel. Beautiful views of the mountains and sea, a disabled accessible beach as well.

Spent a very enjoyable 2 weeks at Hotel Esmeralda, made even more special because of the Pool Life Guard. He was so attentive to his duties and talking to everyone. The children seemed to like him very much. He was so kind to my family, helping my son who is blind and to myself as I have mobility issues. It was a pleasure to have met him, so thank you Julian and to the Staff of Esmeralda.

Used the SPA services only. Not staying in the hotel. It was renovated and looks clean.
Marina, my specialist was very attentive and asked about the pressure, my state all the time. I like therapeutic massage and it was really good.
SPA circuit includes medium pool with steam jets, set of showers, sauna and Hammam.
Sauna is small and was a bit crowded, but the pool and steam baths are nice.

I always enjoy the activities given by Eugenia. She is so sweet and nice! She always do her best for everyone. The yoga classes, dance classes, pilates, karaoke, bingo, Darts, biljart, etc. She is the best animator!! Highly recommend to participatie in anything she organizes 😀🧡

The location and building were absolutely beautiful, it was a less than 5 minute walk to get to the nearby beach and boardwalk strip. The food was absolutely incredible, and the service even better! The staff were kind and knowledgeable, their hospitality was top notch!
There were lots of things to do both in and around the hotel, and they took fantastic care of our group. Everything was well organized and maintained, I don’t think we could have found anything better!

A wonderful hotel with great service. The room was large and clean, and I was given one with a sea view. Great breakfast and spa. They also allowed a late check-out with no questions asked. Well done — highly recommended.

Loved the hotel. Rooms are very clean, very well appointed and well serviced. Food in the buffet was excellent every night - meat and fish choices with hot vegetables changed each day, always a fabulous fresh salad bar. Staff attentive and helpful - Christina and Leo were brilliant 🤩. The Spa was also good and well worth the money - excellent massage. Thank you an excellent stay 😍. Outside pools not in use (it was January 🤣) but looked good, very short walk to the beach and promenade where many restaurants and shops. I will come back .

Wow! What a gem of a 4* hotel!! Loved it from the minute we checked in, arrived mid morning from an early flight, room wasn’t ready, gave us a voucher for the first drink on the hotel - nice touch! We were half board.
The room, stunning, two double beds, fridge, kettle and tea/coffee in room. Safe - free to use. Clean bright bathroom, lush free toiletries and fresh towels every day.
Good quality pool towels for a cash refundable deposit - and changed fresh every day with no charge.
Ray on reception was most helpful with our questions and queries and sorted us out with a breakfast to go bag as our departure is due before breakfast opens.
Our first visit to the hotel, but won’t be our last. And if we do return I would do AI, as what they offered was amazing.
Thanks for a great stay - thought we haven’t actually left let. Room 1002.
Big shout out to ALL restaurant staff who were all so friendly and polite. And thanks to the lovely reception staff.

Just got back from here and we had a great time. Hotel was clean and facilities were good. Im a vegetarian and they done veggie options like veggie chilli, good selection. Family friendly and quiet. No stupidness with subbed hogging, ppl were respectful. Big thank you to jeorge from the Animation team as he saw me having a mini panic when we walked quite high up the mountain walk and he took me u see his wing and helped me all the way :-)

A lovely hotel. Comfortable beds, each 4ft wide per person. Rooms cleaned very well every day. Food very good quality. Indoor pool lovely and warm. Decent gym. Outside pool not heated. Very good location near to the beach and flamingo lake.

We had a nice week here. Great service from the staff. Outdoor pool was to cold for us but there was a heated inside pool we could enjoy. Lots of sunbeds outside. Good buffet restaurant, with plenty to choose from. Room was big and the view nice. Location was perfec for us, close to a small harbour, two beaches with long boardwalk. 3 busses close by, so you could either walk about 2km to old town or take the bus. If we come back to Calp, we would not mind staying here again.

Quite a stylish hotel. Each room has a balcony, and the rooms are spacious. The breakfast was very good. We considered having dinner there, but after checking the menu, we decided to go outside instead. Most likely, we would have eaten very well at the hotel too — there was a selection of meat, probably fish as well, and overall it was a classic hotel dinner offering.
We stayed only one night, so it’s hard to say what kind of guests usually stay there, but everyone seemed to be rushing and queuing both for breakfast and dinner. We went about an hour before closing — the food was still being replenished, and everything was excellent.
We also visited the indoor pool — no one asked for a swimming cap. However, there is no proper place to change or store clothes, so we kept our belongings on a bench by the pool.

We had the best stay at Sol y Mar. We were originally booked to stay for 5 nights and planned to travel further along the coast. We enjoyed the facilities and the location so much, that we extended our stay at the hotel for the full duration of our trip. The staff are so friendly, Danielle at reception made us feel so welcome and definitely made our stay extra special. The hotel is spotlessly clean, we thank Luz for the great job she did on our rooms each day. We stayed in sea view rooms, which were just spectacular. The breakfast is amazing, there is something for everyone. We can’t recommend Sol y Mar enough. We hope to return again in September to this wonderful hotel.

Beautiful hotel, very chilled out vibes. The best hotel breakfast I have ever had. With floor to ceiling views of the sea, it was breathtaking.
Pool was spotless, staff were excellent. Very highly recommend. Calpe was Beautiful as a whole, but the gran hotel sol y Mar was the star of the show.

We’ve just returned from our third stay at Sol Y Mar. We have stayed once in the city view room and twice in the sea view rooms, they are most certainly worth it! The rooms are clean and comfortable we really can’t fault the sea view rooms, we could just sit on the terrace all day looking at the view! The breakfast is exceptional, so much choice and all good quality food, we particularly enjoyed the omelette station and the fresh orange juice. The facilities are great, with good hotel gym (it’s spacious and has a bench press, dumbbells, some strength machines, a cable and cardio machines as well) with a supermarket below the hotel, and the spa circuit was enjoyable. The pool area I would imagine is very busy in summer but you are right on the beach! All the staff are friendly and helpful, and the location is great within Calpe, plenty of excellent restaurants, bars and cafes nearby, a short walk to the old town up the hill and a gorgeous promenade to walk along, you can walk to and hike up the Peñon de Ifach, for amazing views of Calpe. Perhaps the only thing is (not fault of the hotel) the guests are mostly an older generation, it is an adult only hotel to be fair, it didn’t matter to us. I would highly recommend, you really can’t go wrong with this hotel!
Zorana Ojdanić
My husband and I enjoyed our stay here! The rooms were clean and you receive a water bottle that can be refilled anytime in the halls. Food and drinks for breakfast are very diverse and they offer a discount in their supermarket for the hotel guests. They also offer a lot of free organized activities during the day. Beach is right next to the pool which is a huge plus and they have one more pool with an amazing view. We came to the hotel after midninght and they offered us sandwiches since it was late and welcome drinks. Coctails are also high quality. We also used a gym. High recommendations - his hotel exceeded our expectations!

We had an amazing 4 night stay at Hotel Sol y Mar. From arrival 'til departure.
Our recommandations:
- Pay extra for a room with sea view, it's worth it.
- Get breakfast included. A very extensive and delicious buffet, and very welcoming staff. We were able to start every morning with great comfort.
- The spa is wonderful, the gym is well equipped and it's the perfect location to go for a run in the morning or stroll along the beach.
- The hotel offers a wide range of free events, like concerts in the lobby, gin tasting or activities outside.

Our trip was amazing! The location of this place is beautiful and peaceful with also some shops along the beach.
We didn't have many issues with our stay at all, the staff were lovely, offering us peanuts, sweets and crisps to go along with our drinks and when we were checking out the man at reception asked us if we would like some water for our journey home.
Our main issue was the buffet, often the food in the buffet was cold and at dinner time as a vegetarian my options were limited. I had another family member staying with me and they came across raw fish a couple of times.
The breakfast buffet was a bit better, there was lots of options however the roasted tomatos were still cold most of the time.
The room facilities were amazing, we were given many free things with our room such as robes, shower caps, foot cream, pillow spray and our fridge was stocked up with water and pineapple juice. We decided to upgrade and use the kitchen facilities and this definitely came in handy. We were about €15 a day for the facilities and it was definitely worth it as we were able to keep all of our drinks cold on warm days and we also got access to the freezer where we were able to store ice.
The room service was great, our room got mopped everyday and we also got new towels every day.
Overall we would definitely stay here again, our stay was amazing and very relaxing!

Just two words: Perfect Holliday.
Big and clean room with a beautyfull view. Nice suprise basket for the baby with showergel and shampoo. Very good location. Near the beach and centre. Breakfast was delicious. Great variety, good fresh baked eggs whatever you want.
Warmed pool, baby liked it. With towel service and a poolbar with delicious cocktails.
Very friendly staff.
We recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to visit Calp. Especcialy with kids.
I bought the octopus as a remember of our baby’s first holiday in a superiour hotel!

We returned again to our favourite hotel in Calpe, It is our 6th time. They had installed chrome cast this time, however our device didnt connect and the technicians couldn't fix it. So again no dutch tv channels. The standard channels were mainly English, German and Spanish. So let down for a luxury hotel and easy to fix I guess. Especially when there are also dutch tourists
We noticed the hotel was far busier then previous years and also way more English (70% ). Maybe due to jet2holidays which has taken up the hotel in their programm? A bit different clientele from the previous years.
Also the coffeecups are still not for sale at the supermarket. And this new illy machine is also a let down. Why not keep the nespresso machine?
There was hardly any adult entertainment in the evening apart from a dj at the skybar. But not singer/performer in the lobby.
Apart from this the housekeeping is excellent and the rooms and balcony and location is great.
I hope however that the above concerns will be sorted upon our next visit.

Stayed at this hotel many times, my favourite place. The hotel is spotless, staff are polite and always available to help. The breakfast is amazing, so much choice and I am very fussy. Stunning views from the balcony. Cannot fault the hotel and will be back again soon.

A wholly fantastic experience. Friendly and attentive staff. Fabulous rooms with great views and superbly cleaned on a daily basis to a high standard. Superb breakfast with a vast choice of items.
Popular Activities and attractions on holidays in Calpe
One of the most interesting landscape features has to be the 335m rock known as the Penon de Ifach. Almost like a protection point of the former fishing village this can be seen from miles around and taking the coastal road around this magnificent volcanic boulder offers fantastic views along the way. A tunnel has been channelled in the rock to allow you to witness the panoramic views from the top, look out for Ibiza on a clear day!
Calpe holidays offer excellent swimming and surfing facilities and many beach side cafes, restaurants and shops cater for water enthusiasts and sun lovers as they enjoy all what Calpe has to offer. Away from the beach though, you will still find plenty to be had. Two great churches definitely worth a visit have to be the Iglesia Antigua and Senora de las Nieves both offering fantastic displays of age old design and grandeur. Squares teeming with traditional restaurants offering authentic Spanish or typical western cuisine create that leisurely wind down to your day and with pubs offering the local beer it is easy to mingle with the locals and tourists alike. Calpe holidays are perfect for that relaxing Spanish break.
