We had a fantastic stay at the Barcelo Portinatx at the end of May, beginning of June. The season hadn’t fully started yet, but we still experienced perfect weather, and slightly cheaper sunbed and water sport hire. It’s a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. Great if you want to experience the more chilled side to Ibiza. Shops are a 10 minute stroll over the hill, where there is a stunning beach (S'Arenal Gran). The staff are friendly and helpful. We booked the holiday as a package through a holiday company, and the hotel didn’t have our reservation when we arrived. Thank you for the hotel staff for sorting this out for us. Particular thanks to the lady on the front desk who helped us book a car too. There is a beach right in front of the hotel, it’s not owned by the hotel (and this is apparently common in Ibiza) so you have to pay if you want to borrow a sunbed and an umbrella. You can also rent kayaks and other water sport equipment by the beach. We never had any issues with getting sunbeds by either of the pools. The food was great and the wait staff were lovely. There are good drinks included too if you go all inclusive. Overall we’d definitely recommend this hotel!

This hidden gem will have us coming to Ibiza every year! Scott and the rest of the front desk staff, house keeping and wait staff were so warm and welcoming, helping us with everything and anything we needed. The views are stunning the pools are beautiful and the food and drinks are delicious. There are two beaches walking distance from the hotel. One is right below the hotel, the other one is about a 5-10 minute walk and the water is crystal clear and stunning, you can also rent boats right there. There are a couple of supermarkets as well right there and some delicious restaurants. It’s nice and quiet and relaxing, and the views of the sunset are gorgeous! There are also paddles boards and kayaks and a few small hiking trails as well. We will one thousand percent be staying at this hotel every year! Thank you so much for such and incredibly wonderful and memorable stay, we will never forget it!

I was confused by the reviews for this place before I went, because they seemed to range from suspiciously completely fantastic to really poor. Had no I idea what I was going to get. Hoping to provide a balanced report here.
I stayed here with my wife for a week in early July. Despite me giving it four stars rather than five, it's honestly one of our best holidays in recent memory. We loved it. First thing - the hotel is super friendly. I often see this written in reviews, and as a quite reserved and shy person I often find the staff don't actually necessarily go out of their way to be friendly. Not so here, they're genuinely lovely and all put up with my attempts to speak Spanish with enormous patience.
The room - totally fine, really comfortable bed, good air con, probably not enough storage as some have said but didn't bother us particularly. We paid extra for a sea view room, and it's more of a side sea view that you can only see if you stand up on the balcony, but it was actually too hot for us to use the balcony as anything other than a drying space anyway - no shade at all. So not sure I'd pay extra again. We didn't have the bathroom flooding problem others have experienced. The lift was broken for most of the week, so might be a concern for people averse to climbing steps in the heat.
The food - we were on half board, breakfast was nice, pretty standard buffet stuff. For us, it was somewhere around 'really quite good for a buffet'. I've never found any buffet to be totally superb. But everything tasted nice, we didn't find the food cold, the waiting staff were lovely.
There's no show cooking like you'd find in some other hotels, but this is largely down to the size of the restaurant, which is probably a bit too small for the size of the hotel (as others have said). So it is a little bit claustrophobic in there. Someone said there are no views in one review - there's a whole row of tables that overlook the little beach, so not sure what that's about. We went to a restaurant called Rebrots on the other side of Portinatx on the last night and it was fantastic.
The pools - bit tired in places, probably need a refurb, but plenty of beds and parasols and some bali beds that you don't have to pay extra for and were actually available (veeeery rare). The top pool is very shallow, so a bit more like a bath! Heats up early. Pool bar great, didn't try the food, seemed a bit pricey but others told us it's really good. Found the music by the pool irritating and think it was AI generated, but at least it wasn't too loud and I haven't been to a hotel in ages where there isn't annoying music by the pool.
The area - we really liked Portinatx. The hotel is about a 9 minute walk to the main big beach and little shops, around 14 mins to the next smaller beach beyond that. We found the main beach a bit busy. There's a small beach right next to the hotel - 28 euros for two beds and a parasol courtesy of Carlos, the interesting man who has a beach bar/paddle board rental business there. We had a couple of afternoons there and really enjoyed them. Wouldn't bother with his cocktails though, the ones at the pool bar are better. You can get a bus down to Ibiza Town really easily (about 3 euros each, each way). There's a mini train that does a fun trip to nearby nice beach locations - we really enjoyed that. 20 euros each, totally worth it.
The hotel really could do with installing some filtered water stations throughout, especially as it's relatively far away from the nearest shop with big bottles of water. Most places we stay these days have water refill stations - reduces single use plastic.
So basically, we had a great time, really enjoyed the hotel - yes, there are things that could be improved, nothing that actually spoiled the experience. Who knows how much the Barcelo group want to invest in this particular hotel? In terms of improving things like the restaurant, they're limited by the footprint of the place, so not sure they really can. Anyway, I'd definitely recommend it overall. We'd go back for sure.

Just spent a week at this hotel and had a wonderful holiday. The room was large and well equipped. It was cleaned every day to a very high standard. The staff were very friendly and and efficient this hotel is lucky the staff are so good from the cleaners to the receptionists. The food is great with a good selection and the pool bar food is especially good which is unusual for hotels. I would recommend the all inclusive package as everything is included even a free paddle boarding experience. The sunbeds by the pool are always available and there is a good chilled out atmosphere at both pools. The only slight annoyance I had was that you had to sign on receipt of every drink and meal but I must emhasise that this is only a very slight gripe. The entertainment, which wasn't provided every night but often enough was of high quality. So if you want a chilled out, friendly, well run hotel I would definitely recommend the Barcelo Portinaxt.

This is an adults only hotel which offers a quiet peaceful setting at the end of Portinatx ideal for a relaxing stay. We had an apartment on the 4th floor and a large balcony with sun loungers, hot tub, deckchairs and a two person sun lounging bed with sun protection. The staff at the hotel from reception to bar to restaurant to cleaning are all magnificent, really friendly, and they work incredibly hard to make your stay a great one. There are two pools and a pool bar with more loungers, a fitness area and a beach across the road. There is a wellness menu although we only used the morning yoga, but that was excellent. Great walks are adjacent one which we did to the lighthouse offering great views. We would highly recommend the breakfast it was amazing, lots of choice. Overall a lovely hotel in a great position.
