We recently stayed at the San Anton Hotel in Malta and had a mixed experience.
The positives first: the hotel has a lovely swimming pool, which was well maintained and a great place to relax. The reception and hotel staff were all very friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was generally clean, although the housekeeping could have been a little more thorough in some areas. The hotel is also conveniently located close to supermarkets, restaurants, and other essential shops, making it easy to get around. We also enjoyed the view from our balcony overlooking the pool area, which was a nice bonus.
However, there were a few downsides that affected our stay. The breakfast options were very limited, with the main cooked choice being a Full English breakfast each day, so there wasn't much variety. Our double room became extremely hot during our stay, and unfortunately it did not have air conditioning, making it uncomfortable, especially at night.
Another issue was that the rooms opposite ours appeared to be occupied by migrant workers or long-term residents. While this isn't an issue in itself, it did detract from the overall holiday atmosphere of the hotel. At various times of the day, strong cooking smells, particularly onions and heavily spiced food, drifted into our room and balcony area, which wasn't very pleasant. We also had problems with cockroaches, which entered the balcony area and, on occasion, one or two even got inside the room.
Parking can also be challenging, particularly during busy periods, so it's worth keeping this in mind if you're hiring a car.
Overall, San Anton Hotel offers good value with friendly staff, a pleasant pool, and a convenient location. However, improvements to the breakfast selection, room cooling, and the overall guest environment would make for a much better experience.

The worst experience till now! 3 star hotel wanna be.... Cockroachas all over the place, mold, old bathrooms, sticky smelly rooms. Don't go there if you have children! It's just pretty shitty. In the evening the 20 somethings are very loud, at 4 am they scream on the hallway, as they come from the club, drunk and on drogs. As we complained at the front desk, they said they know about it, but they can not do anything.
The hair dryer was broken, the shower head loose and rusty. Mold all over!
If you want a good experience, please pay more for a better hotel.
The only positive thing is, the front desk personnel was nice.
Overall they know nothing about cleaning.

The rooms have cockroaches! The pool is not so clean.
The people working there are polite and the place is very convenient because it is close to supermarkets and the bus stops..

We paid over €50 for one night at this hotel because we had an issue with our original booking and had to find something quickly. Unfortunately, this place took advantage of that situation.
The room was dirty, and the bathroom was in a terrible condition. There were clear signs of mold in the shower area and on the ceiling, along with visible grime. On top of that, there was a strong, unpleasant smell that made the whole space feel extremely unhygienic.
The door to the room was incredibly thin, with a huge gap underneath. It provided no privacy, no sound insulation, and made us feel unsafe.
Overall, this was a very poor experience. Charging over €50 for a room in this condition is completely unreasonable. I strongly advise avoiding this place.

Great hotel. Budget friendly, the beds are super comfortable, the location is very lovely next to an amazing pub and close to a bus stop with many buses to Valetta and supermarkets which are open until very late. The people there are AMAZING. Especially the two lovely people at the reception which were very kind, smart, well-spoken and rays of sunshine all-together.
