Terribly dirty. Especially toilet and bathtub. Room had detergent smell but visually it was easy to spot cleanliness issues. Toilet was leaking. Neither of these issues were addressed when we raised the concerns. I met with two other families and I heard the same thing from them. It took 2 hours to check in. It was impossible to reach front desk by phone. My son enjoyed mini aqua park and indoor playground a lot. Ocean temperature was great but too much see-weed and waves. We generally focused on the good side and enjoyed it after the first day’s shock but never would go there again. Another interesting thing is that they took us their sister hotel saying that “you will just see it and book it yourself by half price. No pushing.” and tried to sell us seemingly-low-cost vacation club package asking for more than 4K CAD down payment. Lady was quite aggressive especially when I didn’t accept it.

We had a lovely experience at Occidental Caribe from start to finish! We stayed in a Superior Ocean Front room, and it was absolutely amazing. We had no issues with the AC, and the view was breathtaking — the gorgeous ocean, white sandy beaches, and beautiful surroundings made our stay truly special.
The pools were a little warmer than we’re used to, but it was not a problem at all. What really stood out was the hospitality of the staff. If you are kind, friendly, and willing to engage with them, they are incredibly kind and welcoming. We truly appreciated their warmth and service.
Maximo Rodriguez was, by far, the person who made our trip extra special. We had strict dietary restrictions, and Maximo went above and beyond to make sure we always had food available and specially prepared for us, both at the restaurants and the buffet. His care and dedication made such a difference, and we are very grateful. If you see

My favorite restaurant was the French restaurant, followed closely by the Mexican restaurant — both were fantastic!
The transportation service through the hotel was also excellent. They picked us up from the airport and dropped us off afterward with great organization. Our driver even arrived earlier than expected, which was a wonderful surprise.
The rooms were comfortable and nice, and overall we had an amazing, relaxing, and restful stay. We would definitely recommend Occidental Caribe and hope to return someday!

I was disappointed with my stay at Occidental Caribe. The views and the ocean breeze were beautiful, and I also enjoyed the pool area, but some days the pool did not look clean.
The rooms are very old and need renovation. The bathroom also did not have a toilet brush, which was inconvenient.
Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with the food. The Mexican restaurant was very disappointing, and the Italian restaurant was not good either. There was also very little customer greeting or friendly service.
Communication was another problem because most of the workers spoke only Spanish, so it was difficult to ask questions or get help.
The best parts of the resort were the views and the breeze, but overall, the rooms, food, cleanliness, and customer service need major improvement.

I have visited many resorts in different countries, but my experience at this hotel truly stood out. Last week, I stayed here with my best friend, and I am already planning to return with my entire family. I discovered paradise!
I had an amazing experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. The pools were beautiful, and the beach, lined with palm trees, felt like a dream.
The food was very good overall, and the Japanese and Dominican restaurants were outstanding. The rooms were comfortable and met our needs well. While our room temperature did not go below 25°C, we usually keep our home at 24°C, so it was only a minor difference and did not affect our enjoyment of the stay.
Overall, I fell in love with the country, its people, and especially this hotel. Thank you for making our visit so memorable. I will cherish the experience and look forward to returning soon.

Worst experience ever traveling!
We paid for the premium service and it was a complete waste of money. We had no hot water for most of our stay they lady with glasses in the lobby for the premium people was rude, and didn’t want to do her job. The only good food we ate when we were allowed to was off the resort at Saona Island.
The Dominican restaurant in the hotel is no good, we ended up walking out after waiting 45 mins for food that came well over cooked couldn’t even chew the meat.
It was not a good time or experience and I do not recommend if you want authentic food, unless ur happy with burgers fries and rice
