A huge thank you to Katys and the entire team and chut chef at Shark Restaurant, The Old Phuket for their exceptional hospitality.
As vegetarians, we requested Aloo Paratha, and even though it wasn't on the regular menu, the chef kindly prepared it specially for us. They used fresh utensils and a clean pan to ensure there was no cross-contamination, which we truly appreciated.
The Aloo Parathas were fresh, delicious, and made with great care. The staff was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our breakfast memorable.
If you're a vegetarian staying at The Old Phuket, I highly recommend Shark Restaurant. Thank you, Koy and the chef, for making us feel so welcome!

The resort makes a good first impression, clean, tidy and a peaceful setting.
Chai gave us the warmest welcome, we felt so looked after by him our entire stay.
It is in a great location with everything in easy walking distance.
Our room 1301 had a great view of both the pool and the hills with the Buddha on top - and the bathroom has a bath.
Great resort, top notch service and value for money, I can highly recommend.

Title: Wonderful Stay, Great Value, and Unbeatable Views (Room 406!)
First Impressions & Special Gestures
Warm Welcome: The resort is lovely, clean, tidy, and makes a wonderful first impression.
Anniversary Touch: We requested a special setup for our wedding anniversary. The staff beautifully folded towel swans and left flowers. They accidentally wrote "Happy Honeymoon" instead of "Happy Anniversary," but it was still a very sweet and thoughtful gesture!
Perfect Location & Accessibility
Dual Access: One of the most impressive things about this hotel is its incredible location. You can easily access both parts of Karon—including all the restaurants, nightclubs, and shops—directly from either the front or the back of the hotel.
Peaceful Setting: Even though everything is so close, the resort sits just off the main road. Because of this, you don't get all the heavy traffic noise and busy street commotion.
Room 406 Experience & Amenities
The Location: We stayed in Room 406 on the 4th floor. It is perfectly situated right at the front of the complex, just two doors down from the lift and one flight up from the upper pool.
The View: Absolutely amazing! You get beautiful views looking right into the mountains. It is far enough away to be quiet, yet close enough that you can still hear the ocean waves at night.
In-Room Features: The room includes a spacious shower, clean towels, bathrobes, slippers, and a free tea and coffee setup. There is a Smart TV that easily connects to Samsung phones to check emails.
Great Extra: They also provide a large umbrella in the room for you to use during your stay, which is a fantastic and very useful touch.
Minor Downsides: The only real downsides were a shortage of clothes hangers and a very firm, hard bed. The bed aggravated my bad back, forcing me to sleep upright, though this comes down to personal mattress preference rather than a hotel fault.
Important Mini-Bar Tip
Pro-Tip: You get 2 free bottles of fresh water daily. Every other drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) has a charge, tracked by an itemized menu. I highly advise taking a photo of the mini-bar when you arrive and another when you check out to prevent any billing discrepancies or miscommunications.
Excellent Staff & Housekeeping
Impeccable Service: Every single staff member we encountered—from security to the janitors and maintenance team—was exceptionally polite and friendly.
24-Hour Desk: They have a 24-hour reception desk in a lovely, spacious, open-plan lobby, meaning someone is always there to help you no matter what time of day or night.
Daily Cleaning: The maids did a fantastic job cleaning the room, changing bedding, replenishing toiletries, and washing the cutlery every day. Our regular maid accommodated us so well that we tipped her accordingly.
Resort Facilities & High Security
The Pools: The pool closest to us on the 4th floor is on the smaller side, but it is perfect for a quick dip. This is also where you exchange your towel cards for clean pool/beach towels (just don't lose the cards or towels, as there is a replacement fee). There is a larger, beautiful main pool on the other side of the resort next to the premium swim-up rooms.
Top-Notch Security: Security is stationed at the front, rear, and around the grounds. When we first arrived, a guard politely asked for our room key to verify we were guests. This strictness gave us great peace of mind and proved the resort is kept safe.
Unbeatable Value & Transport
Pricing: At just £30 per night (likely due to traveling off-season), this room was an incredible bargain. It did not include breakfast, which didn't bother us since I only need coffee in the morning anyway.
Shuttle Service: The hotel offers a free, scheduled courtesy shuttle taxi into other local markets and regions of Phuket. Note that it is one-way only, so you will need to arrange your own transport back.
Final Verdict
Highly Recommended: I would recommend this resort to anyone and will absolutely request Room 406 again when we return!

The Hotel is surrounded by nice palm trees and a lot of nature which is lovely. The exterior looks good but the rooms need to be refreshed and mordenised from the furniture to the decorations, to match the price being charged and the 4 star tag. The rooms are very spacious though. The towels are worn out and clearly past their prime. The staff, like most people in Thailand, are genuinely warm and friendly, though the reception team could benefit from a refresher course on guest relations.
Breakfast was quite disappointing. The only basic breakfast items available were bread and cold eggs (they should consider preparing eggs on request instead of making a whole lot of them at once), while most of the other dishes were heavy meals more suited for lunch or dinner—mainly rice, noodles, and spaghetti. It’s unclear why they don’t offer typical Western breakfast options such as beans, hash browns, bacon, or sausages.
The hotel’s location, however, is excellent—close to the beach, lots of lovely restaurants, near local markets like Kata, and just a short trip to Patong for nightlife.

What a lovely place to spend a few days, with ell you need and everything is close by from the beach to charming eateries or market stalls. There is a bus route next to the hotel and you can easily get to the airport. Patong or the Old Phuket town.
We would gladly visit the hotel again.
