I’d stayed at this hotel last year and was very impressed by it then. But this year the first day impressions didn’t go well. Room we were offered was an ideal size for the package I had paid and upgraded to. Things weren’t right in this room but was eventually all fixed.
Lovely service from the ladies who work in the All Inclusive Plus lounge. Always have a smile on their face when you go to the lounge and makes you feel welcome. Very attentive asking if you’d like a drink and even going about collecting empty glasses or plates. Rekha, Shree and Pooja are a credit to the team.
Restaurants are all very nice and even had the privilege of attending a private opening evening for Rivaj which is based up on the 10th floor of the roof bar. Food was very nice. The only thing missing could have been a bowl of water to rinse fingers after peeling prawns.
Outdoor pool area is very well equipped with lots of sun loungers. The All Inclusive Plus area could do with a roped barrier to prevent those who are not AI plus from entering the area so staff don’t have to ask people to leave if they don’t have the correct coloured wrist bands.

First time doing an all-inclusive holiday, travelling with two children aged 1 and 3. Overall, SB San Antonio was okay, but I would say it’s closer to a 3-star experience than a 4-star one. The hotel is child-friendly and the pool area is good for families, which was the main positive for us. However, the music around the pool was quite loud and played continuously throughout the day, which became a bit tiring after a while. I would not recommend paying extra for the Plus package. There were no «premium» spirits or «premium» wines available, and the selection was very limited, with only one red, one white and one rosé wine. The service in the Plus Lounge was also inconsistent. One day we were allowed to take wine glasses to our room, and on other days we were told we couldn’t. It felt like the rules depended on who was working. The buffet was good, and the staff was friendly. We ended up eating out several times just to enjoy some local restaurants and less crowded places. The rooms and facilities are functional but are starting to feel a bit outdated. The housekeeping did a great job, but we never got new coffee cups or water glasses during our entire stay. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing really stood out either. Overall, we had an acceptable stay, mainly because it worked well with young children, but it didn’t feel like a true 4-star hotel.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this all-inclusive hotel. From the very first moment, everything exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was relaxing, the facilities were spotless, and the food selection was diverse and delicious every single day.
What truly made our stay exceptional was the incredibly kind and professional staff. Everyone was always smiling, helpful, and ready to assist with anything we needed. We would especially like to thank Maroune, Jolanta, Nicolle, Kate, Madan and Polish receptionist Angela for their outstanding service, warm attitude, and genuine hospitality. I really appreciate having a Polish-speaking receptionist — it made our stay much more comfortable. They made us feel truly welcome and special throughout our entire stay.
We are extremely grateful for such a memorable experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a perfect all-inclusive vacation. We will definitely come back!

We recently stayed at db San Antonio Hotel + Spa and upgraded to the AI+ package, and it was absolutely worth it. The highlight of our stay was definitely the AI+ Lounge experience, which made our holiday feel extra special from start to finish.
The lounge itself was excellent — relaxing atmosphere, great food and drinks, and a much more personal experience — but what really made it outstanding was the staff. A huge thank you to Puja, Rekha, Sreelakshmi, Dembo and Zeee who were all incredibly friendly, attentive and welcoming every single day. They genuinely went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after and always greeted us with a smile.
Special mention also to Chef Houcem, whose food was consistently fantastic. The quality, presentation and variety were superb, and it was clear how much care went into everything served in the lounge.
The combination of excellent facilities and such hardworking, professional staff made this one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had in Malta. We would happily return and would strongly recommend the AI+ upgrade to anyone staying at db San Antonio.

You always take a gamble when you book a hotel despite all the research you can do. The DB San Antonio was well worth the effort and lived up to all the factors we considered. Based in St Paul’s in Malta, it’s a very good location to the seafront where there is a number of bars and restaurants down the road all giving the option of wonderful sunset views. The hotel itself is just over 10 years old and is incredibly smart and clean. We had a family room which was excellent in terms of layout and allowed us to get away with 1 room despite having older teenagers. Always clean, the facilities were excellent with a good pool layout. It is obviously very child friendly with a great entertainment team, but what we said whilst sitting round the pool was given how busy it was, there was always plenty of sunbeds and it never felt like we were crowded.
The All Inclusive element provided great pool bar and restaurant options and there was always a great variety of choice at the standard restaurant which I would say was high quality. However, what made our holiday truly special is we had taken the risk of upgrading to the hotels AI plus package. We were incredibly thankful for this decision as the service we received and the extras we got as a result was as good as anything I’ve experienced having travelled to many hotels over the years. Special mention should be made to Sree, Puji, Rekha and Dembo whose dedication and unending friendliness was exceptional and a credit to the hotel for the staff they employ. We certainly put their patience to the test with all the coffees and cocktails we requested!
I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone thinking of coming whether as a family with small kids or a couple who want to use it as a base to see Malta.
Finally, for those fitness fanatics, the gym facilities are second to none with new equipment and an indoor pool.
All in all, thank you for making a memorable holiday for us all.
